Chapter 1409: Visiting Rivet
Chapter 1409: Visiting Rivet
Michael was very excited about Lazarus’ research. And it seemed that the Mystic Master was even more so than him.
When Michael asked him about his signature medallion, Lazarus didn’t even hesitate before he conjured a black magic circle and imprinted it on a piece of wood. He didn’t even ask Michael why he wanted this signature. He was so happy about finally having the opportunity to study the Zephrys that he was willing to give Michael the signature no matter the reason.
Two down, two more to go.
Now, he just needed Seberus’ signature and Rivet’s signature. Both of which were also good friends of Reborn. Seberus more so.
Rivet, the Mystic Master of metal, had a good relationship with Michael because of the automobiles. She had studied it back in New Sparta and was more than overjoyed to see the mechanical ideas and science that went into creating those vehicles.
I guess I need to visit New Sparta.
It’s been a long time since he’d visited New Sparta. As soon as he teleported himself atop the City, he immediately saw the difference.
New Sparta was now an island. A very big island.
It was at the very middle where the Chasm bisected the very land of the Royal Continent. From inside New Sparta itself, it didn’t look like they were separated from the rest of the continent. But seeing it from up above, it was very prominent.
It was as if a large god had come down and tried to bite off New Sparta and its neighboring flat lands, but failed and had instead left a giant depression encircling the entirety in an oblong shape.
Right now, the people inhabiting New Sparta were cut off from the rest of the world. The only way that they could travel to the rest of the continent was if they flew, or they travelled all the way to the ends of the ’bite’ and simply walked through the narrow part of the Chasm.
Michael was working on the bridges at the moment. Once that was done, the demi-humans and the Beastfolks inhabiting New Sparta would finally be able to explore the rest of the Royal Continent.
He looked down at the City and saw that things had changed. A lot.
Ever since the attack happened, it seemed that the Beastfolks were a lot more guarded about their own safety. He saw soldiers patrolling the streets, the outside, all along the walls, and even through the skies. The wyverns would have seen Michael if he hadn’t made himself invisible.
The only evidence of the attack left were the monuments that were erected in order to honor those who died during the attack.
Monoliths were placed here and there, each location having been hit by tragedy the hardest.
Michael looked down and eventually saw that the Colosseum was once again packed to the brim with a lot of people.
But instead of a fight, there was only one single person in the middle.
And it was none other than the Mystic Master of Metal, Rivet.
It seemed that she had made her lectures as a regular thing. Beside her was an automobile that had been taken apart by its individual pieces. Engines, wheels, and gearboxes were displayed around in an organized manner.
And amongst all of these metallic parts, there was something that was very eye-catching that was perched right next to Rivet’s table.
It was none other than the take-out box for McTony’s chicken. The overpowering smell of spice had completely driven away the smell of grease from the automobile. And instead, it had been replaced by an aroma that made people’s stomachs grumble into hunger.
Of course, their business with McTony didn’t stop despite the tragedy. In fact, it had only grown even more! The delivery aspect of their business was very much appreciated, especially since people here couldn’t travel outside of the chasm.
Rivet was munching on a piece of chicken as she explained the mechanics of how a gearbox worked to the rest of the people in the colosseum.
Most of them were young and eager Beastfolks and demi-humans, who were undergoing their studies as normal students.
As Michael slowly lowered himself down, Rivet’s focus was torn away as she looked up at him.
Then, she waved at him.
"Okay, class. For tomorrow, I would like you to create a simple toy vehicle with four wheels! Make sure that they can be pushed like a real automobile..."
Then, with those parting words, Rivet then walked back down into the stairs and disappeared into the tunnels.
A few seconds later, she appeared hovering right next to Michael.
"Ah! Michael, to what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Looks like teaching is going well," he said to her.
"It is, it is. And you better thank me for it. After all, there are a lot of Beastfolks who don’t know how an automobile works, therefore, they are afraid of using it.
But after I explained it to them, I was able to dispel the thought that the cars are some kind of evil entity. And now, they are warming up to the thought of owning those cars and using them to travel."
Michael nodded. Castelle did inform him that the sales of automobiles were increasing in New Sparta, which was very counterintuitive as people in this city couldn’t travel anywhere outside the Chasm.
But it seemed that Rivet was the one responsible for it.
"Thanks," he told her.
"If you want to thank me, then you can help me understand how your phone works. I’ve been tinkering with it for a while now, but I just can’t understand how it can communicate with the other phones despite distances."
Michael gave her an awkward smile. "To be honest, I also don’t know how it works properly. The principle of the internet is easy to create. But for this phone, I am using a different kind of technology that allows communication despite the distances."
"Can you tell me what that technology is?"
