Chapter 593: An endless loop! Part-1.

Three Months Ago, Before Taking The Liam Rescue Mission.

"So you are saying that the entrance to the spirit realm is actually a ’wormhole,’ and I need to shatter the space-time fabric to access it?"

"You do know that I am only an S-ranker right now, right? How do you expect me to shatter the space-time fabric?"

Sitting on top of the skyscraper’s topmost floor, Rio asked these questions to the person beside him.

The one sitting beside him was none other than Ashtel Rex, the strongest man on the planet.

"You are strong, Rio... don’t underestimate yourself; an awakener’s real strength and power come from their own confidence in themselves..."

"Those who don’t have confidence in themselves cannot wish to save others, as they can’t save themselves in the first place..."

"If you want to take on a rescue mission... you must have confidence in yourself first..."

Ashtel glanced at the bright city lights shining in the dark night, and a smile appeared on his face.

"At a certain time of the day, the space-time fabric in that particular location gets weaker due to the interaction of the spirit realm with the material world..."

"That’s why that place is referred to as the ’weak node’ in the first place... as long as you use your full strength, you should be able to break a hole in that place..."

"The wormhole will then reveal itself to you..."

Ashtel paused for a bit and then continued,

"But don’t use your legendary skill or any other powerful move once you are inside the wormhole... those things are usually very fragile in the first place; if it breaks, you will be thrown out to some random location in the universe..."

"Then you would be forced to use the teleportation scroll to return home and the mission would fail..."

Hearing those words, Rio nodded his head asked,

"Talking about wormholes... don’t you usually shatter the space-time fabric all the time? Do wormholes appear often when you do your powerful attacks?"

Ashtel’s entire skill set worked on how to deal with such devastating damage that even the space-time fabric won’t remain intact; thus, Rio was curious how he would deal with the wormholes that would open when using his powers.

"I just usually grab them and close them by hand... err... don’t give me those weird looks; I use my ’World Authority’ to send shockwaves through my hands and then close it with physical force..."

"The same is true for the low-rank dungeons; you can just close them by force just the same way..."

"Truth be told, even I didn’t know about this ability before but I ended up copying it from the dragon king..."

Hearing those words, Rio rolled his eyes and thought to himself,

’Are all people thieves in this world? We are stealing one or two things from one another... did I accidentally end up transmigrating in the world of thieves?’

"So... what if you have to close a wormhole but you can’t use world authority... how would you do it then?..."

Hearing Rio’s question, Ashtel smiled a bit and replied,

"Back when my world authority level was low and I was incapable of forcefully closing dungeons and wormholes, I used a clever trick to close them..."

Ashtel’s ability is very good and efficient for sending shockwaves through the space-time fabric, and his strongest attacks include concentrating the shockwaves so much in one place that the space-time fabric shatters.

This has been his main attack move for a very long time, so obviously he had to face wormholes and void storms that would appear every time he shattered the space fabric.

Before copying the dragon king, Ashtel had to use a trickier method to deal with them and it was,

"Wormholes are basically just cylindrical canals from one location to another if you think about it, right?"

"If you rupture it from inside, it might inflict damage outside due to unstable spatial fluctuations so to deal with them..."

"I would destroy the endpoint of the wormhole by sending powerful shockwaves through it and this will cause the wormhole to lose its ’end’ coordinate..."

"And when that happens the wormhole’s ’End’ re-shifts back to the ’Start’ point... creating a loop..."

With no ’End’ coordinate, all the energy of the wormhole will re-shift back to the ’start’ coordinate, turning that cylindrical canal into a donut-shaped closed loop!

In that donut-shaped closed loop, energy will remain in constant motion, and the wormhole will shift into a new stable state after being temporarily destabilized due to its end coordinate getting destroyed.

"This way, the wormhole will loop back on its own self and will be closed... but doing this consumes tremendous energy..."

"Nowadays I just rupture the wormhole from outside, compress it and forcefully close it with my shockwaves; it’s less power-consuming and more environment friendly..."

Hearing that explanation from Ashtel, Rio felt amused.

"Did you do some degree in physics or what? You are quite knowledgeable about space-time and its principles..."

Ashtel only gave a wry smile at those words.

"I have been doing this thing for decades kiddo... after such a long time, anyone will become experienced enough in their respective field of strength..."

"Though, truth be told, I was the worst when it came to studies and academic excellence... you might not believe me, but I was once at the very bottom among my peers..."

Rio was quite surprised after hearing those words.

"And that same bottom feeder is now the strongest man on this planet... why don’t you have a biography written about your life?"

"I sure it will be a good source of inspiration for many..."

Ashtel shrugged his shoulders at those words and replied with a smile,

"I don’t really care about all that... I just like protecting the innocent smiles of the children of this nation... I like how everything is so bright and shining when it’s peaceful everywhere..."

"I just hope that the days and nights of our nation will always remain so bright and nice... hehe..."

Only after hearing those words did Rio come to understand why Ashtel liked sitting on skyscrapers and watching the city below so much.

He was fond of watching humanity flourish and remain bright and shining.

Sitting on a skyscraper and feeling the cold breeze, he could watch far until the horizon and could see the entire city filled with bright lights and bright smiles everywhere.

Being the strongest was not just about preventing crime and destroying enemies; it also meant that you had to love your job.

After all, if you don’t love your job, how will you become a protector for millions of people?

How will others depend on you if you don’t like others depending on you?

Watching the bright city flourish under his protection was a method of Ashtel Rex to reduce his own stress and help himself remain anchored to his own humanity.

With tremendous strength comes tremendous responsibility, but it also brings tremendous opportunities for corruption and decay.

If Ashtel Rex didn’t like his job or felt annoyed protecting others, he would have walked on the wrong ’Path’ long ago.

He was still able to keep himself anchored to his humanity because he loved his job and loved to watch the nation flourish every day.
