Chapter 1456: Disaster
Chapter 1456: Disaster
The 10 Nascent Spirit Ersatz Assassins slinked back to the shadows.
These were the people he had salvaged from the depths of hell and darkness.
After all, the Reborn company was the subject of multiple attacks from the Ersatz company. There were many conspiracies and terrorist attacks that had been planned against them.
The only reason that this sort of information wasn’t readily available to the public was because Fudge was solving them before they even happened.
With Fudge’s reformed Ersatz assassins, he was able to infiltrate their forces and set up an information network that focused on Reborn.
If there ever was an attack on Reborn, Fudge would be the first to know.
Of course, at first, they sent nothing but small fries. Only Body Formation cultivators. Fudge dealt with them easily without the help from his own secret organization.
But as each and every mission became foiled, they began sending more and more powerful assassins towards Reborn.
It came to a point when they sent their first Nascent Spirit assassin.
Of course, Fudge could have informed Michael. He could have even informed the Shadow Orcs.
But instead, he kept it to himself.
And in the end, it ended up being the right play. Fudge awakened into a Nascent Spirit cultivator at that point, allowing him to be able to defeat the Nascent Spirit Ersatz assassin.
Using his very convincing words, Fudge was able to convert this assassin to becoming a believer of the Iron Maiden.
So, when the second Nascent Spirit Ersatz assassin came, it became much easier to spread his proselytization.
Time passed, and by the time he knew it, Fudge had gathered ten Nascent Spirit Ersatz assassins.
But of course, he knew that these people were not well-accepted in society as of yet. Their hearts were still cold like a zombie. Fudge had yet to find a way to make them look like human.
So, he kept these Nascent Spirit assassins as his trump card. They remained unknown even to the top officers of Reborn. Not even Michael nor the Shadow Orcs nor the Dragonborns knew about them.
And it ended up paying off. Without them, Fudge wouldn’t have been able to defeat the 9th and 8th ranked generals all the while protecting the people of Batchrock Town from the Worcester invasion.
"Hehehe, maybe it’s time to tell Master. With this contribution to Reborn, you guys will surely be granted citizenship," he said to the ten shadows following him from behind.
"Maybe we should go and help the others..."
It was at this point that he felt something in the air. A change. A sudden drop in temperature and pressure.
And it was at this point that even Fudge’s lackadaisical attitude dropped and he became serious.
Fudge turned towards the horizon and saw a storm brewing.
"Shit...," he cursed out loud. "You ten come with me. We’re going to stop a disaster."
...
...
...
Fudge immediately jumped through the trees, travelling hundreds of kilometers within just a few seconds. And eventually, he had arrived back in the backwoods part of the Kings region.
Here, there were a sparse few towns and villages that had become part of the Nation of Reborn.
This place should have been the quietest part of the war. The only Nascent Spirit general being sent here was their 10th ranked general. And their soldiers were only a hundred thousand members strong as well.
But now, a storm ravaged through the entire territory.
A large cloud loomed over the skies. Dark completely, with lightning and hail coming down and pelting the helpless ground down below.
Fire erupted from the soil, as if a hidden volcano was making its entrance for the first time in a million years. Water continued to rise, eventually causing flash floods all over the farms and the rivers, causing lots of landslides all over.
Fudge looked at all of this and saw one person up in the skies.
Sheina. Chaos erupted from her chest. Red, bubbling, power like that of the sun’s destructive solar rays.
Meanwhile, below her was the 10th ranked general. He was already defeated long before Fudge arrived. In fact, the entire hundred thousand-strong army of the Worcester camp had been wiped out completely.
They could not stop the forces of mother nature.
No one could stop Umisu. Yet, she still hovered high up in the air, continuing to control the weather as if she was the incarnation of the apocalypse herself.
Umisu had already transcended into the Nascent Spirit realm all by herself. Fudge knew that if this continued, she would eventually destroy the Rebornian territory and everything around it, including herself.
He had to stop it.
He immediately moved towards her, never minding the hail and the fire and the lightning that pelted him along the way.
Violet blood seeped from his body. But he continued to move towards Umisu until he landed in her hands.
He hugged her tightly.
And a few seconds later, clarity began to return to Umisu’s eyes. She shook her head slightly, before she looked down at Fudge.
She was confused for a second, before she remembered what had happened.
"Fudge... he’s... he’s..."
Fudge looked up at her. "I know, Miss Umisu. But please. Have faith."
His words seemed to have allowed Umisu to regain control of her own powers. Using the training she learned with the Brownblood Werewolves, Umisu closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
Soon, the chaotic power brewing in her heart turned subsided.
The clouds began to lose their density. The skies soon returned into a calm blue tinge.
It wasn’t long before the territory remained silent as it was before. However, the damage had been done.
"Hehehe, don’t worry. Our Master will fix everything!" Fudge assured Umisu.
She looked at the mischievous violet slime and hugged him tightly again.
...
...
...
Meanwhile, back in the isolated Dimension...
"Your territory must be destroyed by now," said Worcester. "My generals will have torn through your company asunder!"
But Michael wasn’t looking at him. Instead, his attention was elsewhere.
