Chapter 844: Birth
Chapter 844: Chapter 844: Birth
The two of them exchanged a glance, and Zeng Yixin hurriedly went to prepare.
"Boil the spoon in hot water first."
Zeng Yixin dutifully did what he was told to do.
"Su Yuanyuan, I’m going to check on my sister. Will you be okay here by yourself?"
"Sure, go ahead. Didn’t the doctor say that the baby won’t wake up for a while?"
Su Yuanyuan sat to the side, watching the little child without blinking. The baby really did look quite ugly, but they say that when newborns are red, they’ll turn fair later on.
Yang Liulang waited off to the side after his son was taken away, as his wife was brought out.
Thinking about the way Xiao Su held the baby earlier made him chuckle.
In the eyes of strangers, she’s a cool, wise, and capable woman, but just now, Yang Liulang realized that she’s actually just an ordinary girl, with her own fears.
Holding her son looked as if she were cradling a bomb. It was genuinely hilarious.
Yang Liulang leaned against the wall, reflecting on how he was already twenty-nine and now had a son. He thought he wouldn’t marry or have a child in this lifetime.
Yet now he has everything. Everything is so wonderful.
After roughly fifteen minutes, the little brother-in-law arrived.
"Su Yuanyuan is watching the baby, hasn’t my sister been brought out yet?"
"No, not yet." He was feeling a bit anxious himself. Why was it taking so long? It shouldn’t be this way, right?
Just when both were losing their patience, the door of the delivery room opened again.
They quickly ran over and saw the woman lying on the bed.
Zeng Hongling noticed her husband and brother were there, and immediately thought about the baby.
"You’re all here, what about the baby?"
"Su Yuanyuan is in the ward watching over the baby."
"Yuanyuan is back?"
Seeing his energetic wife, Yang Liulang felt truly relieved.
Zeng Hongling was wheeled into the ward and saw her friend smiling at her.
"You’ve worked hard."
Just those three simple words made Zeng Hongling’s eyes turn red, "Yuanyuan, your godson is born."
Su Yuanyuan nodded with a smile, "That’s why I said you’ve worked hard."
Yang Liulang lifted his wife and set her on the bed.
The doctor gave some instructions before the orderly left with the stretcher.
Once sorted out, Zeng Hongling eagerly spoke to Su Yuanyuan, "Yuanyuan, is the baby good-looking?"
Su Yuanyuan was quite troubled, wondering how to put it? Telling the truth would be awful, but lying wasn’t in her nature. Looking at her friend’s hopeful expression, she didn’t know how to respond?
"Is he very ugly?"
"Not exactly, just not good-looking."
"So he is ugly then?"
Hearing their conversation, Yang Liulang couldn’t help but feel it offbeat. His son was disliked right from birth.
Hopefully, this little guy will grow up to be good-looking, or else he might really be disfavored by his own mom.
"No, I need to see him myself. How could I give birth to such an ugly baby? I’m not unattractive."
Yang Liulang busied himself organizing things. The doctor did mention that once the baby wakes, it’ll be time for bowel movements, and this time it will be bloody stools.
Watching the determined Zeng Hongling, Su Yuanyuan had no choice, "You lie down, I’ll bring the baby to you."
"Yixin. Help me up, it’s fine. The doctor said there’s no problem. Besides, more movement will speed up recovery."
Once the baby was placed in Zeng Hongling’s arms, she looked at the tiny, red monkey-like child and was at a loss whether to laugh or cry.
"He really is too ugly."
The other three in the room stayed silent. They really didn’t know what to say.
Just then, a nurse came in delivering some items, prompting Zeng Hongling to immediately ask, "Nurse, are you sure this baby wasn’t swapped? How could he be so ugly, with no resemblance to either of us?"
The middle-aged nurse was taken aback by the question, but quickly replied. "At that time today, you were the only one giving birth, how could he be swapped?
Besides, newborns are still puffy. How could you speak that way as a mother? He’ll look better in a few days.
And you better not babble nonsense; it would hurt if the child heard it in the future?"
Zeng Hongling was chastised by the nurse, feeling embarrassed.
"Everyone else, please leave."
The three of them went out as the nurse taught Zeng Hongling how to hold and feed her baby.
Once the nurse left, the three of them returned.
Zeng Hongling was currently feeding the baby water.
"Yuanyuan, you can go back, Sixth Brother can handle things here."
Su Yuanyuan thought about it and realized she couldn’t really help much there. "Alright then, I came back this morning. I’ll come see you again tomorrow. What kind of soup do you want? Pig’s trotters or fish soup?"
"Anything is fine, thank you."
"Stop being so polite with me. Zeng Yixin, go to my house in two hours to get the soup, I’ll prepare it, you need it for dinner too."
After giving the instructions, Su Yuanyuan left the hospital and stopped by a black market on the way home to buy two particularly clean bones.
In the space, there are pig’s trotters and crucian carp. Better start with crucian carp soup as it’s quicker to make.
The main dish is steamed buns, easy to digest.
When Zeng Yixin arrived, the pot was stewing fish soup on the stove.
The buns were already steamed. She picked two sweet buns for them, leaving the rest as plain buns, alongside a jar of fermented tofu. It’s good enough for the two men.
She was alone at home, and it was almost ten o’clock, so she hastily went into the space.
There’s a lot of work to do tomorrow, everyone was likely working overtime today. Just the thought of it felt exhausting. After living carefree for two lives, this strict schedule was really hard to adjust to.
In the middle of the night, she prepared pig’s trotter soup, and also cooked bone broth with more steamed buns.
She left home half an hour earlier in the morning, going straight to the hospital to deliver soup.
"Yuanyuan, you don’t have to work so hard, have Sixth Brother cook for me here at the hospital."
"Alright, I just got back, and I’m indeed very busy."
Today, Su Yuanyuan was truly overwhelmed; today started with a meeting, followed by a press conference, where Qin Zhiyuan did all the talking, but she had to attend.
There was also a leadership meal at noon; she suddenly felt it was hard to digest work discussions over meals.
Everyone was sure to express their approval of Su Yuanyuan for the recent trip.
"Xiao Su, I have a good eye for talent. I’ll leave these tasks to you in the future. I really dislike dealing with foreign people."
"Boss, that’s not very appropriate."
"No, it’s fine. It’s fine. Let others go abroad in the future, you can hold the fort here."
"Thank you, boss." It really wasn’t easy.
"By the way, Y Country sent a request to establish diplomatic relations."
Su Yuanyuan drank her soy milk before putting the bowl down.
"Tell them to come here for talks directly; I have no interest in discussing in that place.
Besides, they’re still a colony right now, can we even establish relations?" Su Yuanyuan really had no fondness for that country.
