Just like always, the door of the cell opened with eerie creaking noises, and a group of mad researchers rushed inside to drag him away for their insane experiments.

"So this is the brat who has survived all seven high-concentration doses? Hoh? He has black hair and pupils! How rare! Black hair and pupils are said to have become almost extinct in the human race after mana descent!"

"Maybe having black hair and pupils is a sign of a high elemental affinity with the dark elemental? Is that why he survived such highly concentrated doses of dark elemental serum?"

"It’s possible. Maybe we should dissect his body to figure out the inner workings and see how his body has adapted to that serum."

"No way. Professor Daniel will not agree. He’s the only kid who’s survived all seven doses; we do not have other similar test subjects, losing him would put our project on jeopardy..."

"Don’t forget the main goal of the project requires living individuals, not a dead body."

The mad researchers chatted among each other while treating the young boy like a lab rat that had no feelings or thoughts of his own.

They discussed matters like carrying out dissection and experimentation on his body right in front of his face like lunatics that seemed to have lost all sense of morality.

The young boy tried to shrink back in the corner and run away from reality, but it was useless; his body had already been beaten into obedience through constant shock therapies every time he tried to disobey.

With them just waving their hands at him to follow them, his body moved on its own like an obedient mindless robot.

Even if he felt like the world was falling apart inside his mind, his body did not stop and obediently sat down on the experimentation chair on its own.

His hands moved on their own and bound his own body with chains and locks like an obedient sl*ve! He didn’t even dare utter a single word of disobedience, as he knew that doing so would earn him severe electrocution and a heavy beating.

"Hmm, I have researched this brat’s past through the net using his fingerprints and found that he’s named ’Zain’... I couldn’t find much information due to the major data hubs of the nations breaking down in the war..."

"But he’s clearly just a regular commoner with no history of having contact with prestigious families or clans..."

Hearing the words of the middle-aged researcher, the head professor and the person in charge of the entire research lab, Professor Daniel stared at Zain’s frail body with interest and muttered,

"That’s weird. How is he so compatible with the ’dark’ element if he’s not even from any major clan or family? Usually only those big clans and families have descendants with high elemental affinities..."

"Well, whatever, we can assume that this time we have become lucky and found ourselves the perfect test subject."

"In the future, we need to adjust our test subject capturing criteria, though. I just saw the news on the internet; it seems that the demon armies have retreated completely from the Maya continent."

"The Human race is rising rapidly and capturing humans will not be easy anymore, as all the humans that had settled on the Maya continent before would return back to the human empire..."

After mana descent, the entire human race fell into chaos. Powerful awakeners declared themselves kings in various nations, and the previous governments were all destroyed.

In the chaos of those dark times hundreds of thousands of humans escaped to the various continents of the world in search of new homelands.

Several such escaping groups found refuge on the Maya continent too.

Over the course of decades, thousands of humans settled down on the Maya continent, and many of them even lived among the dark elven cities.

Although dark elves weren’t as kind as the fair-skinned elves who believed in the world tree, they had no reason to discriminate against humans either, so humans managed to settle down on the Maya continent peacefully.

If not for the demon armies launching massive-scale invasions, the Maya continent could have become a peaceful paradise for both the Dark Elves and the humans living there.

Unfortunately, peace was fragile in this chaotic world where many different factions and organizations were clashing for resources and power.

In the race of survival, the dark elven race lost its footing and got left far behind others.

Now what was left of the dark elves was just degeneration and chaos in every corner of the Maya continent.

Dark elves and humans could live peacefully before the war, but now that circumstances had changed so drastically, these dark elven researchers felt no qualms in making their former comrades into test subjects!

"A powerful person called ’Allen Von Reinhart’ has appeared among the human race, and he’s unified the entire human empire."

"Humans from all over the world are returning back to their homeland at his call. Now that the war is over, it would be difficult for us to find such excellent test subjects like this brat here..."

"So I am warning you lot, don’t kill the brat; he has more value in being alive than being dead!"

"He has high elemental affinity and has survived full seven doses of dark elemental serum... we need to adjust the ration of the other doses and inject the other elementals in his body to observe the changes..."

The eyes of the various scientists lit up with excitement as they stared at Zain’s frail body like they were looking at a treasure!
