Chapter 589: Fighting Inside An Unstable Wormhole! Part-1.
*BOOOOOOOM!!!!*
The moment Rio’s attack with Raika collided, he knew that Ellie would be severely affected by this collision and the grand seal might also get destroyed.
Thus, to prevent that from happening, Rio chose to be more on the defensive side and tried to protect the grand seal as much as possible.
Liam was not the only person Rio had promised to bring back safely; he needed to keep Ellie alive too.
Originally, Rio was worried that Ellie might have been affected by corruption and might do something to Liam’s soul, and his worry increased when he traversed the spirit realm.
Most of the creatures inside the spirit realm were all corrupted and had no sanity to speak of, and that made Rio’s worries increase.
Thankfully, Ellie was smart; although she merged herself with the grand seal and ended up confined to one place, that was a much better fate than being turned into a plaything of miasmic corruption.
She might never have met Liam in the first place if she had long been corrupted and destroyed by miasmic corruption.
Now that Rio knew that Ellie was not corrupted and in fact had a sane mind, Rio couldn’t just let her die in front of him, so he protected the seal himself.
*CRACK!!!* *SHATTER!!!*
Rio used all of his mana that he had gathered from the previous enhancement in that single attack, and Raika was also using immense power; thus, the space-time fabric in a hundred-kilometer radius was completely annihilated!
If Rio and Raika were fighting in the outside world, the space-time fabric wouldn’t have shattered this easily, but since it was inside the spirit realm, the space could not withstand that insanely powerful collision and ruptured.
*HMMMMMMM!!!!*
A massive wormhole was forcefully opened due to the space-time fabric being ruptured, causing both Rio and Raika to get sucked inside of that wormhole!
Rio was out of mana, so he couldn’t dodge it on time and fell inside.
Although Raika, who was a projection, could have easily just disappeared and reappeared somewhere else to prevent himself from falling into the wormhole, he didn’t do so.
He willingly jumped inside the wormhole in pursuit of Rio!
"You aren’t getting away from me today, Rio Flash!!! I will chase you down to the very depths of hell!!!"
Seeing that he was already stuck inside the wormhole, Rio didn’t bother to struggle and immediately brought out several high-grade mana potions from his space ring and gulped them down all at once!
[Sword Sage’s Enlightenment: Mana Transmission: Instantaneous Energy Absorption!]
Rio took his sword and pierced it in his stomach, forcing copious amounts of sword intent inside his own body.
And forcefully digested all that mana he had just ingested by transmitting it to every part of his body using sword intent as a medium!
Although the sword did pierce his stomach, there was no blood or wound created, as if the sword had passed right through his body without causing any damage.
This was Rio’s spatial and soul manipulation ability at work with sword intent all at once.
Rio actually came up with this idea of forcefully digesting mana when he noticed that whenever Raika reappeared somewhere, his connection with the being behind him would send energy and transform it into his body.
That transformation would redistribute energy in all areas at a very fast speed and turn it into Raika’s body.
This gave Rio inspiration to transmit energy to every part of his body using sword intent and increase his energy digestion and output, both at the same time!
Now that Rio’s sword intent was at 99.99%, he could do this very easily and very efficiently.
So, Rio didn’t hesitate, and the moment his mana tank ran empty, he immediately ran a practical experiment to test out the results mid-battle!
"OHO? You are copying me now? You really do make me jealous!"
[Echo of Paradise: Archer’s Symphony: Echo of Heavy Machine Gun!]
Raika pointed his finger towards Rio, and massive magic circles appeared around him that glowed brightly with various kinds of elementals.
Using those magic circles, Raika started bombarding Rio with all kinds of elemental bullets, treating his magic circles as heavy machine guns!
Water, stone, metal, wind, fire, light, miasma, etc.—there were all kinds of condensed bullets, and since both of them were falling down inside a giant round wormhole, Rio barely had any place to dodge!
And using too much strength here could cause the wormhole to collapse, thus Rio couldn’t use sword intent either!
[Elemental Sword Art: Space Type: Spatial Fluctuation Wave!]
Using the already unstable spatial fluctuations of the wormhole, Rio created a wave of spatial fluctuations that rushed towards Raika and completely diverted the spatial trajectory of all bullets fired in his direction!
Most of the bullets went in the wrong directions, hit the walls of the wormhole, and were ejected outside to unknown locations in space!
[Echo of Paradise: Dragon’s Symphony: Echo of the Heaven’s Equal!]
*BOOOOOOM!!!*
Raika didn’t use his reappearing ability this time and instead punched the incoming spatial wave with his bare hands, blasting the spatial waves into nothingness and completely breaking its powerful momentum!
Seeing that Raika didn’t use the disappear and reappear tactic, Rio’s eyes narrowed instantly.
’So even he can’t do it inside the wormhole?’
A wormhole is a connection between one location and another in the space-time fabric.
It has no coordinates, and you can’t actually track it down easily.
There are hundreds of millions of mini-wormholes opening up everywhere in the universe, and this wormhole had opened due to Rio and Raika’s powers colliding.
It was completely random.
Its destination was random, and it was impossible to track the insides of it.
If Raika disappeared, he would go out of existence and would not be able to reappear inside the same wormhole again, as it’s impossible to track it because there are no coordinates for it.
Unless you run tests on a wormhole beforehand to find out its destination and its final coordinates, it’s impossible to predict where it will lead you to.
It could teleport you to any location in the universe, and as everyone knows, 1/10 of the universe is the territory of the sea of endless miasma.
Which means there’s a chance you might end up inside it too.
Rio would have preferred to have never fallen inside such a random wormhole, as the risk factor was too high, but he had no other choice at the moment, as he was caught off-guard when he was out of mana.
When fighting a stronger opponent, things can always get out of hand, and not every plan works out perfectly.
Rio knew that fighting Raika would cause him tremendous trouble, but he couldn’t just let Raika keep Liam’s soul either.
He had to confront him and snatch Liam soul no matter what.
’No, in fact I am the one who’s at a disadvantage...’
Rio knew that Raika was only pursuing him of his own accord, and perhaps he was even going easy on Rio because he was constantly saying that he wanted to befriend Rio.
If the being controlling this projection wanted, they could just disappear with Liam soul at any moment they wanted to, along with the projection.
Then Rio won’t even know who took away Liam’s soul and where to go to find him.
