Chapter 2151: Meeting With Old Friends
Chapter 2151: Meeting With Old Friends
-----
After arriving in the middle of the busy town square, I found most of my friends working diligently among the people. They were cooking large amounts of food for everyone who had lost their homes and now needed both warm meals and safe shelter.
Each of them worked hard on their own tasks, and amazingly, there was no sign of annoyance or tiredness on their faces. Instead, they were full of energy and showed a clear, sincere desire to help these wounded and abandoned people.
It was Luck, Zack, Lara, and Mist, of course!
"There you go, sir. Please be careful while eating!" Lara said with a bright smile as she carefully distributed bowls of hot food. "It's still very hot!"
"You want more meat? Haven't you already come back for seconds?" Zack narrowed his eyes at another person who kept returning to the line. "This food is meant for everyone here."
"Come on now, Zack. Just give them a little more," Mist said gently while she handed out freshly baked bread buns. "There you go, everyone! Please eat as much as you need."
"Hm? Ah! Look who's back!" Luck quickly realized we had arrived, likely from our familiar scent. "Sylphy's awake too!"
We ran forward to meet them right away. Our friends quickly left their work to the other helpers who were already assisting nearby, then reunited with us in a rush of happy voices and open arms.
"Sylphyyyyyy!" Alma cried out, running straight toward me and wrapping me in a big, tight hug as she almost jumped into my arms. "You're awakeeeee! And your wings! Wow! I am pretending to be surprised. We all saw them before!"
"Y-Yeah, they're wings," I sighed softly while hugging her back with equal warmth. "I'm so glad to see you again, Lara! Sorry for being out for so long..."
"It's fine!" Lara smiled widely and kissed my cheek several times with pure affection. "You were tired and needed plenty of rest, right?" She rubbed her soft face against mine, and her fluffy, wool-like hair felt very warm and gentle to the touch. "Hmm! Mooch!" She gave me one more kiss for good measure. "We've been working diligently here the whole time, helping everyone however we can! My Spirits are helping with the reconstruction of the city! We're growing more wood and stones too."
"G-Growing?" I wondered aloud, feeling a little flustered yet very happy that she was being so lovingly close with me. "Ah, right. Your Spirits of Nature and Earth are growing the trees and the stones?"
"Yes!" she nodded with bright energy shining in her eyes. "We need them in large quantities after all!"
"Lara, come on. Let me greet my friend too!" Mist said as she gently pushed Lara a little to the side so she could step closer.
"Hahaha! S-Sorryyyyy!" Lara giggled and patted Mist's head with playful affection. "Mist, don't be jealous! I wasn't having her all for myself, I swear!"
"Sylphy!" Mist said, hugging me tightly with clear relief filling her voice. "I'm so happy you're awake too... I was so worried. I went to see you every single day...! I was growing more and more worried as time passed. I really thought you would never wake up again..."
"Aw, how could that ever happen?" I asked with a gentle smile while hugging her back just as tightly. "I missed you too, Mist! It's so nice to hug you again." I kissed her forehead right between her second pair of eyes.
"Heheh..." Mist giggled and blushed cutely. "I'm glad! Are you feeling alright?" She carefully pressed her hand against my forehead. "Are you not feeling feverish? Sick in any way? You went through so much, bestie..."
"I'm alright," I said while gently patting her hand after taking it in mine. "Thank you for worrying about me though... It's only been two weeks, but you and Lara are looking even prettier than before! You're both like goddesses, haha."
"T-That's...!" Mist blushed even deeper and looked down in a cute, shy way. "Heheh, r-really?"
"Am I?!" Lara gasped with playful delight. "Well, I always knew I'm quite the catch!"
"Yeah!" I said happily, feeling the warm joy of the reunion fill the space around us.
"Well, you're even cuter as a fairy now, though I wonder... did you grow smaller?" Mist asked with mild curiosity. "We're almost the same size again!"
Mist, Lara, and I had been relatively similar in size years ago, but I had eventually grown taller than both of them. Now we stood almost the same height once more.
"Uh, yeah, kinda..." I sighed. "Turning into a fairy reduced my size somehow, which really sucks... I'll have to find a way to do something about that later. Is it too obvious?"
"Nah, not really," Lara shook her head firmly. "Don't worry about it! Plus, you could always wear shoes or boots with platforms, or even some big, sexy heels!"
"Right..." I nodded thoughtfully. "I guess that might work! At least a little," I said while rubbing my chin as I considered the idea.
"Looks like you girls are busy. Maybe we should just go."
A tall, handsome young man stepped forward from nearby. He looked muscular and strong, with lightly long, wild green hair and a small braid hanging from the left side of his head. Elegant spiritual tattoos spread across his skin in beautiful patterns.
"Zack!"
I jumped over to him without hesitation and hugged him tightly. He looked surprised at first, but then he smiled and hugged me back with equal strength.
"Sylphy...! Did you miss me?" he asked a bit awkwardly while scratching the side of his face.
Well, of course I missed him! Why is he even asking something so obvious?
Without any hesitation, I hugged him even tighter and gave him a big, warm smooch right on his cheek.
"Of course I did, dummy!"
"I-I see! Hahaha..." he laughed in an embarrassed way, blushing cutely in a manner that made him look much younger for a moment.
He's grown so big and strong now, yet he still acts like the same bratty boy I remember from before.
