Regression - Second Chance At Life

Chapter 302: At The Circuit

Chapter 302: At The Circuit

Adam rarely slowed down on his way towards the racing circuit, but when he tried to push the car to its limit, he couldn’t do it because of the traffic and road restrictions.

After all, no matter how superhuman Adam is, Physics is still a bitch, and if he dares defy it, he is going to get smacked in the face while getting Danny killed in the process.

Luckily for Adam, Danny seems to be loving the feeling of having his life on the edge as Adam gives him near-death experiences. Of course, it’s all under Adam’s control, as with every passing second, his body gets more familiar with the car and how it behaves under such high speed.

It doesn’t take long for Adam to arrive before the Eylendra Apex circuit.

From the outside, the establishment looks massive, while the main building itself looks very futuristic with its curvy design and glass panels for walls.

Looking at the stunning infrastructure before him, Adam recalls that the government spent a lot of money to build this circuit twenty-five years ago to bring mainstream racing to the city.

Since then, this circuit has held some of the biggest racing events in history. Hyper-class Grand Prix, World Super-bike Championship, Formula Ultimate, Moto GR, and many other extreme racing events.

This circuit is also known for being the hardest circuit to ever race upon by all types of racers, whether they race a car or a bike, because of its complex layout.

The circuit is a 22-kilometer-long track that will punish a driver if they lose concentration for even a second.

To hold a record in this track is to solidify your name in racing history.

The fastest lap ever to be done on this track is by Takahashi Takuya in a heavily custom Otomo Hummingbird, a non-road legal hybrid hyper-car, with a lap time of 6:08.673.

It’s an impressive lap time that hasn’t even come close to being challenged, even though five years have gone by since it was set.

As Adam drives into the large vicinity, he sees the record timer set by Takahashi on a banner, which has his photo and the picture of the car he used.

Adam looks at the timer and shakes his head with a smile. Not because he believes he can beat that record, but because of how inhuman that lap time really is.

Does Adam have any chance to beat that time today? Impossible. That lap time was set by Takahashi after he spent days riding through the circuit to get familiar with it, to make sure that every turn he takes is at the apex and every exit is timed to perfection.

On top of that, the car he used is a heavily custom hybrid hyper-car that was designed to tackle that record time.

Even if Adam out-skills Takahashi in every turn that can be done in the track, Adam knows he will never come close to touching that time because the limiting factor will be the car he is driving.

Even with its monstrous engine, light weight, and extreme aerodynamics, the Nexara Stratosurge is still a road-legal car.

The Otomo Falcon was designed with the circuit in mind so that the record could be achieved; the Nexara Stratosurge is your typical juiced-up road-legal hyper-car designed for normal rich people to drive around.

The thing stopping Adam from breaking that lap time is the car and the laws of physics themselves. If it were just down to skill, Adam knows he could do it.

If he could drive the Otomo Hummingbird today, then Adam would be able to do it with ease after a few laps around the circuit.

Since he can’t achieve the all-time best record or even come close to the top 10 lap times because it was all set by custom hyper-cars, Adam will be going after the lap times set by road-legal cars.

"Dude! I am so excited. I can wait to see you rip this thing through the circuit," Danny says, and Adam drives around the vicinity to enter the track.

As he arrives at the back, he sees a middle-aged man in a suit hurriedly approach them.

He comes to the side where Danny is sitting and gently knocks on the glass.

Danny rolls down the window and looks at the middle-aged man.

"Young Master Coronant, welcome. I am the manager here at the Eylendra Apex circuit. It’s my honor to host you and your friend here today," The middle aged man says, slightly bowing his head down.

Adam looks at the middle-aged man and notices the expensive suit and watch he is wearing, but even then, the status difference between him and Danny is so vast that he has no other option but to address Danny respectfully, just because Danny’s the son of William Coronant.

"Is the team ready?" Instead of acknowledging the manager, Danny gets right to the questioning, showing how a powerful person can ignore all manners and still not find themselves in a pinch.

Even though Danny turned out to be a guy with a decent heart, Adam has noticed that his behavior and actions are still those of a powerful person, someone completely ignorant of the world and its people.

Danny doesn’t know how to act with others because he can get away with doing anything he wants, as nobody checks him on his mistakes.

"Not yet, but I will make sure that they don’t waste your time for much longer. Until then, why don’t you and your friend join us inside and take a look around? I am sure there is plenty of history for you two to check out," The manager says.

Hearing him, Danny turns to look at Adam for his advice. Seeing that Danny’s relying on him, Adam gives a nod.

"Sure," He says. He has never been here, so it would be a nice use of time to check out the establishment and learn about its long racing history.

The manager sees this little interaction between Danny and Adam, and something clicks inside his head.

He takes a look at Adam and sees a refined, handsome young man, who, compared to Danny, is better at almost everything other than money and status.

He is a smart man and is able to immediately sniff out the power dynamic between Adam and Danny.

Danny might be a Coronant, but it looks like he sees his friend as a leader, hence his little look at Adam to ask for his opinion. If not that, Danny would have never bothered asking Adam.

The manager comes to this conclusion because he has interacted with many rich kids, and most of them are very blatant with their attitude. They know they have power, and they don’t hesitate to use it on everyone around them.

But not Danny, with this friend of his. The manager might not be completely right, but he knows he is onto something.

"Great! Please, why don’t you drive in? I will arrange for you our best guide who will show you around while your team gets here," The manager says, pointing towards the entrance while meeting Adam’s gaze for the first time.

Before, the man didn’t even bother looking at Adam, but the moment he noticed Danny giving him some importance, the manager quickly changed his tune, now addressing Adam with the same respect he showed Danny before.

Adam nods his head and drives the car into the establishment and parks it.

Adam and Danny get out of the car, only for the manager to come rushing towards them once again.

"I will take the key of the car from your hand, have my men take it down towards the pits where the engineers can get to work on this right away as soon as they get here," The manager asks Adam.

Adam nods and throws him the key, which the manager fumbles to catch but manages to grab it anyway.

"Thank you, haha. Please wait here for a second. I have called someone you guide you around," The manager says.

"Man, I wish you could just drive this around as soon as we got there," Danny says, ignoring the manager.

"I don’t trust the tires that are on right now, so waiting for a little while is no big deal, plus, I would like to see around. One doesn’t get a personal tour of the circuit daily," Adam says.

"Hahaha, Young Master’s friend here is right. Please take your time looking around. If you need anything, just ask, and we will make sure that you are provided with anything you need," The manager says.

Soon, another person walks in, wearing a tight white shirt, a black blazer, and a short pencil skirt.

Both Adam and Danny look at the woman who just walked in and find her beautiful.

She has long straight black hair, a beautiful face with striking brown eyes, fair skin, a small nose, and plump lips; her body is also killer to look at.

"Finally. This is Kelly. She will be your guide," The manager says with a smile, pointing at Kelly.

"And Kelly, this is Danny Coronant and his friend; they are very important people. I need you to attend to them with everything you have. Don’t mess this up, or you are getting fired," The manager says, stepping closer to Kelly and whispering into her ear.

Hearing his threat, Kelly trembles a little while her eyes look at Danny first, as he is clearly the more important one, given that the manager addresses him with so much respect.

Then she looks at Adam and gets lost for a second as he looks back at her with a handsome, charming smile.
