Chapter 771: The Negotiation. Part-2.

As Rio pushed a cup of tea towards the Demon King, he spoke,

"Freeing Raika was a cunning trick to lead me away from the planet so that you could capture people to blackmail me... but to be honest with you, I seriously do not care one bit about this planet or anyone living on it..."

"Even if you slaughtered the entire planet, I might not feel sad at all... at most it will only give me a reason... a reason to slaughter the demon race without feeling bad for them..."

The Demon King’s eyes widened a bit in surprise after hearing those words.

"T-that couldn’t be... from what I have observed through the strings of destiny for so long. You are quite generous to those close to you..."

"Also, you have worked a lot for your people in the human empire; why would you abandon them so easily..."

Rio leaned against the back of the chair after hearing those words, looked at the star-filled cosmos and replied calmly,

"That’s just me trying to fit in with the others."

"I have lost most of my emotions for some reason. The only reason I am pretending to ’Act’ like a normal human being is because I love Lia and I don’t want her to hate me for being too indifferent..."

"Sigh... it’s kind of complicated, but I guess I just want to keep clinging to my humanity, but it just keeps slipping through my grasp every time I try to get closer to it..."

"If not for Lia and the fact that I am quite good at acting, I would have likely already lost every bit of my humanity and would have chosen to stay in the spirit realm permanently..."

Hearing Rio’s words, the Demon King went silent for a moment, took a sip of the tea that Rio made with sword intent, and nodded his head in satisfaction due to the exquisite taste.

"Actually, about your emotions. I can tell you about the reason behind it all."

"The reason why you are losing them, the reason why you are so bizarre... and the reason why you exist in the first place."

Rio wasn’t surprised by the Demon King’s words at all.

The Demon King possessed the ability to read and watch the strings of destiny of the entire universe through his legendary skill, ’Destined Fate.’

Nebo Dahaka was capable of finding the origins of Rio through the strings of destiny that were connected to this body, which used to belong to the Rio of this world.

Although Rio has taken over this body and his own soul now dominates every inch of it, it is still something that belongs to this universe, not him.

Thus, for the Demon King, it’s possible to find out a lot of details about it with the help of heavenly luck.

Rio didn’t know exactly what legendary skill the demon king had until he came to see him in person.

If he knew that the demon king had this kind of ability, Rio would have completely forbidden the demon king from sensing his situation.

’Well, ’True Immunity’ and that ’Mysterious Force’ residing within me that makes me immune to most things and makes me the ’Anomaly’ usually don’t activate unless someone tries to harm me...’

’The Demon King likely had no thoughts of harming me, so my skills never activated to block him...’

"You have observed me quite closely it seems... you won’t be able to do it in the future though, as I now know what you are capable of."

"Also, don’t peep on my girlfriend, or it will be causing an unnecessary destruction of the demon race..."

Hearing those words, the Demon King nodded his head in acknowledgement.

"I am not idiotic enough to break the only shackle that’s holding down a monstrosity like you from going rogue."

"Also, can you stop threatening the demon race every time you speak about something? It makes you seem like you are eager to fight and destroy everything."

Rio smirked at those words, sipped his tea and replied calmly,

"I am eager to fight... and destroy everything actually. But as a human being and someone with a good ’moral compass’, I prefer knowing everything before taking the final decision..."

"As I have lived among humans and have visited almost all nations on this planet in the past few years, I am quite familiar with them all by now..."

"I know a lot about them, and I know that most of the people living there in peace are innocent..."

Saying those words, Rio stared straight into the demon king’s eyes and continued speaking.

"The main reason why I still haven’t come to a conclusion is because I haven’t personally visited the demon continent and haven’t listened to their side of the story..."

"Most of the world considers the demon empire to be filled with death, violence, deceit, and destruction. But I haven’t seen it all myself with my own eyes, so I am not inclined to make a hasty assumption..."

The Demon King’s eyes narrowed at those words as he asked in a surprised tone,

"I did know that you are inclined to be neutral in most situations and prefer peace over continuous violence..."

"But even I am surprised that you are willing to visit the demon empire before making the final choice..."

"That’s good news actually. Just you agreeing to see the Demon Continent by yourself has already made this meeting worthwhile for me."

Rio waved his hand at those words and spoke,

"Don’t be hasty; I am not forgiving you. I am doing this for the sake of Alverto, Aurora and my own ’future’. ..."

"Alverto and Aurora caused massive chaos and even killed the parents of this body of mine, but they have already got what they deserved, so I don’t particularly hate them anymore..."

"And I must admit, Alverto’s desperation did impress me quite a bit... if I don’t at least give one chance to the demon race to prove itself, I would be disrespecting the noble sacrifice of ’Hero’ Alverto."

Alverto had killed original Rio’s parents and was a villain that many people in the world hated, but that matter had already been settled; there was no need for Rio to keep destroying himself with ’hatred.’

It was better to move on from it and look at the world more maturely instead.
