Chapter 1337: Alliances made

Chapter 1337: Alliances made

Michael returned to the celebrations in the Sacred Tree, with his appearance turning a lot of heads towards his direction. There was just something different about him now. It wasn’t just the fact that he had grown taller, more muscular, and had become even more handsome than he was before. But it was also the indescribable effect one had when being in such close proximity to him.

It was as if they could feel the golden aura on him. And it made them feel secure. Made them feel comfortable.

Michael noticed it immediately. Must be my innate Nascent Influence. Even without me using it, there is still a small amount of it leaking out and creating this effect.

In game terms, it would be like a passive. Anyone close to him would feel a certain sense of comfortability, allowing for them to perform at a much better rate than they would have if he wasn’t there.

Just as he was about to walk towards his soldiers, he saw something move towards him at the side.

It was the Red Mankeys. Specifically, the soldiers from the 2nd rank general from before. The very same ones they had traded with, and the very same ones who weren’t affected by the brainwashing effects of the Ersatz.

"Greetings," said the beret-wearing general. He kneeled towards Michael in deference. "I would like to personally express my gratitude for you saving my brethren."

Michael waved it off. "Your monarch did most of the work. She was able to get rid of the brainwashing effect on the other Red Mankey soldiers safely."

"Yes," the Red Mankey general said. "But if it weren’t for you, our Monarch wouldn’t have been able to escape. Without you, this entire demi-human kingdom would be in the hands of those evil, soulless people.

And for that, we thank you."

The thousands of other Red Mankey soldiers behind the general all kneeled towards Michael. It was at this point that he also noticed that the other demi-human citizens in the Sacred Tree were also kneeling towards him in thanks.

In their culture, kneeling was the highest form of deference. It was something that should only be done for their Monarch. But now, they were also doing it for Michael.

"You have shown us that we could have a life that isn’t revolving around the darkness. That we could experience the outside world. That we could be friends with humans. You made us believe that we weren’t different from others.

That is an ideal that I strongly treasure. And for that, I offer you my undying loyalty. I wish to serve under your rule. Say the word, and I shall wage war upon any enemy that dare to tarnish that ideal of yours."

The thousands upon thousands of Red Mankey soldiers behind the general all stomped their feet in unison, showing Michael a face of absolute dedication.

They were all serious about wanting to serve for him. He was thankful, of course. Excited, even. However, he knew that it wasn’t that simple.

"But don’t you serve under the demi-human kingdom? Don’t you serve under your monarch?"

"Hehehe, it’s fine."

From behind him, the Nymph Monarch appeared carrying a bottle of beer in her hands. Her green, leafy face had a reddish tint, with her voice having that subtle slurring effect. She was drunk.

"We’re already allies, aren’t we?"

"But if I were to take away a third of your entire army, how will you protect this place?" he asked seriously.

"Kukukuku, well. That is true," said the Nymph, tilting her head. "But... don’t you also have your own source of protection? Those Orcs of yours seem pretty powerful..."

Michael slowly nodded his head as he understood what she was trying to get at.

It seemed that she wanted an exchange of power.

She would give an entire division of her Red Mankey army towards Michael, and in exchange, he would be posting some of his Shadow Orcs here in the Chasm in order to protect it.

This was a very fair deal, one that Michael was definitely excited to make.

"I can deal with that," he said. "In fact, I’ll do even more than just send a few Shadow Orcs here. I’ll probably also send some of my citizens here as a sort of exchange program. We have blacksmiths, agriculturists, and all sorts of talented people who could make this demi-human kingdom flourish even more."

Hearing this, the Nymph immediately chuckled with mirth. "Hehehe! Deal! Of course, if you also want to trade some of those phones for my demi-humans to use, that would be great."

Michael immediately agreed.

"Oh, and I see that you’ve Awakened the talent of one of my soldiers. Loren, he was called, right?

This means that you can also awaken the other talents of our demi-humans, correct?"

Michael nodded. "Yes. I’m planning on awakening the talent of the Red Mankeys that will be joining our army."

The Nymph smiled. "Why don’t you add the other Red Mankeys as well? Maybe some of my citizens too! Heck, maybe do all of them!"

It was at this point that Michael realized that she was definitely getting more out of the deal than he was.

After all, he’d be awakening the talent of every single demi-human here, making them a lot more powerful and productive. In exchange, she only had to give away a few thousand Red Mankey soldiers.

But of course, Michael wasn’t mad about that.

The stronger the demi-human kingdom, the stronger Reborn would be. That was what an alliance was supposed to be, after all.

"General," he said to the beret-wearing Red Mankey. "What is your name?"

"My name is Uralu."

"Uralu. You should talk with Loren about the entire army you guys are going to make. I’ll awaken your talents later."

The Red Mankey general nodded, before allowing his soldiers to march forwards, now joining the rest of the human Rebornian soldiers in formation. There were all sorts of celebrations, hugging, and camaraderie already forming between the two divisions.

"Michael... can we talk?"

His attention was torn away by both Levi and Theresa, who had something to say to him.
