Chapter 875: What do you seek in the future? Part-1.
The Demon Continent had many kinds of beautiful scenery; there were hills where thunderbolts rained endlessly, and there were lakes where it rained poison all year long.
There were even flat plains that had lush black grass growing all over them with hundreds of different demon tribes living among them.
But right now, Rio had no more time to slowly explore these places and experience the novelty of them.
The meeting with Zain was unexpected but also quite fruitful.
Rio not only managed to find a solid ’Push’ for his next ’path,’ but he even managed to deepen his understanding of his ’Path’ to a great extent.
But of course, the unexpected meeting pushed Rio even closer to advancement, and it was now becoming more and more difficult to hold back the advancement.
Moreover, Zain took another piece of his broken heart away with him when he died a complete death, making Rio lose even more emotions.
The clock was now ticking faster than ever, and Rio did not have much time left to waste.
Thus, without stopping, Rio rushed straight to the south pole of the planet and finally arrived at the Demon King Palace, located right at the top of a massive glacier shaped like a mountain.
The Demon King Palace was a masterpiece of architecture; just one look at it was enough to mesmerize anyone.
"A castle inlaid with gold atop the black meteorite polished marble mixed with adamantine and other rare metals like mithril... even a random broken piece of the walls of this castle would sell for billions in the world alliance..."
Unlike what Rio had imagined, the demon castle seemed like a very cozy and comfortable place to live in.
The entire demon continent was filled with barbaric demons who fought and killed each other every day and competed for hegemony among each other like lowly beings, while the elegant Demon Castle stood atop a snow glacier and watched it all calmly.
This castle was a perfect representation of how only the Demon King was special among the entire demon race.
Every other demon was just a disposable pawn of miasma; only the Demon King was a special case.
"If you like it that much... I don’t mind giving it to you."
Hearing those words, Rio scoffed and looked to his side before saying,
"It’s a nice place, but I can see that it’s also a lonely coffin... miasma has placed powerful restrictions here... only a selected few can make it inside, no?"
At some point, the Demon King Nebo Dahaka had already appeared beside Rio.
"Well, being a Demon King makes you a complete pawn of miasma; your entire body and soul become dedicated to miasma."
"Usually, most beings end up dead or have their souls shattered when a lot of miasma is infused into them... only once in a few centuries does a demon appear with extremely high miasma tolerance!"
"These high-tolerance demons are the only ones who can ascend to the Demon Throne and seize authority over the lives of billions of demons..."
A faint smile appeared on the Demon King’s face as he stretched out his palm towards Rio and extended a very tempting offer to him.
"In the current time and age, nobody in the universe has more miasmic tolerance and control than you."
"If you wish, you can ascend to the Throne of the Demon Race immediately and gain the power of a ’Demon King’ anytime you want."
"The Demon Throne will not only just offer you this castle, but governance over the life of trillions of demons... you will have an army of demons that will march to any place and will follow your orders with utmost loyalty..."
"The armies of the current weakened world alliance don’t even compare to this..."
Hearing those words, Rio looked at the elegant-looking Demon Castle once again and spoke,
"Well, I don’t really need the support of armies or demons; I could destroy this world on my own if I wanted to..."
"Moreover, this castle is heavily imbued with miasma in every part of it... I can’t even bring Lia here for sightseeing; it just looks pleasing to the eye, otherwise it’s completely useless..."
The armies of the world alliance once drove the demon race close to extinction on this continent, and yet they didn’t harm this castle, which symbolized the eternal prosperity of the demon race.
This was a clear indication that the Demon Castle was deeply ingrained with the power of miasma and corruption; not only could it self-repair itself, but even a small gem inlaid in its walls carried enough miasma to bewitch an SS ranker!
"Hahaha, only you would dare say that this thing is useless... but well, I have been confined to this place for a thousand years, so I can’t exactly say it’s a pleasant place either..."
"But for you... it can be a ’home’ if you want..."
Hearing those words, Rio’s eyes narrowed a bit for a second, but then he shook his head.
"No... although miasma feels ’comfortable’ and ’familiar’ to me... Home to me is where Lia is. I can’t stay here."
"Moreover... I can already feel that I would figure out why I feel so comfortable with miasma sooner or later. Thus, there’s no need to hurry..."
A smile appeared on the Demon King’s face after hearing that solemn declaration.
"Hahaha, I knew you would not accept it all so easily... well, it’s not like it matters much to me... all I wanted was to meet you and pass on my memories to you."
"My wish is almost about to be fulfilled... So, how about I entertain you for a little while."
"The castle... how about I give you a small tour of it? It’s got an impressive-looking throne room, an elegant dining hall, a vast library filled with tomes from various ages, many mysterious rooms filled with uncertainties..."
"And last but not least, it’s got the greatest treasury in the world filled with all sorts of treasures that can’t be found in any other place of the world..."
