Chapter 843’s Return
Chapter 843: 843’s Return
When their group boarded the airplane, everyone had smiles on their faces.
"Minister Su, the compensation offered from that side will be sent along with their ambassador stationed in our country," Qin Zhiyuan was exceptionally excited.
"That’s quite good; actually, their circumstances are even a bit better than ours."
Now Qin Zhiyuan stopped talking, as no one was willing to accept this situation. So, everyone needed to make an effort together.
When the plane arrived at the airport, a large number of journalists greeted them, but this time Su Yuanyuan requested that her photos not show her frontal face; this was to protect herself.
The group rode back by car. As for the press conference, someone would arrange it.
Returning to her office, Su Yuanyuan finally felt a lot more comfortable. Honestly, outside, she always felt tense.
She tidied up a bit and went to see two leaders to report her work.
After work in the evening, she rode her bike and left. She guessed that Zeng Hongling might be giving birth soon.
On the way, she knew someone was tailing her, which made her feel very uncomfortable. Using Divine Sense to disturb them slightly, she finally arrived at the hospital smoothly.
Entering the ward, she found it empty, but the supplies were still there.
She asked a nurse and learned that Zeng Hongling had gone to the maternity ward.
Su Yuanyuan smiled, feeling she had arrived just in time.
Outside the maternity ward, she saw Yang Liulang and Zeng Yixin there.
"Xiao Su, you’re back?" Zeng Yixin asked excitedly.
"Yes, how is your sister doing inside?"
"It was around noon when she started feeling unwell. The doctor didn’t let her enter the maternity ward and had her wait outside and only took her in half an hour ago."
Yang Liulang, upon seeing Su Yuanyuan, thought the golden light around her seemed even brighter, truly favored by God.
Recalling what his wife said, he smiled too. He wasn’t nervous anymore. He knew nothing would go wrong.
Su Yuanyuan sat on the side, watching the maternity ward’s door, pondering giving birth in this body; as far as she knew, it probably wouldn’t be in a hospital.
It’s said that childbirth is particularly painful, yet women go through it resolutely.
Recalling those three beautiful kids, though she couldn’t touch them, she somehow felt a sense of familiarity.
But what if they returned someday and realized she’s not their biological mother—what would happen then?
Su Yuanyuan got scared, imagining the kids’ disappointed expressions, feeling heartache. How would she face them in the future? Thinking of their cherished mom no longer being there made her feel she let them down.
While she was lost in thought, suddenly she heard Zeng Hongling’s scream, which startled her, making her shiver. That horrifying scream must be extremely painful, right?
Yang Liulang and Zeng Yixin both ran to the door, pressing themselves against it anxiously.
After a while, a baby’s loud cry was heard. The child was born. The loud crying indicated a healthy baby.
Su Yuanyuan checked the time; it was a quarter past seven in the evening.
About fifteen minutes later, the maternity ward’s door opened, and a nurse came out holding the baby.
"Zeng Hongling’s family."
"I am," both men rushed forward.
"Congratulations, a six-pound, two-ounce boy, very healthy."
"Nurse, how is my wife?" Yang Liulang asked anxiously.
His performance made Su Yuanyuan and Zeng Yixin quite satisfied, as he was thinking about his wife now.
"The mother is doing well and is just being tidied up; she’ll be brought out soon."
Standing aside, Su Yuanyuan had no intention of receiving the baby. Neither did Zeng Yixin; he craned his neck to look at the baby but dared not hold it.
Yang Liulang, upon hearing his wife was fine, felt relieved, but when he saw the nurse eyeing him while holding the baby, he hesitated. He had never held a baby before. This tiny bundle—how does one hold it without knowing how?
So he looked pleadingly at Su Yuanyuan, and Zeng Yixin did the same.
Su Yuanyuan felt overwhelmed. She also rarely held babies. When children were first brought to the orphanage, she never touched them, merely watched from the side. How could she be expected to hold one now?
"Family, why aren’t you taking the baby?" the local nurse asked with a unique regional accent, startling all three of them.
With gritted teeth, Su Yuanyuan stepped forward and carefully received the baby, but felt as if she was being burdened. Looking at the little red baby with closed eyes, she felt like she was holding a ticking time bomb.
"Quickly take the baby to the ward and let him lie down," demanded Su Yuanyuan, who dared not look elsewhere, keeping her eyes on the floor, afraid of tripping. A fall for herself would be inconsequential, but what about the baby?
She walked stiffly, and Yang Liulang instructed Zeng Yixin, "Accompany Xiao Su into the ward; I’ll wait here for Hongling."
Zeng Yixin nodded and quickly ran over to catch up with Su Yuanyuan.
Holding the baby with intense nervousness, Su Yuanyuan was startled by the running sounds behind her. However, it wasn’t the time to scold Zeng Yixin.
Zeng Yixin overtook Su Yuanyuan, leading ahead but often turning back to check.
Fortunately, it was during this time of night; otherwise, they would surely become a laughingstock.
When Su Yuanyuan finally placed the baby on the bed, she let out a sigh of relief, feeling sweaty.
"Su Yuanyuan, should we cover him with a blanket?"
Hearing Zeng Yixin’s question, Su Yuanyuan frowned, "I don’t know either. You watch him, I’ll go ask the doctor."
"You stay; I’ll ask," Zeng Yixin ran off. Both felt the child was a hot potato and dared not stay with him.
Before long, he came running back, with the doctor following behind.
The middle-aged doctor, seeing Zeng Yixin so nervous—a grown man getting panicky over a baby, almost on the verge of tears—felt compelled to follow and check on things.
The doctor unwrapped and checked the baby, making the two want to caution him to be gentle.
"Rest assured, the baby is fine. No need to worry. Also, the baby should still be wrapped."
Both remained puzzled, so the doctor demonstrated how to wrap the baby.
"With the nighttime temperature dropping, the baby should have a blanket. He’s been in the mom’s belly, and after coming out, he’ll feel cold, but don’t cover him with too much."
This really was a difficult balance to strike. How much was the right amount?
But no further questions arose. Relying on intuition, watching the doctor cover the baby with his tiny blanket, they thanked him.
"Start cooling boiled water, and when it’s warm, give the baby some when he wakes, using a small spoon, and let him drink slowly."
The doctor gave them more instructions and, with their thanks, departed.
