Chapter 715: Island Felina. Part-2.
After greeting each other, the group headed towards the convoy of cars nearby.
Unlike the luxurious sports cars that were famous in the human empire, big muscle cars were more preferred in the Beast Archipelago.
The entire convoy was made up of dark black-colored muscle cars that seemed to be radiating an aura of power and strength!
If it were back in his previous world, Rio would have mistaken this convoy for some kind of mafia group.
"I was actually quite surprised when I found out that this meeting was going to be arranged in the Beast Archipelago; usually such meetings happen in your human empire or the Elven Empire..."
"The last time we had a meeting in the Beast Archipelago might have been more than a hundred years ago!"
Sitting in one of the muscle cars, Riku himself acted as the driver. Ashtel sat on the passenger princess seat beside the driver’s seat while Rio and Link had to sit in the back seat of the car with these two old men.
The girls, on the other hand, had decided to take a separate car, so Rio and Link could only listen to the old fellows speaking with each other about political and serious matters in boredom.
Link even had the look on his face that practically screamed, ’Why must I be separated from my wiafu! This world is too unfair to us waifu lovers!’.
Ignoring the two kids sulking in the backseat, Ashtel leaned his head against the comfy seat as he tightened his seatbelt and spoke.
"This time the meeting has to be organized with greater secrecy."
"Your place was chosen because it would be difficult for enemies to guess that we would choose to organize our meeting in this place, as we haven’t done so in centuries!"
Ashtel glanced at the passing scenery, noticed the hundreds of beastfolk working diligently in the military camp to get the place ready for the arrival of more guests as he continued speaking,
"To tell you the truth, I would have preferred to avoid hosting this kind of meeting in the human empire or the elven empire more..."
"After all, wherever these kinds of meetings are held, the risk of the demon race attacking that nation increases tremendously in the future as that place gets marked as a key location by the demon race..."
Riku also nodded his head at those words.
"Indeed, I would also have preferred not to have to worry about this kind of headache; unlike the human and elven races, we don’t really have a big population..."
"A full-scale attack from the demon race will cause tremendous loss for us; the thousand-year demon extinction war brought severe casualties to us..."
"Almost half of the beast tribes that used to exist before the thousand-year war became extinct by the end of it..."
Wars are akin to disaster; no matter which side starts it, all participants suffer in it.
The human race lost millions upon millions of people; the elf race almost had their world tree destroyed; the fairy race and the dark elf race were both massacred to death; and hundreds of other races were erased from existence.
The beast folk were not an exception to this calamity either.
Once upon a time, they used to have dozens of different kinds of beast tribes living in harmony with each other, but now, there are barely even ten tribes of beast folk left in existence.
Most of them have either become extinct by now or only have a few members left and are on the verge of extinction.
Only the Feline, Fox, Dog, and Bird tribes are the ones that have a decent population left to them; the rest are all barely maintaining their existence.
This is also one of the main reasons why the Beastfolk care so much about nurturing their young talents.
They already have a very small pool of talent in the first place, and if they can’t ensure the birth of new SS-rankers every once in a while, they might not be able to keep their nation stable against internal and external troubles.
Just like any other nation, Beastfolk also suffered from internal political unrest and friction between various different beast tribes.
The only reason why they were all still able to stay together and keep this nation stable was all because of the efforts of the SS-rankers of their nation.
"The movements of the demon king in recent times are concerning; I always have to be on guard these days..."
"I don’t want the tragedy of the mermaid island to happen to any others..."
Ashtel nodded his head at Riku’s words.
"I know... one of the demon generals wreaked havoc in that place; I was one of the few SS-rankers who besieged him back then and sent him to the afterlife..."
The Demon King of the demon race has been the same individual for centuries, but the demon generals often change.
Sometimes there are none and sometimes there are dozens!
The main reason why the demon race can get so much reinforcement so easily is because they have a major advantage.
The entire spirit realm of the universe is controlled by the sea of miasmic corruption, and even a major part of the universe is filled with miasma.
This solar system is one of the highest mana-density areas in the entire universe, and thus demons from all over the universe and all over the spirit realm flock over to this place to spread violence and hatred.
Sometimes the spirit realm randomly opens up and creates wormholes that spew out demons, and these demons then end up joining the demon race located on this planet, thus replenishing their ranks again and again.
Unlike humans and other races that have to properly train their people, wait for decades for a new SS-ranker to be born,
And sometimes even have to live in fear for centuries; because of not having any SS-rankers, demons have an unlimited supply of ready-made soldiers.
They can afford to just casually send a random demon general to a random place to spread violence.
Even if the demon general gets killed, a new one will pop up sooner or later, so it’s not a big loss to the demon race.
This is one of the main reasons why the demon race still managed to keep up with the entire world alliance and managed to keep fighting alone without getting completely destroyed.
As long as miasma exists in this universe, there is simply no end to them.
