Chapter 602: Let’s Go Home. Part-2.

Rio was welcomed quite nicely at the old dwarf’s house.

Not only did they give Rio a homemade tea, but they even gave him a place to sit and relax for a while inside their home!

’Sigh... it’s been months since I even sat down on a soft sofa or a bed... I kind of miss that soft bed in Lia’s room back at the Silver Mansion...’

The last time Rio took a proper rest was back when he slept in this house before leaving for the Spirit Realm the next day.

Inside the spirit realm, Rio only took short ten-minute meditation breaks at most; aside from that, he didn’t sleep or rest at all!

As a powerful S-ranker who can use miasma as his energy source and can reset his mental and spiritual exhaustion by sucking out a monster’s soul energy and injecting it into himself, Rio literally had no need for food or sleep.

Due to this, he kept going on for six months without breathing, sleeping, or eating at all!

He survived on miasma and mana the entire time and almost forgot what it meant to get a proper 8-hour sleep!

The spirit realm was filled with monsters and dangers at every point, and Rio could not possibly let his guard down for even a second with that creep Raika roaming around freely.

Even after Rio put Raika in confinement, Rio couldn’t rest as he was too focused on saving Ellie some way or other.

And once he succeeded in saving Ellie with his newly developed skill, ’Soul Merge,’ the ’laws’ of the ’world’ helped him break through to the next realm.

That directly washed away all exhaustion and fatigue from his body and mind during the ascension!

Rio was reset back to peak condition in a matter of minutes and thus didn’t feel the need to sleep.

’Sigh... Life’s been so hectic lately... I haven’t been able to take a proper long rest for a while now...’

First, Rio got heavily injured in the Spire of Ascension incident, and then he had to work for several months to hunt down criminals and help awaken Ashtel and Jin.

Then he even had to go inside a literal hellhole to rescue Liam and Ellie, and the mission kept going on and on for half a year!

One thing after another kept happening, and Rio didn’t even have time to take a short break!

’Ugh... how am I supposed to be living a peaceful, happy life in this way?...’

Thinking about this, Rio sighed and sipped the tea made by Kehrid as he took out a small box made of dragon scale and placed it on the table with his telekinesis.

"Thanks for welcoming me so warmly... here, I brought you the rare ores that you wanted... they are directly from the spirit realm..."

"But as you know that most things inside the spirit realm are highly contaminated with miasmic corruption, you have to be careful with these things..."

Kehrid was surprised but also shocked when he sensed the heavy corruptive aura coming from that small container.

"Wait... this texture... you made this container from shadow dragon scales!? Whoa! You actually managed to encounter a real shadow dragon and even managed to bring a piece of its scale back!"

"That thing is more valuable than any other ore from the spirit realm, you know!"

Kehrid was quite happy that Rio brought such a valuable thing, but he dared not touch that container recklessly or open it without precautions.

With how much concentrated miasmic aura it was leaking, Kehrid knew that it contained something very powerful.

"W-what’s inside it... the miasmic aura it’s radiating so dense..."

Hearing that question, Rio scratched the back of his neck and replied awkwardly,

"Actually, I tried to find ores but as you know miasma corrupts even land and rocks; nothing valuable was left to bring back..."

"So... all I could bring back were a bunch of ’Miasmic Crystals’..."

At Rio’s words, Kehrid almost fell from his chair and fainted from the sheer shock!

"You brought back what!??!"

"Miasmic crystals!?"

Kehrid immediately acted and hurriedly cast hundreds of seals on the small container; he even brought out various space anchors and space-time sealing artifacts to seal that box tightly with as many seals as possible!

Only after doing all that did Kehrid finally wipe the cold sweat from his forehead and speak in an exhausted tone.

"Kiddo, you are really one hell of a weirdo... not only are you able to keep the literal ’Sword of Absolute Destruction’ near you, you can control an uncontrollable artifact like the cube of possibilities..."

"You even brought out ’miasmic crystals’ with you!? You really have balls of steel!"

"Those crystals are enough to bring immense harm and are capable of wiping several cities off the face of the earth in a matter of seconds, you know!"

"And you were travelling with them in your pockets! You have guts!"

Rio could only give a wry smile after hearing all that praise.

"Err... well, I had to pay you back for lending me the cube one way or another... So? You like the payment or not?"

At Rio’s question, Kehrid immediately nodded his head; a wide smile appeared on his face.

"Of course I like it! Finding miasmic crystals is like winning a big lottery! It’s one of the most expensive and rarest materials in the entire world!"

"It’s a good thing I lent you the cube back then!"

Rio was surprised that Kehrid was so happy with just a few miasmic crystals.

’Well, they do blast and explode randomly so they might not exist in the material world in usual conditions... making them rare and expensive...’

’Come to think of it... I can make them at will now actually... should I start selling them for profit?... won’t that make me rich overnight?’

While Rio was thinking all these things in his head, he used his telekinesis to place the cube on the table beside the container of miasmic crystals.

"Talking about the cube, here... you can have it back; thanks for lending it to me..."

The cube of possibilities was definitely a powerful artifact without a doubt, but it didn’t belong to Rio, and he had only borrowed it from Kehrid for a short period of time.

And since Rio didn’t want to offend a peak SS-ranker over a mere artifact, he returned it back right away.
