Reborn As Noble

Chapter 1225: Comfort in His Arms ( 1225 )

Chapter 1225: Comfort in His Arms ( 1225 )

"You all know how Armand has survived two major wars without suffering a single casualty among our civilians or military. You know how our people live in comfort, how our markets thrive, how our cities are clean and our borders secure."

He paused, letting the weight of his words settle.

"It was achieved through foresight, planning, and understanding the truth of any situation. I see what others miss. I know what others don’t. And I act on that knowledge."

He leaned forward slightly, his presence dominating the room.

"So, when I say I will correct your flaws... understand that it is not out of arrogance, but out of necessity. I do not need to explain how I know what I know. I only need you to trust that when I speak, it is with clarity, with foresight, and with truth. Your only task now is to listen, to answer honestly, and to plan without pride or pretense."

Meanwhile.

Javier ran out of the building and rushed toward the next room, his heart pounding.

Please... don’t let anything happen to Liana.

I wonder why she suddenly broke down like this?

She never once cries like this...

The only time I saw her cry was years ago, back when I tried to refuse Father and Mother’s suggestion to attend noble school. It was when they said they would dismiss Liana if I kept refusing and avoiding it. I accepted and went to noble school because I couldn’t bear to lose her.

He opened the main door and headed inside, casting his Purify and Cleanse skills while rushing to the sink to wash his hands thoroughly.

Ugh! I need to be fast. But at the same time, I can’t risk contaminating the patient area or bringing in any outside impurities.

After making sure he was properly attired, he opened the second door and rushed inside.

And saw it.

Liana was sitting on the floor in a childish, defeated posture, her knees tucked under her, her back slightly hunched, and both hands covering her eyes as she sobbed quietly, her shoulders shaking with each soft, muffled cry.

Javier glanced around and noticed everyone else in the room were all slumped in chairs or leaning against benches, breathing deeply.

Wh... what just happened? Did someone attack?

Is it the curse parasite? Did it somehow affect Liana?

His heart raced as he walked quickly toward her.

Liana, hearing footsteps behind her, turned her head. Her lips were pursed, her lower lip trembling as tears glistened in her emerald eyes.

"Young master!!!" She stood up in a rush and ran toward him, burying her face against his shoulder as she sobbed. "Uwaaa!!! Now I can’t... I can’t..."

"Shhh..." Javier whispered into her ear, gently stroking her back. "It’s okay... I’m here. Just breathe... calm down..." He held her close, waiting for her sobs to soften before asking softly, "Liana... what happened? Why are you crying like this?"

"I was... I was just..." Liana said between sobs, her voice muffled against the fabric of Javier’s shirt.

Javier kept trying to comfort her, gently caressing her head.

"There, there... I’m here. Stop crying already..." Javier’s voice was soft and soothing, almost a whisper. "Just tell me what happened, okay?"

"Mm..." Liana nodded, pulling slightly away from Javier’s body before mumbling softly.

"Kalea came to our room... just as we were about to sleep and rest... and said Myra was requesting my presence here..." She paused, biting her lower lip. "So I came here thinking that maybe something had happened to her."

"Did something happen to Gracelle?"

Liana pursed her lips and shook her head. "No... When I arrived, Myra said it was Gracelle who wanted to meet me. So... I went to her room... and asked her if she needed something."

Liana glanced up at Javier with shimmering eyes.

"She just wanted to meet me because she said she couldn’t sleep if... if she didn’t see me. So I just accompanied her. I asked her something... and yet... she refused to rest. I was already tired and just... just wanted to sleep. And when I scolded her and told her to rest... she said she still couldn’t sleep."

"Umm..." Javier looked into her eyes before Liana continued.

"So I just sang a lullaby for her... so she could sleep. And after she fell asleep, I... I was going to leave and couldn’t wait to get back to our room so I could sleep... only to find out..."

Javier tilted his head in confusion. "Find out about what?"

Liana buried her face again and sobbed into his chest. "Everyone was affected by the lullaby... and fell asleep... Now... now... because of that... I can’t... I can’t leave this room. All I want is to sleep, but... but... when everyone is sleeping... how... how can I leave... this room?"

"Sheesh..." Javier chuckled softly while patting her back and smiling. "You scared me there, crying over something like that. I thought something terrible had happened."

"So everyone just fell asleep, right? Nothing dangerous happened?"

He kept caressing her head and planted a quick kiss on top of it.

"If it’s just that, you didn’t need to cry, you know." Javier smiled. "After this, we’ll go back to our room so you can rest, okay?"

He hugged her tightly but noticed Liana didn’t move or sob anymore.

Hmm? Why did she suddenly go quiet?

He tried to shake her gently and noticed her body had gone limp. Her breathing was slow and steady, deep with exhaustion, already fallen asleep.

Ah... looks like she’s too tired.

Well... can’t blame her.

It’s my fault for keeping her and the others up all night.

But... I’m really relieved to know nothing dangerous happened.

He let out a soft chuckle, his expression softening as he looked down at her sleeping face. Gently, he adjusted his hold, one arm behind her knees and the other supporting her back, lifting her carefully. She murmured something in her sleep, nestling her face against his chest.

"Let’s get you to bed, my beautiful elf," he whispered, carrying her carefully. He was about to head out of the room when he noticed the situation.

Ah... I can’t just leave this place without someone watching over the patient, and...

He glanced around.

Especially with everyone fallen asleep like this.

He adjusted his hold on Liana, making sure she was comfortable against his chest, her head resting on his shoulder. With his free hand, he channeled mana and tapped his mana talkie.

"Juria... you there?"

A moment passed before a soft crackle was heard.

"Yes, Your Highness?"

"What are you doing right now?"

"Nothing at the moment, Your Highness. Is there anything you need?"

"Ah... sorry... I know you and the others just finished your four-hour shift. But could you arrange to split your team for another extra shift?" Javier let out a sheepish, soft laugh. "Something has happened and... there’s a slight problem. Nothing too serious... but it requires you and your healer team to work... umm... an extra shift?"

"Hmm? Isn’t Miss Myra, Kalea, and the other healers on duty right now?"

Javier let out another soft laugh. "Well... that’s the problem... they’re... umm... taking an unexpected nap. I’ll explain later, but for now, I need someone reliable to monitor the patient and the treatment area."
