Chapter 1466: News about Lucy
"Sir Lucy! It’s an emergency!" said the boy, holding a scroll.
"What is it, scribe?"
The boy then handed him a new scroll. And this time, as Lucy began to read more and more of it, his face began to contort and twist as the time passed. It wasn’t long before his entire face was colored red with embarrassment, with smoke almost coming out of his ears.

...
All over the Rebornian Territory, there was a new viral video being played around.
The streets were filled with citizens looking at their phones, discussing amongst each other. Cafes were filled with conversations. Dinner tables overflowed with discussions.
Even the online forums of the Rebornian Social Media app were being bombarded with messages and posts and conversations.
The video was like this:
Worcester stood in a vast field of dark blue color. His face was becoming more and more angry as the video started.
"Your Reborn company will fall under my hands," Worcester shouted to the camera, which seemed to be from the perspective of Michael.
"I will destroy it, even if I have to do it all for myself. That bastard Lucy. He betrayed me. He has discarded our alliance and fed me to the sharks as soon as he thought he was getting busted!
Hah! I should have known never to trust those gold geezers at the Guild of Arcana. Now that magic is gone, they have lost the power they held over the citizens of this world. And now, they’re just trying to grasp at it any way they can, like bitter old fools!"
Then, the video ended. The whole thing couldn’t be more than thirty seconds at most. But because of that, it has been replayed millions upon millions of times since it had last been posted an hour ago.
Of course, there was some angry reception from the Rebornian citizens. They were immediately angry that the Guild of Arcana had completely betrayed them, and almost destroyed their whole company!
There were some posts slandering Lucy in the forums, telling him that he was a two-faced betrayer. Some would even go as far as bash his facial features, saying that he wasn’t even that handsome anyway.
But of course, since this was posted on the Rebornian internet, this wasn’t just seen by the Rebornians.
It was seen by anyone who had a phone in their hands.
And who had just obtained those phones a few days ago? It was none other than the royals of the Elite Society.
The dukes and the barons and the viscounts of Elite Society, all of whom had great power and influence within the Royal Continent itself, were now realizing the truth of the situation.
Lucy was one of the masterminds of the whole racing circuit incident. He had planned those terrorist attacks with Worcester, and they both planned it to be something that the Ersatz Organization had done.
This was very scandalous and immediately reached the eyes and ears of everyone.
After all, immediately after the video got viral, traditional newspapers got ahold of the story and began printing them as well.
{Extra! Extra! Benevolent Mystic Master, sinister after all?}
And in the parts of the Royal Continent where there were no phones, these newspapers were the only ones that were disseminating this information to the masses.
And about four hours after the initial posting of the video, Lucy and the rest of the Guild of Arcana had finally realized this fact.
The Guild of Arcana had a strict ’no Rebornian technology policy’. They weren’t allowed to use automobiles, and they especially weren’t allowed to use phones. Heck, even chess was being outlawed in this place.
Because of that, for the first few hours of the story breaking out, they were truly isolated—just like they wanted.
It wasn’t until the newspaper headlines started getting spread did it finally reach the eyes and ears of the scribes and informants of the Guild of Arcana.
And by that point, it had already been too late.
If they had known about it beforehand, if they had access to a phone, they could have easily prevented this story from getting out. They could have used their connections to stop the newspaper outlets from spreading such information. And instead, they could print out a completely different story that would paint Reborn as evil.
But in the end, they were way too late. The story had spread far too much.
And now, the image that Lucy had carefully built up, was now shattered.
He was being called a duplicitous bastard and other such unseemly names. People used to worship him, now, they were just gossiping about him and his betrayal.
He had preached about saving people with the Light, and yet in the end, he turned to the dark side and colluded with Worcester, a war criminal.
It was at this moment that the entire Guild of Arcana was blast with a bright white light from the heavens as Lucy unleashed all of his anger in one shout.
"ARGHHHH!"
Down below in their dungeons, Lucy panted with bated breaths as he slammed the ground with his fists. His entire face was twisted with anger. His face was red with humiliation.
The other Mystic Masters beside him were very perturbed, but not as distraught as Lucy.
"Those damned newspaper outlets. If it was before, they wouldn’t have dared publish such news without asking us first!"
"Our influence has truly been lost. And now, I fear that it is only getting farther and farther away from us."
"We have truly underestimated this Reborn leader of theirs. Our best course of action is to disappear. Let this news die down."
It was at this moment that Lucy looked up at the Mystic Masters with manic in his eyes. "Disappear? Oh no no no no. That is not what we are going to do. My reputation is on the line here!"
The Mystic Masters shook their heads. "With things like these, it is best to let them pass. Soon, the people will forget it ever happened."
"BUT I WON’T!" Lucy shouted.
