Chapter 625: The Airhead Twins, Lyria and Miria. Part-5.
Looking at the two little fairies jumping around in happiness, chasing the little golem and playing with it as they nibbled on the sweets, Lia felt pleased.
’I am glad I learnt cooking...’
The sweets were made by Lia herself, and as a top-level chef, obviously her cooking was not to be underestimated.
Sweets, dishes, local or foreign, Lia can cook almost all kinds of food, and even if she hasn’t cooked something before, she can easily learn it after seeing the recipe just once!
At this point, food was not about cooking; it was a form of art to her, a skill that she was extremely proficient in!
Although Lia has never participated in those national or international cooking competitions, she was definitely on the level of a national champion, at the very least!
Her teacher, Mel, who’s also her personal maid, is a national and international champion; thus, as her student, Lia was already so good at her craft that she could easily win many championships if she took part in them.
But the main reason why Lia learned to cook was not competing with others or anything like that at all.
In a world where food can be 3D printed on the spot and all kinds of intelligent AI and robots exist that are useful for cooking and home chores, the enthusiasm for handmade cooking still exists.
Not because it’s better or tastier than the food printed by machines, but because it represents the emotions of the one who made it.
In an age where food can be easily printed, if someone puts in their own hard work to make handmade food for you, that food won’t just be food anymore; it will be a symbol of the chef’s feeling for the person who it was cooked for!
Lia grew up without parents for a majority of her childhood, and thus she treated Mel just like she would treat her own mother.
She respected Mel for always being there for her, and Lia had always been fascinated by the fact that Mel seemed so happy to make food for her with her hands.
Later on, Lia developed an interest in cooking because of seeing that enviable joyful expression on Mel’s face.
To Lia, cooking has now become a method of bringing smiles to the faces of people who she cares about.
Seeing the two little fairies smile and giggle after eating the sweets made her feel pleased too.
"You two need to become more cautious, you know, taking sweets from strangers and playing around with a random golem you just met..."
"You two are really too carefree..."
Hearing Lia’s words, the two little fairies giggled and replied,
"But you are not a stranger, Lia; you are our friend, hehe~"
At that reply, Lia could only shake her head helplessly.
’How do I explain to these two Airhead twins now that I am not exactly a good person and even that little golem, they are playing tag with...’
’Is actually a walking bomb that can shatter the entire solar system...’
Watching them giggle and jump around happily with the little golem was like watching two ignorant airheads jump around an unstable nuclear reactor that could blow up anytime.
And the saddest part of it all was that these two little fairies likely died a miserable death in reality.
’Sigh... this is why I don’t like entering dungeons that bring us face-to-face with a long-gone past...’
According to what the two fairies told Lia, this entire continent is part of the Fairy Kingdom, Adonis.
But due to demons and humans that are constantly hunting them, they have been pushed into hiding, and now fairies have become divided into smaller cities that are hidden all around the continent.
This city, located near the northern coast of the fairy kingdom, is called the City of Eternal Flowers, Kenorland!
And thousands of fairies live in this city hidden by the powerful illusion barrier.
Fairies are elemental beings; their food is the elements in the air and the mana in the surroundings.
So, they have no need for food or any other resources. They also don’t have the culture of making permanent houses, as they love wandering around in lush lands!
Oftentimes they just sleep in temporarily made resting spots created with magic, or some of them just lie on tree branches to sleep for a night before leaving on a new adventure the day after right away!
Although the fairies do not have fixed homes or communities, they are still social creatures that like playing and spending time with each other.
Thus, they all have a special place where they can meet each other.
And that is the Temple of ’Nature.’
Miria and her friends met each other in the morning in the temple and sneaked out of the barrier to fight demons but got caught by a powerful demon because of their carelessness.
If not for Lyria, who bought time as she appeared in the end, Miria would have been killed long ago. Then Lia appeared and saved them both.
But in reality, there was no Lia two thousand years ago; in other words, the two sisters, Lyria and Miria, likely died to that demon, as there was no one to help them get out of that deadly situation.
The little fairies happily playing with the little golem now were just manifestations of that long-gone past; the real ones were long dead.
Thus, seeing their happy smiles, Lia felt sad but was powerless to do anything about it, as she was incapable of changing the past.
’Sigh... if only the fairy race was smart and not so careless...’
[You don’t need to be sad about this Kiddo... What’s happened in the past cannot be changed... it’s futile to think about it now...]
[Just focus on your own goals so that such miserable things do not happen to you or your loved ones in the future...]
Hearing those words, Lia could only sigh in helplessness and stop thinking about this matter.
"The Temple of Nature... that’s our next objective..."
