Chapter 1355: Mystic Masters

Chapter 1355: Mystic Masters

Michael, of course, immediately went and asked Seberus if he could accompany him to the Guild of Arcana. The Mystic Master was more than happy to show off their wizardry estate.

"You know, if you had just accepted becoming my student, then you would have already been in the Guild of Arcana right now. You might even be a Mystic Master."

Even if that were the case, Michael wouldn’t exchange that possibility for his current reality. Now, he was happy with what he’d got.

"Do you think I’d be able to get an exception on the secret library if I told them that I could still wield magic?"

His question made Seberus stop and reconsider. "Hmmm... what a complicated question."

Now, of course, in an ideal world, the wizards of the Guild of Arcana would celebrate the momentous discovery of an anomaly like Michael. If he could still wield magic, then there was a chance that they could also find a way to bring back their ability to wield the mystic arts.

However, Seberus knew that the political quagmire of the Guild was a very hard place to traverse safely.

"Well, let’s just say this. Why haven’t you told the Conglomerates about your Supreme Talent?"

If he told them that nugget of truth, then he would basically be telling the entire world of his own true power. On the one side, it would be a tremendous boon to his own company.

People would be more willing to make alliances with him. After all, the appearance of a Supreme Talent indicated that there would be a Supreme Being along the likes of the Ocean King and the Draconian Queen arriving in the Royal Continent. This would be an advantage to the entire human race.

However, Michael knew that there would be people who wouldn’t want someone to rule over them like a tyrant.

They would heavily oppose him, even if he had no intention of ever ruling the entire human species. The fact that he had a Supreme Talent at all would paint a huge target on his back. And he wouldn’t want that. He already had a lot of heat from the inventions of the Reborn company.

"I think I understand what you’re trying to say."

"The Guild of Arcana wishes to preserve the knowledge and sanctity of magic in the world. There is no question in that. Every single wizard there will have that kind of philosophy.

However, the path to achieve that would be different individually. Some think that the path to preserve magic is to simply let it be public knowledge to everyone in the world. While some believe that the only way to save magic is to keep it from the hands of those unworthy, meaning the mortals.

Of course, both philosophies have their own merits. But unfortunately, any kind of path taken to the extreme would be a bad thing for everyone. And Mystic Masters tend to veer on the extreme side of things when it came to magic."

In short, they could think Michael was the savior or the death of magic itself. He could act as the saving grace, the only last bastion of the Mystic Arts. or they could think that he was a despot, one that was hoarding all the magic in the world and therefore his destruction would bring forth magic back to the world.

This was a very dangerous thought. One Michael hadn’t thought about.

Perhaps I shouldn’t just wander to the Guild of Arcana without proper planning.

At the very least, he should know what he was getting into. Who were his friends? Who could he trust? Who did he need to keep an eye on?

According to Seberus, there were eight Mystic Masters in the Guild of Arcana. They were the figures that led the entire organization equally. Each of their decisions must be decided upon by each and every single member, otherwise, no action would pass.

Michael met three Mystic Masters. Seberus, the Mystic Master of Fire. Lazarus, the Mystic Master of Death. And Rivet, the Mystic Master of Metal.

Now, he had a good relationship with all three. In fact, one might even say that they were allies that he could depend upon once the going gets tough.

He had to worry about the other five.

Michael definitely wanted to learn more about them if he were to enter the Guild of Arcana. Seberus told him the basics, but nothing else.

"You should at least tell me who I should befriend, or who I should avoid," he said to Seberus.

"Now, now, Michael. You have to form an opinion of them all on yourself. I can’t let you be influenced by my own biased opinion of them. That is not the scientific way."

Michael sighed. Sometimes, Seberus was way too level-headed for his liking.

"You tell me to be careful of them. Now, you tell me to meet them and form an opinion about them myself. Which is it?"

Seberus shrugged. "Well, that is an important aspect of becoming an 9-star wizard, Michael. You cannot follow the path of others. You must forge one for yourself. Otherwise, you’ll just be bumping your head on other people’s ceilings."

That was true. Michael hated it when Seberus was true.

"Well, lucky for you, I ought to think that you will eventually be able to meet the other Mystic Masters soon enough. The Chasm bridge truly is something that will be make waves throughout the entire Royal Continent..."

Michael furrowed his brows. "What did that mean?"

It was at this point that Michael felt two urgent announcements from his head. It wasn’t long before two shadows formed in front of him, eventually ascending to become his Orc Chieftains.

"BU TO TO! Supreme Leader. We have some news for you."

"RAH TA TA! It is about the Chasm bridge, sire."

Michael turned towards Seberus, but the old man was already gone. The only thing that was left of him was wisps of ember flying off like a firework spark.
