Chapter 876: What do you seek in the future? Part-2.
Demon King Castle, Main Treasury.
"So you met Zain Dred’s lingering ghost? Well... he’s been quite a pleasant neighbor for a long time now... but to think that he has finally found peace, that sounds quite nice."
"Such an ending is much better than rotting in the palms of miasma and dying with immense regrets... In this regard, I envy him a lot..."
While listening to the words of the Demon King, Rio looked at the massive treasury and felt quite fascinated.
The Demon Palace treasury was a massive underground hall created with space-warping techniques, and it was big enough to fit an entire city inside of it!
As far as the eye could see, there were countless rare weapons and treasures from many different races piled up everywhere, forming small hills all around the area!
Any random weapon or treasure from these endless piles of treasures was enough to make even peak S rankers feel tempted!
Moreover, there were several SS-rank weapons that could be used in battle, and there were many that served various mysterious purposes.
"King Allen once almost destroyed all the dungeons across the world and looted massive amounts of resources and artifacts... most of them now rest in this treasury or in hidden storerooms located across the solar system."
"Before starting his final journey, he came to visit the Demon Castle and placed nearly all of his treasures here... including ’Vinash,’ which you now possess..."
"If you want, you can take any of them... I don’t utilize them either way, and the demons working for me are mostly just mindless beasts who can’t use equipment..."
Intelligent and sane demons like Alverto, Ratna, etc. were very few in number among the demon race; even if the Demon King had a massive treasury filled with powerful artifacts, most of the demon race could not use it at all.
"If the world alliance knew that you had this many treasures here... they would have launched another campaign against the demons in the past thousand years just to reclaim these treasures of King Allen..."
Rio only gave a wry smile as he examined some random miscellaneous items before putting them away.
"To powerful SS-rankers like you and Zain, these items might not be worth much, but to the world alliance that has always been lacking resources, this is a goldmine..."
"Why would King Allen even leave it all here?"
Hearing Rio’s question, the Demon King picked up a random headpiece from the pile and replied in a voice,
"To motivate the world alliance essentially... to make them work together after he left and keep aiming for the common enemy that is the demon race..."
"He likely left the knowledge about this treasure to his adopted children who later declared themselves royalty in this human race..."
"But those greedy fellows got annihilated before they could organize armies to march to this place and seize the treasure..."
After hearing those words, Rio lost interest in the treasures and started walking towards the exit.
"I see... so even King Allen himself had a feeling that he might not succeed and there was a need to prepare backup..."
The Demon King shrugged his shoulders as he followed behind Rio in a relaxed manner.
"Well, one can never be too sure about their plans succeeding... especially when you are going against miasma, you can never be too careful."
"Miasma is expert in exploiting even the smallest loopholes and can easily notice any kind of weakness... you must be aware of it too, after all, you use miasma as a second energy source too..."
Rio had once used miasma to increase his lethality and defeat Link head-on during the tournament of supreme talents.
That was his first time using miasma against anyone, and Rio had already realized how lethal this power was by the end of the match.
Even Link’s Dao Rhythm could not perfectly patch up all weaknesses; Miasma was able to grind Link to the point that the other party could not keep up and got defeated in the end.
"Oh, this is the art room; paintings from famous artists are stored here... I myself spent a lot of time here..."
"A thousand years is a long time; your greatest enemy is boredom. To avoid this utter boredom, you have no other choice but to distract yourself with worldly desires..."
Rio didn’t know sh*t about art, but even he could tell that all images and paintings in that room were masterpieces.
One of the paintings that was only half-completed caught Rio’s attention.
It depicted a black wolf standing atop a planet that seemed too small to contain its enormous powerful body and miasma retreating far away from the planet due to the presence of the wolf.
’A depiction of a future... the black wolf, that’s me, isn’t it...’
Rio could sense a connection with that painting and could even sense a familiar sword intent like feeling from the eyes of that wolf.
’But... who’s that person lying dead there...’
On the small planet, there was a purple-haired man lying in the arms of a golden-haired young boy who seemed to be grieving at the death of the purple-haired man.
Rio couldn’t understand this image, but he knew that the scene depicted something that was supposed to happen in the future.
"Oh this painting... about this, I actually have some information to give you can you stretch out your sword for a second?"
Rio was confused by the words, but he did as he was asked and lent his sword to the Demon King for a second.
"As I thought, just touching this sword sends a shiver down my spine... it’s not something any random person can handle, even I will get annihilated out of existence if forcefully tried to use it..."
The Demon King admired the sword for a second and then sealed a small memory inside the sword before returning it to Rio.
"I have recorded a coordinate and time in this memory; please go to this coordinate at the exact time despite the memory in the future..."
"This may bring you a pleasant surprise."
Rio didn’t know why the Demon King was being so cryptic about this matter, but he didn’t care.
The time recorded in the memory suggested that there was still about one year left before he needed to head to this recorded coordinate.
By that point he would have long been invincible, so there was no need to worry too much about falling into a trap or something.
