Chapter 2160: Breakfast With The King Of Elves

We sat down to eat breakfast with grandpa and used this opportunity to ask him a lot of things about his long life and what he knew about the world and more.

Especially his thoughts about Lolth, and what we should ultimately do with her.

"I’ve never been the type of man to believe in second chances," he said calmly. "At least not to... those who might truly not even regret what they have done. Lolth clearly remains the same as before in many ways. Although, she did show some kind of change... I wouldn’t say it was a full change of heart. But when she saw you defeat Dimenion, when she saw Yggdrasil and the Spirit Kings appear, summoned by the young Saintess, your friend Lara... She seemed genuinely awed. I remember looking into her eyes at that moment. It was as if something that had been clouding them faded away for a short while."

"R-Really?" I was shocked by his words. "But why would she change...?"

"I think it has to do with you, of course," he said with a kind smile. "Or maybe with everyone around you... your strong bonds with your companions, the strength you showcased that day... maybe that gave even a monster like her something resembling ’hope’. Or perhaps... maybe not, and I am simply hallucinating. I am an old man now, so maybe that is the case..."

"Hmm..." Aquarina crossed her arms, looking thoughtful. "I don’t know what to believe..."

"How else could we explain how she freed Ruby’s father without asking for anything in return at the end?" I asked. "Ruby herself said that she had offered her own life in exchange, but Lolth never agreed to any deal. Her presence simply left and returned to the dungeon where she was sealed by grandpa, right?"

"Yeah," Aquarina confirmed. "I saw what happened back then with my own eyes."

"Hm... it’s really a complete mystery whatever is going on inside the head of that bug," I muttered.

"If she truly is planning to surrender, then she will have to agree to all of our conditions," said my grandfather firmly. "We can, perhaps, arrange something workable if we do things smartly."

"Maybe..." I nodded, rubbing my chin. "Maybe..."

I looked out through the window, growing a little nervous about the idea of confronting her face to face.

I was not exactly scared, though. I just... did not know what to tell her, or how I should even speak to her.

What would we even talk about once we stood in front of her?

My Familiars were all here with me, though they were mostly napping quietly at the moment.

"Alice, what do you think?" I asked her softly.

"I know Lolth even less than everyone else here," she sighed. "I cannot say for sure... but perhaps we can arrange something. Remember Sylphy, you’re a goddess now, right? So don’t act weak before her. Show your power clearly. If she’s surrendering, it is only because you’re stronger than her."

"Hm," I nodded faintly.

"Plus you have us!" Yggdra suddenly appeared in her full, voluptuous mommy form, shocking me with her sudden size. "Aren’t we divine beings as well? Gods in our own right!"

"That’s right," Beelzebub said, appearing in his larger and more imposing form. "Don’t be intimidated, Sylphy. You are a Pantheon on your own, all of us together."

"Together, we are already a group of gods," said Armageddon, emerging amidst flickering flames. "Of course, not everyone with you can rise to our exact level, but still! We are gods."

Then Scarlet and Sapphire appeared as well, taking their elegant humanoid forms.

"Yep!" Scarlet said with a fiery smile, her long red hair waving freely. It now had several black strands mixed in, and an even stronger divine aura radiated from her body.

"Count on us too," Sapphire smiled warmly while crossing her arms. Her long blue hair had gained similar black strands to Scarlet’s, reflecting their newly evolved forms.

The combined divine power of all my divine familiars present was overwhelming. On top of that, Yggdra had brought "our daughter" from the Dungeon. The little one looked both adorable and surprisingly strong, overflowing with pure power of her own.

"Awah!" she said cutely while smiling up at everyone.

"I guess..." I smiled despite myself. "I guess it’s fine... But you guys... aren’t you too cramped in here?!"

They were barely fitting inside the room, pressed against the walls and even the ceiling.

"This place is too damn small!" Beelzebub complained loudly.

"Yeah!" Armageddon agreed. "Not fitting for our divinities at all!"

"Okay, okay, I am working on expanding it, but I never designed it so it would host so many people at once!" Felicia said angrily, letting out a long sigh. "Now turn smaller or leave already!"

"Ugh..."

My familiars reluctantly returned to their smaller forms and floated quietly by my side once more.

"Hahaha," my grandfather let out a soft chuckle. "Indeed, this is why she’s so afraid of you! You’re too strong, my granddaughter. Your familiars... and yourself! You’re already like a small pantheon of your own. Maybe this is also why Yggdrasil and her children are so interested in you."

"I guess..." I let out another quiet sigh. "Oh, good morning everyone!"

Everyone else finally woke up after all the loud commotion, and we enjoyed a good, warm breakfast together as a large family.

After breakfast ended, we moved in relative silence back toward Evercraft, walking along the route that led to the mountain where the Dragon Tomb Dungeon was located.

There, Lolth’s presence, even while sealed, could be felt ever so strongly in the air.

Even as we moved forward with confidence, my heart could not help but harbor quiet doubts about her earlier words.

Could she really be planning an alliance and truly surrendering to us?

Or... was it all a carefully crafted lie, and she was simply waiting to ambush us inside after saying those things to make us lower our guard?

We would only be able to tell once we actually stepped inside.

But I did not plan to relax even for a moment until then.
