Chapter 697: The Emotional Reunion. (Liam X Ellie).

Liam slowly opened his eyes and sat up on his bed as he looked at his hands with a bit of confusion for a second.

It took a few long seconds for Liam to finally realize that he was now really alive once again.

"Haha... this almost seems like a dream come true... haha..."

Liam hurriedly pinched his cheek with his hand and realized that the pain was real, so it was not a dream.

The warm sunlight of the rising sun fell on his handsome face straight from the window as his eyes became moist from joy.

Before Liam could look for a mirror to inspect his own body, he noticed the familiar girl sleeping peacefully on the second bed placed in the room.

"E-Ellie..."

Liam’s mouth curled up to form a smile as tears appeared in his eyes, and his throat felt like it got choked with hundreds of words and emotions that refused to remain suppressed anymore.

As the clone body that was turned into Liam’s new body had been in a cryogenic sleep pod for a very long time, it was still very slow and difficult to move, but Liam didn’t care about all that in that moment.

He used all his might to get up from the bed; even though it felt like he could collapse any moment, Liam still stood up while using the table nearby as a support.

"Ellie... hic... haha... y-you are also here... sob... hic... You are safe... haha... I am so glad..."

Even though he found it difficult to speak, even though his eyes had become blurry from tears, and even though his emotions were overwhelming him.

Liam did not falter!

One step at a time, he moved forward; he braved the instability of this new body, he braved the feeling of weakness, and he braved the fear of falling and getting injured to keep moving forward.

With sheer grit and determination, Liam made his way to Ellie’s bed and sat down beside her on the bed.

A smile of sheer joy appeared on Liam’s face as tears kept running down it.

With his trembling hand, Liam carefully caressed Ellie’s face.

"Haha... you still look just the same as always... haha... You are the most beautiful girl I have seen in my life..."

"Sorry... sorry for making you worry... I am terrible person... I am the worst that I made you worry for me for so long..."

"Forgive me, Ellie... please forgive me... open your eyes and let me beg for forgiveness... Sorry Ellie..."

Even though Liam tried to wipe his tears with the sleeves of his shirt, they refused to stop, and as the tears fell on Ellie’s hand, a frown appeared on her sleeping face.

As if responding to Liam’s desperate pleas, Ellie slowly opened her eyes, and for a moment her greenish eyes became blurry as if she were still stuck in some dream.

Only after several seconds did Ellie slowly come back to reality as her eyes fell on Liam’s face covered in tears.

With a look of confusion in her eyes, she raised her hand as she caressed Liam’s face and helped him wipe his tears.

"Liam?... Why... are you crying?... Did something happen?..."

"Wait... wasn’t I in the spirit realm... I was... guarding your soul... then... something happened... I don’t remember it but..."

Ellie found it difficult to remember things in proper detail, as her soul had originally shattered into many pieces after her death, and Rio had to sew her soul back with his own hands.

During that process, even though Rio tried his best to preserve as many memories as possible, Ellie still lost a lot of her memories.

Thankfully, Ellie’s love for Liam was strong enough that her memories about Liam still remained mostly intact even after having her soul shattered into pieces.

Rio was also surprised by this back then, and this made him realize that even if you master soul manipulation and brainwashing techniques.

Erasing someone’s memory might become easy for you, but you can still not erase someone’s love and care for the people close to them.

The ’Law’ of ’Love, Care, and Protection’ is called one of the strongest ’law’ of this ’world’ for a reason; you can erase a person, but their love cannot be erased, as the ’world’ itself would remember it.

Ellie smiled happily as she leaned her back against the wall and embraced Liam’s head with her arms.

"Look at you, crying like a baby despite being a boy... I thought you were supposed to be the strongest summoner in the younger generation of the entire human race..."

"This is not like you at all... a happy smile suits you more you know..."

Even though Ellie patted Liam’s head and caressed his dark purplish hair, Liam still hugged her tightly as if he were afraid that she would disappear if he let her go.

"I am sorry Ellie... I am the worst..."

Seeing that vulnerable side of Liam, Ellie felt amused but also slightly concerned.

She grabbed her face with her hands as she forcefully made him look straight in her eyes.

"You are not the worst person I know of... you are in fact the best person I have met in my life..."

"Even if you made me wait, even if you made me sad in the past... I have already forgiven you for everything..."

"You never needed to ask for my forgiveness... after all, I love you, Liam Aldif!"

Hearing Ellie’s words, Liam’s tears became even more rampant, and he nodded his head as he spoke in a desperate voice.

"I love you too, Ellie... I love you..."

Hearing those words, Ellie smiled brightly, grabbed Liams’s collar and spoke,

"That’s it, you are mine from now on!"

With that said, Ellie kissed Liam straight on the lips and sealed his mouth with her own!
