Chapter 706: Maybe I should start a tea shop... Part-2.
After being pressured by those emotionless dark black eyes, Irvin had no other choice but to accept Rio’s order.
Most people might not know how dangerous Rio was, but Irvin, who had worked with Rio for quite some time and had personally seen the photos of the dead bodies of Rio’s victims, knew exactly how dangerous Rio can be.
There’s a reason why criminals would rather surrender themselves to the police than risk getting caught by Rio.
When dealing with serious criminals, Rio never shows mercy; he doesn’t wait for law or court trials at all; he just straight up uses them like lab rats for his own skill-improvement experiments!
If not for the fact that Rio had been granted the position of a lieutenant general by the SS rankers of the nation, most people would consider him a rogue villain who takes pleasure in hunting down people and torturing them mercilessly.
"O-okay, okay... i-I will try, I will do it. You will have your map in a week; as for the information on this girl, It will take a bit longer..."
A happy smile returned to Rio’s face after hearing those words.
"Now that’s what we are talking about! I knew you were a reliable old man!"
"By the way, this is a private commission; keep the entire deal secret. Here’s your advance payment..."
With that said, Rio took out a skill book covered in dried blood and gave it to Irvin.
"It’s a skill book that I created from a rather slippery fellow... it can grant a powerful water affinity-related skill to the user... take it."
Irvin looked at the dried blood covering that book and took it with trembling hands as he tried his best to show a smile.
"O-okay... i-I will definitely not let you down..."
After Irvin took the skill book, Rio got up from his seat, placed the empty cup down, waved his hand to say bye, and left while saying,
"Send me the details when you are done investigating; I have other things to do so I would take my leave now..."
With that said, Rio left the tavern and flew away.
Skill books are usually artifacts that are found in dungeons or mana-rich places, as they are formed by the past memories and the blessings of mana in nature.
Usually most awakeners can never craft skill books, as it’s a very complicated process.
To create a skill book, you would need to engrave a skill in extreme detail, and the book you engrave it on must also be made out of a very high-rank material so that it can withstand the powerful engravings.
But there’s also a much easier and very controversial method to make skill books, which is to kill a person, harvest their soul, and put it in a book.
For this to work, you would need to bathe the book in the dead person’s blood and flesh so that it becomes compatible with the soul stored in it.
This kind of method is usually only used by demons and evil beings to create evil grimoires that contain dark magic-related knowledge!
Usually only demons have such things, but to think Rio had it with him too! It was very creepy and bizarre!
And the most horrifying of all was the realization that Rio handing such a thing to him so casually clearly meant that he had no shortage of such skill books; he likely still had quite a large stash stored in his space ring!
Not only did Rio shatter quite a few of his victim’s souls with his soul-splitting technique, he even made skill books out of their shattered souls!
Just thinking about such a possibility was enough to send chills down Irvin’s spine!
’He gave it to me not just as a payment but as a warning...’
Irvin stared at the skill book covered in blood for a long time in a daze; his hands shivered from fear uncontrollably, and his heart refused to calm down for a long time.
In the end, only one word managed to come out of his mouth.
"Monster..."
...
After handing the skill book to Irvin, Rio headed out of the tavern and flew straight back towards the silver mansion in the capital city.
’I wonder if Lia’s finally done adjusting to her new powers? Should I ask her out on a date soon?’
For now, Rio was free and had nothing to do, as he wasn’t on criminal hunting duty right now and there was still a lot of time before the trip to the ’Beast Archipelago’ would happen.
’Oh, wait, I haven’t fought Link since we both became S-rankers... I can go and beat the sh*t out of him in my free time!’
Although Rio was already too strong for his peers, Link was still a very durable punching bag that could take considerable hits without fainting easily, so it wasn’t a bad idea to use him to test out some new skills.
’His miasma resistance should have increased after reaching rank S but I shouldn’t use miasma to fight friendly foes from now on, as my miasma control is too strong and it’s too powerful...’
’Also, soul-type skills will be too destructive for a spar...’
Thinking so far, Rio felt heartbroken as he realized that he had become too strong too fast!
Now if he fought Link, he might end up killing him by accident, so it was not a good idea to spar with him.
’If Link, Riya, Lia, Liam, Ellie... all of them fight me together they might perhaps have a chance though... perhaps...’
’Tch! Forget it. It won’t be fun if I can’t even use my powers properly and have to fight with so many restrictions. I might as well just start catching those criminal rats again to pass time...’
Without realizing it, Rio had become such a workaholic and such a battle junkie that he felt like his hands were itching if he couldn’t fight someone for a long time.
’Maybe I should start a tea shop much sooner than I was planning... I have time at hand right now so it would be a good idea to not waste it...’
