Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family

Chapter 1342: Back to the surface

Chapter 1342: Back to the surface

Soon after the celebrations, everyone went to work.

Michael and the rest of the human factions returned back to the Chasm, surprising the independent adventuring parties that were hanging back.

"Woah! They’re back!"

"I’m guessing they were successful in capturing the demi-human kingdom. I wonder who won out in the end?"

"I’ll bet it’s the Vanderbilts. Levi is pretty good at battles."

"Theresa was late to the party, but with her Coalition, I think she could have made a massive difference and turned the situation around."

"But what about the Reborn company? Aren’t they the ones that entered the demi-human kingdom first?"

"Yeah, they were pretty strong. But is that enough for them to defeat the demi-human kingdom, and the two other Conglomerate factions? It’s highly unlikely."

All sorts of speculation were thrown around. Some true, some false. There were rumors that the Vanderbilts and the Goldstones eventually reached a peaceful agreement between the two, and with their combined forces, they were able to conquer the demi-human kingdom with ease.

"Okay, that seems likely. But I just find it hard to believe that those two will want to suddenly become allies. Don’t you remember the skirmishes between them?"

"I do. But look!"

A gathering of adventuring parties saw a massive army march down from the darkness, eventually reaching near the light of the entrance of the Chasm.

"It’s the Vanderbilts!"

The first army to march forwards bore the insignia of the Vanderbilts, leading people to believe that they had won.

"But wait! Look who’s behind them!"

Soon after the Vanderbilts, the Coalition of the Goldstones marched forwards as well. Many people noted that the distance between the two armies was very small. Some would even say insignificant.

It was as if they were truly part of the same alliance.

"See? I told you! They are working together!"

"But where’s the demi-humans that they captured?"

That question was soon answered by the marching of Red Mankeys right behind Theresa’s army.

These bright-furred demi-humans immediately caught the attention of the independent parties watching at the entrance of the Chasm.

"So they did capture the demi-humans..."

"But wait... why aren’t they in chains? And what’s that on their hands? Are they... are they drinking something?"

People saw the Red Mankeys in a completely jolly mood. It was as if they were happy, instead of gutted. How could they laugh and talk and giggle when the entire demi-human kingdom had been conquered?

It didn’t make sense. The demi-humans still had their weapons on them. And they were walking right behind the Conglomerate armies!

What was happening? Aren’t Levi and Theresa both worried that they were going to get backstabbed by these mankeys?

It was at this point that an entirely new faction emerged from the darkness of the chasm.

Behind the soldiers, behind the caravans containing valuable resources, the flag of the Nation of Reborn was waving high and mighty.

Seeing this, everyone’s eyes widened.

This... this was a declaration of success!

"Wait... did all three of them form alliances to defeat the demi-human kingdom?"

"That seems to have been the likely outcome. And they may have captured these Red Mankeys to become their own personal soldiers."

"But if all three of them made an alliance, why did the Reborn company get the privilege of waving that flag?"

That declaration of success was only reserved for the leader of the campaign. If all three of them were truly in an alliance, then it would make sense if they all waved their own flags to signify that no one could have completed the mission without the other.

If there was anyone who would wave their flag alone, then it should have been the two other Conglomerates.

But instead, only Reborn waved their flag.

And the Vanderbilt army and the Goldstone Conglomerates didn’t do anything about it. They were okay with it.

What did this mean?

This kind of symbolism would send waves throughout the Royal Continent.

There weren’t just adventurers here. There were some people here acting as informants for other companies and other Conglomerates as well. Especially the Conglomerates.

Immediately, all sorts of spies sent out their messages back to their companies.

And most definitely, there would be some factions from the Vanderbilts and the Goldstones who would be informed about this outcome.

The result... was still unknown. After all, everything was still speculation up to this point.

So, they watched as the three armies marched out of the Chasm and back into their camps.

And strangely enough, the Red Mankey army came straight towards the Rebornian camp, signifying their allegiance.

Before Levi and Theresa could even sit down in their office desks and have a little bit of respite after everything that happened, they were already inundated with all sorts of messages and requests for meetings.

Everyone wanted to know about what truly happened in the demi-human kingdom.

Why were the Red Mankeys allowed to roam freely?

They didn’t answer immediately. Theresa was given courtesy to get her belongings straight before she gave the eventual announcement of denouncing her Goldstone name in favor of becoming a Rebornian.

Levi, on the other hand, had to prepare himself for the eventual backlash he would face from his family over the ’failure’ of this Chasm. His siblings would use this as their weapon in order to make sure that he wouldn’t get the inheritance.

This left the Reborn company the only one who publicly announced a message.

Michael’s words were simple.

"From here on out, the Reborn company will protect the Chasm and all of its inhabitants."

They didn’t have to use their speakerphones to make those words resound throughout the entirety of the Royal Continent. He only had to send a letter to the messengers who requested a meeting from him, and they would do the rest to gossip those words to everyone else.

"WHAT?!"

"They’re the ones who gets to build the bridge in the Chasm?! But aren’t they all in an alliance? Why only them?"

"Wait... he said ’inhabitants’... did he mean the demi-humans? Is that why there’s Red Mankeys in their camp? Did they actually form an alliance with the demi-humans instead of destroying them?!"
