Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family

Chapter 1343: Sending messages

Chapter 1343: Sending messages

That announcement was soon backed up by the fact that Rebornian workers started to appear, holding construction materials with them as if they were truly ready to work on the monumental task of bridging the edges of the Chasm.

"This is insane! They’re really the ones that gets to build the bridge? Aren’t Levi and Therese going to do something about this?"

However, the extreme reaction from the warring sides did not happen. Instead, they were silent. Basically an agreement with the Rebornian announcement.

This made the situation even more confusing! If the three of them did eventually reach a peaceful alliance, then why did it seem as if only the Reborn company got to have all the benefits of the mission?

And what truly happened inside that illusory wall for the Red Mankeys who seemed to have a hatred for all humans, to suddenly work with the Rebornians as if nothing had happened. Just a few days ago, these two species were completely bloodthirsty against each other in a bid to exterminate the other.

Eventually though, Levi had to explain himself to the rest of his allies.

A messenger. Straight from the Vanderbilt estate itself appeared at Levi’s camp, carrying the edict of none other than the great lion himself, Yze Vanderbilt.

Levi was preparing for the worst. Exile. Acquittal from the succession. Or worse, death.

But when he opened the letter, he saw that the contents of that message didn’t contain any of those three.

Instead, it contained strange words that seemed as if Yze was... excited?

{My son. It seems that you have chosen a side. This must mean that you have seen the true potential of your opponent and felt it wise to become their ally. This is your choice. You live by it. You die by it.}

Levi slumped to his chair, not understanding anything that his father had written to him.

"What is this?.... Why is father acting like this?"

Normally, Levi’s actions should be treated as nothing less than treason! The Reborn company was nothing more than an upstart Lower Echelon organization who were still wet behind the ears.

Usually, Yze would condemn his children for choosing such a weak alliance. They would force them to break off that connection in favor of something stronger, something that would actually help their company.

And if they did eventually choose the right ally, then Yze would commend them. They would send them praise and adulations.

But what Levi received was none of that.

Instead, it was strangely... competitive. It was as if the great Lion, Yze Vanderbilt himself, was considering the Reborn company to be something that was on the same level as he was. It was as if he was treating them as a rival.

That didn’t make sense. None at all!

And this didn’t make him happy at all! If he had been chastised by his father, then his other siblings would only gloat in his failure. They would think him weak.

But instead, he wasn’t punished. Everyone knew that the bridge in the Chasm was a powerful business asset that should be acquired at all costs. Failure to do so must be something that would shame their family to the high ends, making Yze angry.

But instead, he didn’t. He didn’t punish Levi.

This meant that the other heirs, Levi’s siblings, would think that he was getting advantageous favor from Yze! He was being adored!

They would then be jealous of him and want to get rid of him even more! Levi was completely worried that this was exactly what was going to happen!

Exile would have been a lot better! At least, he could have gone the same route as Theresa and eventually join the Rebornian Nation. But instead, Yze did nothing!

"Fuck..." Levi cursed, knowing the worsening situation around him.

...

...

Meanwhile, on the other side of the camp, a completely different situation was occurring.

A messenger from the Goldstone Conglomerate did come to Theresa to ask for information. But instead of receiving a letter, Theresa instead sent one of her own.

"You... you... you..." the messenger was at a loss for words once he understood what Theresa was trying to make him convey. "Do you have a death wish?! I can’t send that message! They’re not gonna accept that!"

Theresa shook her head. "I was not asking for their permission. I was warning them."

The messenger was worried simply for the fact that the negative emotions the Goldstone Conglomerate may feel from this letter would eventually transfer over to him.

’Don’t shoot the messenger,’ was only a myth! People die because they send bad news! Especially something as dire as this.

Theresa Goldstone was the owner of the biggest Real Estate subcompany in the Royal Continent. The chaos that her absence would create was something that would completely take the Goldstone Conglomerate off its kilter.

And any kind of uneasiness would feel like blood in the water. Especially in such turbulent times like these.

"Don’t worry. Your life is not in danger," said Theresa. "In fact, I have just handed you the best opportunity of your life."

The messenger, confused, just stood there in silence.

"By leaving my station in the Conglomerate chain, I would be handing down the real estate in my possession. And my siblings would pay an enormous amount of money to be the first one to receive this news. If you get what I’m saying..."

A few seconds later, the messenger’s eyes widened as he realized what she was trying to say.

"That’s... that’s..."

Whoever found out about Theresa’s decision could act first, taking over all of her territories in the Royal Continent before their other siblings. This would give them a tremendous amount of advantage, which would basically almost guarantee their victory in the succession.

"Thank you, Mistress Theresa. I shall send your message just as you have written it."

The messenger’s steps were excited. He could set up an auction on all the Goldstone heirs. This would make his payday rise skyhigh!
