Chapter 2159: The Next Morning
Chapter 2159: The Next Morning
-----
While we talked about life and what we wanted to accomplish or do in the near future, something quickly came to me: Lolth.
We had not discussed much about her yet, but she was clearly a giant elephant in the room that had to be addressed sooner or later.
From what I remember, my grandfather had sealed her away inside her own dungeon. Since then she had requested something about wanting to meet me personally.
"Yeah, Lolth," my mother said. "She's sealed in the dungeon… I think you already were told about her circumstances, right? And how she's acting bizarrely, saying that once she has a conversation with you, she will surrender."
"Hm, yeah," I nodded. "I heard. I don't know if she's saying the truth. I cannot completely trust that woman… bug… arachnid… whatever she is. She's the one that provoked all of this chaos. She spread the curse. She turned the monsters intelligent… there should be no other answer than to kill her. With grandpa here that shouldn't even be a challenge."
"I agree…" Aquarina said, crossing her arms tightly. "But she's… surrendering? I guess she knows she's cornered and is trying to appeal for her life… or something similar."
"Hm…" my father nodded slowly. "Yeah, she doesn't really deserve mercy, even if she asks for forgiveness or to surrender… but even then… killing someone that is surrendering and defenseless… it doesn't sit well with me, even though I still want her dead."
"Sealing her is an option," said my mother thoughtfully. "But then she might eventually find a way to break the seal. We should do something right now to guarantee her loyalty and make sure she won't do something terrible again. If we can recruit a god to our side… even someone like her… things might improve. There could be more chances against terrible threats like Dimenion. We might become more prepared."
"Armageddon is also a goddess…" I said, crossing my arms.
"Technically not completely," said Felicia. "I analyzed her carefully. She's an Artificial Spirit, right? She has done a lot of interesting and amazing things herself, but she is not like them in that regard…"
"She has Divine Power and a Divinity, and she did manage to ascend, no?" I asked.
"Even then there's a fundamental difference in power, mastery, and ancestry between her and Lolth," Felicia explained. "Lolth is… much, much more ancient! She's among the gods themselves. She came from their world… could you imagine what we could learn if we made her our ally? If we could ask her about what has happened before?"
"I guess…" I nodded. "Yeah…"
I fell silent for a while, thinking about everything carefully.
But then the practical question remained: when were we going to pay her a visit?
"So when are we doing this? We have to go together, hopefully with grandpa, to make sure she can't run," I said.
"Yeah, tomorrow we can arrange something," my mother replied. "What do you think? Of course, if you need to rest…"
"No, no, it's fine. Let's go tomorrow then," I nodded firmly. "Tomorrow it is."
After sharing a meal together, we returned to the city. I decided to still join my friends. Together with Aquarina and also all our parents and more, we worked diligently on helping the people who needed it most.
We cooked large meals for the hungry and built simple shelters for the homeless, while doing everything in our power to heal those who still remained sick and anything else that could be done for those who had lost so much.
The Adventurer Guild was miraculously still standing, and we got to greet the Guild Master over there, who was doing surprisingly alright even after everything that had happened.
After a long and tiring day, we returned to Felicia's home. It was getting rather cramped with so many people staying there, but the rooms were still barely enough for everyone.
Once we finished dinner, I went to take a bath with my love, and then we went straight to bed, sleeping soundly after such an exhausting day.
Thus, when morning came, we moved to have breakfast.
"Hello Sylph, good morning."
"Grandpa?!"
Grandad, the king of elves, was already sitting in the dining room, calmly enjoying a cup of coffee and some waffles that mom had cooked for him.
"He came on his own, saying he wanted to eat something I cooked for him," my mother giggled softly. "This is the first time I've ever cooked something for him. I always thought he didn't even need to eat."
"What…? I do eat," he sighed. "I just… sometimes can sustain myself without eating by taking in sunlight. But I've used a lot of my power recently, so I require proper sustenance now."
"So is it good?" she asked with a small smile.
"It is," he nodded. "I am… I regret not having asked you to cook for me earlier, my daughter. You are my youngest girl, and… I regret that I had you when I was already so old. My fatherly instincts were surely much stronger back when I was younger. You can tell by how spoiled and arrogant your younger siblings are. I spoiled them too much. I regret that too. There's many things I regret."
"The past is the past," said my mother gently. "We cannot go back to the past. Let's be happy with what we have today and just enjoy the present."
"Huh, hearing that from a fellow elf is indeed strange," he said, laughing lightly. "Our race is characteristic for regretting things and missing the past, especially… those short-lived ones that sparked our lives with color."
"Well, that's something I learned from your granddaughter," said my mom, smiling warmly at me. "Alright girls, sit down. Let's eat breakfast. Everyone should be waking up by now. We have a long day ahead of us."
"Yeah!" I nodded with determination.
A new day began, one that was going to be perhaps the longest this year based on all the important things that we were going to need to do.
