Chapter 1974: Chapter 1968: Going to the Nangongs
"Alright, hopefully she won’t be out for too long." An Hao said uncertainly, feeling an ominous premonition. This situation seemed complicated.
"I hope so too." Qin Xue wished that Nangong Beiying was just out for a breather or on a business trip.
"Ladies, please come in. My master has invited you." The guard didn’t expect that just by mentioning Qin Xue as a friend of their young lady, his master would agree to see her.
It seems the master, who loves his daughter dearly, is baffling to ordinary logic. He decided to stay content as a gate guard. The world of the wealthy was beyond his understanding.
"Thank you." Qin Xue knew that hearing her name would prompt Nangong Kunpeng to meet with her. She just didn’t expect that he’d let her in without any trouble. She wondered if this would alert those lurking in the shadows.
"No need to thank me." The guard waved his hand.
"Qin Xue, have you been here before? You seem quite familiar with this place." An Hao observed as Qin Xue headed straight for their living room.
"A few times." Qin Xue had visited to see Nangong Beiying, and once to see Nangong Kunpeng. She hadn’t seen the grand layout of the Nangong family, but the living room was no issue for her.
"No wonder." An Hao nodded in understanding. She thought it was unlikely for someone unfamiliar to navigate so easily.
"Greetings, Mr. Nangong." Qin Xue addressed Nangong Kunpeng as he entered, preemptively greeting him lest he accidentally revealed something later.
"Hello, Ms. Qin. I heard you came to see my daughter. I’m really sorry, she’s not home due to some personal matters. Your visit has been in vain." Nangong Kunpeng understood Qin Xue’s cue and played along.
"Can I know where she went and for how long?" Qin Xue looked steadily at Nangong Kunpeng.
"It’s her mother’s death anniversary. She went to visit her. She hasn’t mentioned when she’ll be back," Nangong Kunpeng recalled what his daughter told him the night before last.
She mentioned that it’s her mother’s death anniversary and that she seldom spent time with her mother while growing up. She wanted to spend some time with her and assured that everything at home was arranged. She would be informed if something happened, but she didn’t want to disclose her destination. She wanted to uncover those hidden in the shadows.
Initially, Nangong Kunpeng was reluctant, but his daughter stated that now Jing Xin already had two kids. If this matter wasn’t resolved, they’d never be able to recognize him. Those two kids wouldn’t be able to acknowledge their roots in the Nangong family. Was that the outcome he desired?
His son wasn’t by his side since childhood. After finally knowing he wasn’t dead and had settled down, he surely didn’t want him wandering outside forever. In the end, his daughter persuaded him.
He had mentioned that if any major issue arose in the company, he’d intervene and would not let his daughter’s efforts over the past year go to waste.
The next day, his daughter left with Rain. He initially worried about the company affairs and went to check on the preparations to take over. But upon arrival, he found out she’d entrusted everything to Feng and several others he didn’t know. How she managed to find such capable people was beyond him. He didn’t need to intervene as everything was arranged by his daughter.
Thus, Nangong Kunpeng followed his daughter’s lead. Over the past year, he realized his daughter was capable, handling things orderly. With the arrangements set, no intervention was needed, allowing him to enjoy peace.
