Seeing that Miki had calmed down a bit, Riya nodded her head, steeled her resolve, and decided to get to work.

The blackish-purple ground of the island slowly reverted back to normal as the thick layer of miasma covering the entire island was completely removed!

But of course, Miasma wasn’t going to take such an attack on its sovereignty over the island lying down either.

All the miasma that got pushed back started to condense in one place and gather immense power, and before Riya could react,

The dense miasma formed a phantom of resentment and hatred with its power and immediately launched an attack on Riya in an attempt to stop her!

Link, who was clinging to Riya’s arm like a lazy koala until now, immediately reacted to the attacker and took a step forward.

The miasmic phantom with no solid body of its own couldn’t possibly defend against an attack made with the power of a legendary skill and enchanted with purification energy of the light elementals!

Once hit by such a powerful attack, not only did its entire body blow apart into pieces, but even the miasma in the entire area was pushed back hundreds of meters just from the sheer density of the light elementals in the attack!

"Don’t bother attacking her; even if you bring a tide of miasma, I will still not let you put a single scratch on her!"

Standing in front of Riya like a shield, Link declared his unbending will to the miasma in the surroundings, forcing it to retreat.

He had already understood how things would have gone if not for the fact that Riya was always there for him; when he needed her, things would have gone completely haywire.

If not for her, he would have never reached the point where he was now.

In a world where even the heavens were jealous of him and wanted to kill him off at birth, Riya was the only person that kept Link anchored to this world.

And as she was a favored child of the ’world’ itself, her wishes were readily granted by the ’world.’

The main reason Link hasn’t fallen to the darkness until today is mainly because of Riya’s wish to remain by his side.

She wished a better future for him, and as long as her favor was protecting him from the dreadful fate imposed upon his existence by the heavenly will, he could remain who he was now.

If she were no more, he would cease to exist too and would just become another victim of the predestined fate of being a ’villain’ imposed on him by heaven’s will.

Originally Link couldn’t understand why he was always instinctively so protective of Riya and could not understand why he was always so grateful to her.

But now, after learning the truth, he was sure he needed to put just as much effort into protecting Riya as she had into protecting him from the sinister manipulation of the heavens!

All this time, Link wasn’t the only one protecting Riya; she was the one that had been protecting him from the disastrous face of the world!

"Oh! You are finally back to your normal self. That’s good news; I was starting to get worried..."

Seeing Link’s wide back protecting him like an indestructible shield, Riya smiled happily as she hugged him from behind.

"I am sorry I made you worried... sigh. Thank you for supporting me all this time, Riya; you are my greatest lucky star!"

Hearing those words, Riya giggled a bit and replied,

"Hehe~ You only realized that now? Well, you are just as much of a lucky star to me as I am to you, so I guess we are even."

Link nodded his head at Riya’s words and looked at Miki before saying,

"I apologize for not being there when my help was needed to protect this place; as a friend, I have failed you greatly."

"To make amends for it, I and Riya will help the Beast Nation take care of the matter of corruption on all the affected islands..."

Riya also nodded her head at those words.

"That’s a good idea; the atmosphere is too grim and distressing because of the disaster. Miki almost destroyed her path because of it..."

"We need to take things easier... so, while we are healing the islands, let’s visit some good food shops on the way too!"

"I haven’t had a single candy to eat since yesterday, and I am almost about to collapse from the backlash of the withdrawal symptoms due to not taking my required mandatory candy dose!"

Hearing those silly words from Riya’s mouth, a smile finally returned to Miki’s depressed face as she spoke.

"I know a famous sweets and candy store... I will take you there."

At Miki’s words, Riya jumped up in happiness!

"Now that’s more like it! Let’s go to that candy store right away! I will empty their shop and their factory today!"
