Chapter 1349: Construction bridge

Chapter 1349: Construction bridge

Today, the construction of the Chasm Bridge was finally underway. Kong and the Engineer Red Mankeys went hard at work these past few days, making sure that their design was completely foolproof, and was something that could withstand even the greatest natural disasters in the world.

Of course, it wasn’t just a simple bridge. It was basically an entire town all on its own.

Michael had to have some security in place here every single second of every day. So, it was appropriate to have some of his soldiers permanently housed here to make sure that it was taken care of.

Then, he also had to put in the gates. No, he wasn’t planning on putting tolls to pass through these bridges. But he did need to make sure that they weren’t here to make chaos in the bridge nor in the chasm. He needed to make sure that they weren’t some people with evil intent.

So, for that to happen, he needed to screen people. Make sure that they had their papers in place if they were travelling merchants of some kind.

And the ones who would monitor that would be his own men, of course. So, they also had to have their own homes and estate here in the Chasm.

Of course, since it was a bridge, they were expected to have millions of people crossing here every single day. So, it only stood to reason for Michael to make a little bit of profit for all of this hard work that he’d been doing for free.

So, he was planning on installing a Truck Stop here. One where people could refuel their cars, their trucks, their automobiles, and at the same time, maybe have a bite to eat or just have a warm bed to sleep in at night.

And it didn’t even end there. He was planning to have some entertainment here as well, maybe some clubs, some theaters. Something to keep people visiting this place even if they didn’t need to cross the bridge.

Michael was planning a lot more establishments in this Truck Stop, but that was for the future. One thing was for sure though. And that was that this Bridge needed to accommodate a lot of traffic.

He looked at the blueprint that Kong gave him one more time.

An expansive bridge stood above the darkening Chasm. Grand, stately, and looking otherworldly. This was a bridge that looked like it was ripped straight out from a fantasy series Michael saw from his previous world.

There were about eight lanes in total. Four for those going to the Kings region, and four for those going away.

It was held up by these large triangular structures underneath the bridge itself, making it stable through the connection to the sides of the Chasm. It was a marvel of engineering and architecture. People of this world hadn’t even seen a construction project like this. They would think that it was held up by magic. But in truth, it was purely physical.

Michael didn’t want any kind of magical hijinks to somehow sabotage the safety of this bridge. He learned his lesson when magic disappeared.

The design of the bridge itself was a wonder of the world entirely. It was iconic. One could see it even hundreds of kilometers away, making it something immediately that people would recognize. That was on purpose. Michael learned from Earth. Making tourist attractions was a sure-fire way to get a lot of visitors in a certain location.

Around the bridge itself, Michael was planning on constructing an entire town. It would be built upon the skeletons of the Vanderbilt and the Goldstone camps, who would now be abandoned because their leaders no longer had any need for staying there permanently.

Of course, everything here would be Rebornian. The food, the inns, the entertainment. Everything would have the signature of Reborn. Meaning, every single money being spent here in the bridge would flow towards the nation’s pockets, thereby recuperating the exorbitant amount of resources they poured in creating this bridge.

Not to mention their journey in being able to create it in the first place. They truly needed to have something that would generate profits.

Theresa knocked on his door. "Michael? Can I talk with you?"

After sending her letter to the Goldstone Conglomerate, Theresa remained in the Nation of Reborn. They hadn’t sent any replies yet, which could be seen as good or bad.

But despite the anxious situation she put herself in, Theresa just focused on her job.

And as a newly minted Rebornian citizen, he had hired Theresa to help him set up the Chasm Bridge.

She had a lot of connections with local companies. Resources that the bridge would need.

"I heard you’re not putting a toll on the bridges," she said.

"That’s right."

"Can I ask why?"

That’s what she would have done. That’s what all Conglomerates would have done. That’s why they were so adamant in being the ones to create the bridge in the first place. It was an easy way to generate lots and lots of money.

"I’m thinking of the long term," Michael replied. "You’ll see."

Theresa was silent. She was no longer the leader she was once before. So, she knew she had no hand in Michael’s decision. But she just couldn’t help but doubt it.

"Do you have any allies? Previous companies that you were friends with? I need people that we can trust."

Theresa furrowed her brows. "I know some companies. They’re the ones that were with me in the Coalition. Why?"

"I’m going to enlist their help in the Bridge."

"But... but they’re not an Upper Echelon company."

Michael smiled. "Exactly."

"What exactly do you want their help with?"

"I’m looking for companies who could create some business in the Bridge. For a price, of course."

Theresa furrowed her brow as she began to think about Michael’s words. "You’re... you’re selling real estate in the Bridge?"

Then, her eyes widened. "You’re trying to lure in the big fish!" she realized.
