Chapter 736: Forgotten World, Cyria-229. Part-4

[Evaluation: You have enough talent to make even heavens jealous of you, but the universe loves you, so all ’Laws’ of the universe will be your allies!]

’With so much hp and with so many recovery and regeneration-type skills stacked upon each other, I refuse to believe that even Rio can beat me to death now...’

’Unless that fellow starts using those shady soul-related skills of his that can bypass physical defenses, I do have a pretty good chance at going toe-to-toe with him...’

After reaching rank S, Link’s defensive capabilities saw a new evolution, and he was now strong enough to withstand most attacks without flinching once!

Although he didn’t have the same bizarre skill arsenal that Rio had, Link had his own set of powerful skills.

Sigh, the only problem is that learning Father’s skills is too difficult. Although he has taught me both of his combat arts, I still haven’t managed to learn them properly...’

As Ashtel’s only son, obviously Ashtel was going to teach him both the Sage art and the Fool art, but that technique didn’t seem to suit Link much, and so he wasn’t able to learn them properly until now.

’Well, I will try them again after I reach rank SS; perhaps I might be able merge them both together and create a new one out of them that can work with my skillset...’

Shaking his head in dismay, Link glanced at Kai and asked,

"By the way, do you have any abilities or techniques that can improve your defenses against soul-type attacks?"

Hearing those words, Kai narrowed his eyes and a grin appeared on his face.

"Hoho, are you targeting that stone-statue-like fellow? Unfortunately, I don’t have any soul-related defensive abilities; if I had, I would have gladly given them to you..."

Seeing that Link had become distracted by training again, Riya jabbed him lightly and spoke,

"Idiot, we are in the middle of a crisis right now, and you are still thinking about training to become stronger than Rio. Snap out of your training-maniac world!"

Only when Riya pointed it out did Link remember that they were all stranded on an unknown planet, and it wasn’t the time to be competing with Rio.

"Yeah, let’s go to the place that Lia’s intuition is guiding us to; we don’t have time to waste here..."

Link nodded his head and led the way forward with others following behind him in an attempt to save energy and keep a low profile.

Nobody knew what kind of dangers this unknown world had, so it was better to let a meat shield like Link pave the way forward so that the two girls could stay behind comfortably.

"This planet is really bizarre... the strings of destiny of the entire planet are going haywire as if someone has sucked out all the energy from the strings of destiny here..."

"But as far as I know, sucking energy out of an entire planet’s strings of destiny should be impossible..."

"Even someone like me who can manipulate the strings of destinies with my talent can’t do something like this even at a much smaller scale..."

Looking at the barren desert land below, Lia couldn’t help but feel more cautious.

"I have a bad feeling about this..."

With Lia’s warning, the group kept a low profile, tried to hide Riya’s presence as much as possible so as to prevent miasma from sending more monster tides their way and kept moving forward.

In the hundreds of kilometers that the group traveled in the next half hour, they didn’t encounter a single place that had trees or any sort of vitality.

There was just an endless barren wasteland filled with death and corruption everywhere.

Sandstorms raged everywhere, with the bones of thousands of creatures littered around everywhere in the reddish-orange desert sand.

If not for the fact that everyone in the group was an S-ranker, they would have all fainted from the intense sunlight that scorched the entire planet.

There were five suns illuminating the entire planet from all directions, and thus there was no such concept called ’night’ on this planet; the entire planet was stuck in an ’eternal day’ that would never end!

The surface temperature of the planet exceeded 100 degrees Celsius everywhere!

After traveling for three hours straight, the group crossed almost two continents’ worth of distance and found that there were no seas or water sources on this planet’s surface at all!

There were just volcanoes, lava, and desolation everywhere, except for one place.

As if contradicting reality and basic laws of physics, a small settlement stood atop ruins and broken ancient architecture.

In a small hidden valley protected by giant hills from all sides was a settlement of half-orcs that seemed to be living peacefully without caring about the heat and endless desolation outside.

Half-orc children could be seen playing around in the streets of the settlement; elderly orcs could be seen chatting and playing cards with each other under the shade of some roughly made tents.

Meanwhile, the adult half-orcs worked busily, their eyes filled with purpose and hope.

It was a poor place equipped with only the most basic survival capabilities, but it was booming with vitality, completely contradicting the death and desolation outside.
