Chapter 1346: Lazarus’ discovery
Chapter 1346: Lazarus’ discovery
It took Lazarus an entire hour before he finally finished with his calculations. "I GOT IT!" he exclaimed. "I GOT IT!"
Michael had been watching the entire time. And even though he had ChatJK6 try and decipher what it was the undead Mystic Master was writing, she could find a way to decode it.
It was some kind of language that only Lazarus seemed to understand. Probably something he concocted on his own. Something that had to do with his own Arcane Magic, which would explain why ChatJK6 couldn’t understand it. After all, Michael wasn’t a 9-star mage yet.
"What did you find out?"
Lazarus was in his own world, cheering by himself as if there was no one else in the room. The man was rolling on the floor in complete euphoria.
"What did you find out?" Michael asked again, using his own Nascent Influence subtly nudge the undead Mystic Master from his own stupor.
"Oh," Lazarus said, shaking his head. "Yeah! I found out a way in order to breed the Magica Monsters!"
Hearing this, Michael’s smile turned into a frown. He didn’t want to replicate the way that the Ersatz made those chimeric creatures, no matter how powerful they were. It was barbaric. Evil. He wouldn’t want anyone to replicate that.
"I’m afraid I can’t let you use human corpses for your own experiment, even if you are a Mystic Master."
Michael’s own golden aura shimmered, making Lazarus feel rebuffed. It surprised the Mystic Master, that a young kid like him could create an aura so powerful that even a 9-star wizard would be affected.
But Lazarus didn’t take it to heart. Instead, he explained the misunderstanding.
"It’s not what you think! What I meant to say is that I think I can create my own breed of Magical Monsters that won’t use any Artifice or human corpses to do it!" Lazarus explained.
Immediately, Michael’s face lightened. He didn’t want to fight a Mystic Master. But he would if he had to.
"How are you able to do it?" he asked, genuinely curious.
After all, he had also thought about creating his own breed of Magical Monsters. But not the one that was made from evil, like the Ersatz created.
However, it seemed that even ChatJK6 couldn’t solve that problem. In order for those chimeric creatures to grow as strong as they were, they needed the seed of a human soul. The Artifice was just there as a sort of empowering force that truly allowed the creatures to have a strength equivalent to a Nascent Spirit cultivator.
"Hehehe, it is through none other than the power of life!"
Hearing this, Michael titled his head. "Life?"
"Yes!" Lazarus exclaimed. "The Ersatz thought that death is what was needed in order to create something that defied the heavens. But they don’t know that the true answer is life! It’s the secret ingredient! Don’t you see?"
When the undead Mystic Master tried to explain everything deeper, Michael couldn’t understand him. He used very complex jargons and words that only a fellow undead wizard could understand.
You getting this, ChatJK6?
[... ask him if the key is the growth and unpredictability of human soul.]
"Is it the growth and... unpredictability of human soul?" he asked Lazarus.
Immediately, the goth man’s eyes widened with surprise and joy. "Yes! You understand completely! Finally, someone who I could converse with!"
And as soon as Lazarus confirmed, he heard ChatJK6 click her tongue inside his head.
[... it seems that I had taken a wrong turn in my analysis... damn...]
Michael couldn’t help but smile after hearing ChatJK6 curse for the first time in her life.
Looks like someone’s pride was hurt.
[Forgive me. I would have been able to make a proper analysis if my software had experienced another upgrade...]
...touche...
"So, what does this mean, Lazarus?"
"This means that I can try and recreate a new Magical Monster, one that does not need the corpse of a human nor does it need an Artifice!"
"You mean... you can create a creature as powerful as a Nascent Spirit cultivator with no downsides?"
Lazarus nodded. "Theoretically, yes. But in the future. The only bad thing about this is that these creatures must be bred from the ground up. They aren’t like the Magical Monsters, who have a growing period of only a few weeks and can become as strong as a Nascent Spirit cultivator immediately."
Michael was both amazed and terrified at Lazarus’ discovery.
This was one of the reasons why both Levi and Theresa wanted to conquer the demi-human kingdom. They wanted to find a way to have their own army of Nascent Spirit monsters under their own forces.
Of course, once they found out how they were truly made, they both made a pact to never even touch that topic. They wouldn’t even mention it to their reports back to their Conglomerates.
There were chances that information could leak. But at least, they would be able to mitigate it.
But this information... if people found out that Lazarus found out the key to creating those Magical Monsters without having to cross a taboo...
They would definitely want to have him under their alliance.
"Are you going to... share this information with others?"
"No... no... that’s way too soon. I haven’t worked out the possible problems with my formula."
"So, you’re not even sure it could work."
"It will work. I think."
Michael was feeling exasperated.
"How will you experiment?"
Lazarus wrinkled his nose. "Hmm... that is a problem. I’ll need a private space for me to be able to completely immerse myself in my experiments. Preferably one with a lot of resources ready for me to use."
Michael tapped his foot on the floor. "Maybe a DNA sequencing machine could help you."
The undead Mystic Master chuckled. "Hah. Yeah, if that existed, that would be a tremendous help in my studies. But that’s still in the realm of fiction."
Michael smiled. And he could also feel ChatJK6 smiling behind him, as if she was finally triumphant against Lazarus.
