“To be completely honest with you… I am worried.” Tang Qin Hao admitted. “But I can’t just leave my professional obligations unfinished. My keynote presentation, the panel discussion, and the global conference itself are all responsibilities I formally accepted before flying out here. If I vanish without completing them, it will create immense, unnecessary chaos for the organisers and colleagues.”

Yu Qi looked at him quietly, a fond but resigned expression crossing her hidden features. She knew this was exactly the kind of unyielding, duty-bound person Tang Qin Hao was. Even after surviving a terrifying, high-stakes kidnapping, the very first thing occupying his brilliant mind was still his professional responsibility to the medical community.

Long Hui glanced sideways at Yu Qi, silently gauging her reaction, before looking back at the stubborn surgeon. For several long, tense seconds, nobody spoke a word. Finally, Yu Qi broke the silence with a soft sigh.

“Alright.” Yu Qi nodded, giving her approval. “You can go back to the conference hall.”

“Really?” Tang Qin Hao blinked in slight surprise, not expecting her to give in so easily.

“Yes. However, you must be infinitely more careful this time. Do not follow unknown staff members so easily, especially if they suddenly claim a critical patient desperately needs your help.” Yu Qi answered calmly, her tone suddenly turning razor-sharp with warning.

Tang Qin Hao looked at her thoughtfully, his analytical mind picking up on the details. The fact that she knew the exact cover story used to lure him out made it perfectly obvious that she had already thoroughly interrogated his captors. He smiled bitterly, a touch of self-deprecation in his eyes.

Without waiting for them to break protocol or reveal their identities, he turned around and left the Presidential Suite, his stride confident once more. Tang Qin Hao headed straight down the carpeted hallway toward his assistant’s room. Fortunately, he still had his original room key card safely tucked away, and his assistant’s room happened to be situated right next door to his own. He knocked firmly on the door.

A few tense seconds later, the door suddenly swung open with violent haste. The exact millisecond, his panicked assistant saw Tang Qin Hao standing right there, alive, completely unharmed, and perfectly composed. His eyes widened to the size of saucers in absolute, jaw-dropping disbelief.

“Dr… Dr Tang Qin Hao!” The assistant exploded, his voice cracking with emotion. The very next second, the young man nearly dropped to his knees on the carpet in sheer, unadulterated relief. “Doctor Tang Qin Hao… You are back! You are actually back!”

“Hmm,” Tang Qin Hao nodded calmly, stepping past him. “Let’s go inside first. I will explain the situation.”

“Yes… Yes… Of course! Please come in!” The assistant hurriedly stepped aside to clear the way before slamming the door shut and locking it behind them.

He described being forcefully led down into the dim basement parking lot, surrounded by heavily armed operatives, threatened at gunpoint, injected with an unknown chemical sedative, and eventually waking up imprisoned inside a locked concrete basement room.
