Reborn As The Minor Villain In A Romance Fantasy Novel

Chapter 246: Husband’s Power

Chapter 246: Husband’s Power

"I know you sent a text on how you were going to jump on me the moment you saw me..." Lucius said, his voice was a bit strained. "But I didn’t take it literally."

Even though he was growing really fast, he could not even sit up properly as the woman hugged him with her super strength.

Her arms were like steel bands wrapped around his torso, squeezing the air from his lungs.

’If I was a regular human... I would have been crushed under the force of her arms already,’ he thought, grimacing slightly.

He used space to separate them, creating a gentle but firm barrier between their bodies.

Selene’s eyes widened as space pushed her back, the invisible force prying her arms loose despite her S-rank strength.

She finally chose to stand properly and straightened her shirt a bit, looking somewhat sheepish.

"I can’t believe that after all these years, I have finally found you." She said, her voice was filled with emotion.

Lucius stood up as well, brushing off his clothes. Somehow all the women he met were pretty straightforward like this.

"You were searching for me for years...?" Lucius asked as he stood up fully.

Then his eyes caught on something unusual. A small glowing figure floating next to Selene, barely the size of his palm.

"Is that a fairy or something?"

This time it was Pooch’s turn to be surprised.

The pixie’s tiny eyes went wide, and her wings stopped beating for a moment, causing her to drop a few inches before recovering.

"He can really see me..."

Her voice was high-pitched and filled with wonder, like wind chimes in a breeze.

"Why wouldn’t I be able to see you?" Lucius asked, genuinely confused. "Are you meant to be invisible or somethin—"

The pixie shot forward at him, moving so fast she was just a streak of silver light.

She slammed into the barrier of Infinity he had erected around himself for protection, bouncing off with a soft thunk that would have been comical if not for the desperation in her movements.

"Please let me touch a strand of your hair... Honored one." Pooch said, her tiny hands pressed against the invisible barrier like a child against a window.

Her voice cracked slightly. "Just a single strand of your divine hair would do for me greatly... I feel the need to pay my respects to you."

All in all, Selene had been the only one able to see her ever since she was born from Selene’s awakening.

It was pretty harsh to exist in a world where nobody thought you existed, especially when you wanted to experience things, touch things, and be acknowledged.

But after all that time, she had finally found someone else that could actually see her.

It made her really excited... Overwhelmingly so.

"Alright, Pooch. Calm down." Selene said gently, like a mother soothing an overexcited child.

Just then the Infinity barrier faded and Pooch shot through the air, grabbing onto Lucius’s hair and balancing on top of his head.

Her tiny weight was barely noticeable, like having a butterfly land on you.

There was a sudden feeling that flooded Pooch’s body, a warmth that spread from where she touched his hair down to her very core.

Then it vanished, leaving her feeling somehow... fuller.

However, the girls’ eyes widened, and even Amber’s carefully maintained composure cracked.

They were staring at Pooch with expressions of shock.

"Ah, Miss Moon Goddess... is that perhaps your familiar?" Amber asked, her voice careful and measured.

Selene turned back at her, genuine surprise crossing her features.

"You can see Pooch?"

All the girls nodded, their gazes tracking the pixie’s movements.

Emilia was squinting at her, Elara’s mouth was slightly open, Luna was analyzing her with clinical interest, and Vanessa just looked confused.

Pooch let go of Lucius’s hair and floated in front of them, moving from person to person like she was testing whether this was real.

She stopped specifically in front of Villy, hovering at eye level.

Villy reached out slowly and touched the pixie’s head with one finger, making Pooch quiver a bit from the contact.

"I can’t believe it..." Selene breathed, her hand coming up to cover her mouth.

As much as she wanted to jump on Lucius once more for fixing Pooch’s visibility issue, she didn’t want to inconvenience him anymore.

The man had just arrived and she’d already tackled him to the ground.

Instead, she curtseyed to the other girls, the gesture elegant and practiced.

"My name is Selene Weissnacht and I am an S-rank known as the Moon Goddess as well as Lucius’s wife, though we just met each other." She said, her voice carrying across the runway with perfect clarity. "I hope I can get along with my sister wives very well."

Lucius placed a hand on his forehead, feeling a headache building.

He still didn’t get what was happening at all. Wife? Sister wives? They’d literally just met in person for the first time.

Amber took the opportunity to step away from the other girls, putting distance between herself and the increasingly bizarre situation.

She didn’t want to be associated with Lucius any more than she had to. All she was here for was her resources at the end of the day, not to get caught up in whatever supernatural romance drama this was turning into.

"What do you mean by sister wife?" Vanessa asked, her tone suspicious.

This time Pooch was the one to answer, clearly happy to finally have an audience that could hear her.

"Mama got a premonition..." Pooch said immediately while flying a bit higher and spreading her pixie wings wide, like she was preparing to give a grand speech.

The wings caught the light, shimmering with opalescent colors.

"When she first awakened, she saw a glimpse of a vision shown to her by the moon of a man meant to be her fated one."

"It’s just like in the movies..." Villy could barely contain herself as she jumped on her feet, her eyes shining with excitement.

She really liked these fated lovers movies. The romantic destiny, the prophetic visions, the instant connection. This was like watching her favorite genre come to life.

"So she has been scouring the whole world for this man with black hair... and could complement her affinity properly." Pooch continued, flying in a slow circle above their heads. "However, a man like that simply did not exist and we gave up."

She paused for dramatic effect.

"However, with the Honored one just being around, my lady has risen to higher realms of power."

Amber’s eye twitched. ’They have to be lying or something...’

She was already a powerful S-rank, one of the strongest in the world. Are they trying to say that she’s a national rank now? That she’d broken through the ceiling already?

’I refuse to believe it!’

"Just by being around Lucius... you feel stronger?" Luna was the one puzzled about this now, her analytical mind trying to work out the mechanics.

She stepped closer, studying both Selene and Lucius with scientific interest. "Could you demonstrate an example?"

Just then, Selene’s armband glowed with urgent light, and a report came in. Her expression shifted from romantic to professional in an instant.

[My goddess... on the Light Pyre, a B-rank Rogue is currently attacking citizens. It’s a pervert that’s forcing them to strip their clothes down... Women are losing their bras and panties to this fiend! Should we engage?]

Selene’s expression darkened, her blue eyes going cold.

"No... let me handle it." She said, her voice carrying an edge that hadn’t been there before.

She turned off the band before turning to Lucius, and despite the serious situation, there was excitement dancing in her eyes.

"Shall we test the theory, my fated one?"

"You’re an S-rank, can’t you handle it yourself...?" Lucius asked with a confused expression.

This was vacation and he really didn’t want to be stressed even more than he had to. The whole point of coming here was to relax, not get dragged into hero work.

"Sigh... so uptight." She replied as her head drooped, looking almost dejected.

Then she looked up at him with her pearly blue eyes, and there was something pleading in them.

"Please lend me some of your space so I can show you my capabilities from over here... the Pyre is on the other side of the city and I will snipe the B-rank from here."

That made Amber’s eyes widen. ’All the way from here... to there?’

She had been in the city on multiple occasions and to get to the Pyre was about a two or so hour drive when there was no traffic.

It was easily more than that when there was traffic, so she wondered how the woman was going to pull it off.

The distance had to be at least fifty kilometers, maybe more.

Sure she was S-rank, but she was more well-versed in close combat. Attempting to do a long-range strike exactly at a moving target was nothing other than either overconfidence or stupidity.

’There’s no way she can make that shot,’ Amber thought, crossing her arms.

Lucius gave in and shared some space over to her, expecting nothing extraordinary. He extended his hand and a ripple of spatial energy flowed from him to Selene.

However, the moment it touched her, Selene’s body began to glow.

Her eyes widened, pupils dilating as veins began to form on the skin around her eyes, spreading outward like silver spider webs. She smiled, and it was radiant.

"Right... I will use my husband’s power." She pointed in a certain direction, her arm perfectly steady.

With the space she had been given, she expanded it all over the city in seconds.

The sensation was overwhelming and intoxicating. She could feel everything, see everything within the spatial field then she focused on the Pyre, narrowing her perception to that one location.

She could feel people running away, their panicked movements creating ripples in the space.

Then a rogue that was currently standing above a woman, his malicious intent practically radiating through the spatial connection. She could feel the B-rank mana radiating off him.

Then she raised her fingers in that direction, taking aim with perfect certainty.

"Moon Blast..." She let out, her voice carrying an edge of finality.

A burst of power shot out of her fingers, combining the power of space and the moon together.

The beam was pure silver, crackling with spatial distortions and gravitational force. It shot across the city, moving at speeds high enough to shatter glass windows in its wake, leaving a trail of broken reflections.

The beam reached the Pyre in less than a second.

Just as the assaulting Awakened was about to pounce on the woman he had pinned down, the beam tore through the air and blasted through his head immediately.

There was no time for him to react and no chance to dodge. One moment he existed, the next his head was simply gone.

The beam shot past him and collided with the water beyond, punching through the surface.

There was a massive burst as water shot upward, creating a geyser that climbed fifty feet into the air before raining back down.

The sound of the impact echoed across the harbor.

Back at the landing spot, Selene blew on her fingers as the veins surrounding her eyes receded, fading back into her skin.

"See... done." She said and looked over to Lucius with a satisfied smile.

He looked surprised, genuinely taken aback. The girls were confused until Selene’s band turned on again, crackling with an excited voice.

[My Lady... was that you? You completely blasted the head off that guy, from such a far distance too... Were you nearby? Aren’t you supposed to be meeting your online boyfriend tod—]

"Not another word, Felicia." Selene said as a blush was creeping up her neck.

She turned off the band and looked at Lucius, her expression shifting to something almost childlike.

"Praise me..."

"Eh?"

"I did a good job with the space that you gave me, so you should praise me." She said, her voice earnestly cute.

"How?"

"By patting my head." She said while lowering her head a bit, bending down slightly to make it easier for him. "I would love it if you gave me headpats."

Lucius slowly raised his hand, feeling awkward about the whole thing. His palm landed on her soft silver hair and he patted her head gently, once, twice, three times.

She made a sound that might have been a contented sigh making her eyes close and then a blush spread across her cheeks.

"Alright alright... Let’s all go to where you guys will be staying for the vacation." She said while taking Lucius’s hand in hers, interlacing their fingers.

Her hand was warm, and her grip was firm.

"I own a bunch of five-star hotels so I decided to use one completely for us!"

"Weren’t there people inside?" Lucius asked, concerned.

Kicking out paying customers seemed excessive.

"I only drove out the people on the top floors... and had my girls thoroughly clean everywhere in preparation for your arrival." She said happily as she clapped her free hand.

A sleek black limousine pulled up immediately, as if it had been waiting for that exact signal. The driver stepped out and opened the door.

"They’re also in your name, hubby~" She added, her voice taking on a sing-song quality. "What’s mine is yours~"

She looked at his face and saw Lucius’s expression shift. He was ecstatic about the fact that she was making passive income, his eyes lighting up with interest.

’Finally, someone who understands the value of assets.’ he thought.

"Hehehehehe~ I like the sound of that." He said, grinning as they all walked toward the limousine.

Suddenly they had to turn around. Something was coming from where they had been flying from, which meant it was coming from the Aurelia country.

A dark object streaking through the sky, moving with clear hostile intent.

He looked at the emblem on it as it got closer and remembered that Luna’s brother was still trying to assassinate him.

The fool had stopped doing it for so long that he had forgot about it... and by that emblem, he was probably the one that had sent this over too, thinking a long-range attack during the landing would catch him off guard.

’Pathetic,’ Lucius thought.

He crumpled it with space, compressing the projectile into a ball no larger than a marble.

The spatial pressure crushed whatever mechanism or magic had been powering it. Then he let it fall into the water with a distant splash.

They continued walking forward like nothing had happened.

"Let’s get this vacation started!" Lucius called out, and the girls cheered in response.
