Chapter 1336: Supernatural
Chapter 1336: Supernatural
And in the sea of golden aura, a strange new phenomenon was happening.
Ethereal figures of humans. Their very souls itself. They began to float upwards, unbothered by the currents or the Magical Monsters writhing under the sea of golden aura.
They looked towards Michael and gave him a nod.
Then, they continued to float upwards, towards the ceiling, and up to whatever reality they were going to. Contentment and gratitude was painted all over their faces, as if they had finally been freed from a prison that they had suffered long and hard from.
What was left in the sea of golden aura were disfigured forms of flesh and cartilage and bones. Without the human souls empowering these creatures and creating a sense of unity within their mismatched bodies, they began to melt.
And for a second, Michael saw their souls too. Animals; eagles, bears, ants. These were creatures without sentience like that of humans. But they had souls too. And now, they were finally freed.
Then, the golden sea receded back into the golden magic circles.
What was left was only Michael, hovering above everything with a golden aura surrounding him.
This was supposed to be impossible.
Michael had separated the soul from the body. The body from the soul. He had used the DNA in these chimeric creatures and figured out which of these connected to the very soul of life itself.
This wasn’t just magic nor science. It had far surpassed that and moved on over to the supernatural side.
But Michael knew he had to do it. If he wanted to save these poor creatures from a fate worse than death, then he had to bridge that gap.
Magic and science combined. This wasn’t even supposed to happen. Like water and oil itself.
However, what was Michael’s power? Was it not adaptation? So, he simply adapted himself so that he could do it. He adapted so that he could control both magic and aubility power and science!
That was the power of a Nascent Spirit cultivator!
And it was at this moment that he felt something.
[+1 Spirit]
[+1 Spirit]
[+1 Spirit]
...
A warmth in his heart. In his core. In his very soul itself.
And he looked up and saw the souls that he had saved earlier. The humans. The animals. The beast. They were now giving a part of themselves in order to empower the Spirit in his Nascent Core.
They had filled him to the brim.
[1000/1000]
He had reached the limit for the 2nd stage of the Nascent Spirit realm, allowing him to finally break through to the next stage.
The Core in his heart felt even denser than before. A lot hotter. Then, as the Spirit in his body reached its limit, Michael felt as if something inside him was about to burst.
Golden light seeped out of his chest, before enveloping his entire body.
Outside the cavern itself, the ground shook upon his breakthrough. The reverberations were felt all throughout the Sacred Tree, the demi-human kingdom, and the Chasm itself!
They all thought as if something was awakening deep inside the depths of the Earth itself!
But what was weird was that they didn’t feel even a twinge of fear. It was more like... comfort. They felt serene after feeling that tremor on the ground, as if a protector and a guardian of theirs had finally shown signs of awakening after a long time.
It was the glimmer of light in pure darkness. A breath of air underwater. It was something that they knew, instinctively, was something that would be beneficial for their entire race and their entire being itself.
That feeling lasted only for a few seconds. Then, it was gone. Even their memory of that image was gone. They could only mutter out loud, wondering what it was that they felt just a few moments ago.
Meanwhile, in the Sacred Tree, Theresa and Levi both looked towards a certain direction, and knew immediately that someone had just broken through to the next stage.
They looked at each other.
"Is it him again?"
The Nymph Monarch, on the other hand, chuckles by herself after feeling those tremors. "Fufufu.... He awakens. He will soon show his true powers..."
Her eyes glimmered strangely, as if she knew more than she was letting on. Those thousands upon thousands of years of history had led her to understand the deeper meaning about life.
And right now, she knew that Michael was slowly reaching his true potential.
...
...
...
Michael opened his eyes. He was still in the cavern, hovering up near the ceiling.
He looked down at his own figure. He had grown even taller. His figure, even leaner. It was as if he had experienced another growth spurt, but mostly towards his musculature.
If anyone looked at him, they would think that he was about eighteen to twenty years old.
And of course, the power in his own body had experienced another substantial leap.
"So this is the 3rd stage of the Nascent Spirit realm."
[Spirit: 2,450/10,000]
Just as he expected, the next realm was a lot harder than the last one. Thankfully, the Spirits he earned this time around was enough for a few leftovers.
He couldn’t help but thank the unfortunate souls that had to be sacrificed in order for him to achieve this breakthrough.
The least he could do was offer them a goodbye.
He looked down at the cavern and snapped his fingers. Another magic circle appeared, letting out tons and tons of soil, burying the entire mess of carnage on the ground.
Then, with another magic circle, he willed for a field of grass and flowers to grow in this new graveyard.
This was the least he could do.
Now that he had given them a proper send-off, he exited away from the cavern and let them rest into eternity peacefully.
He exited out of the cavern and returned back to the Sacred Tree, with the souls he saved waving at him from behind.
