Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 1499: Defense Border Part 14

Chapter 1499: Defense Border Part 14

"AN AMBUSH!"

Leading the group was Hazel, who immediately sensed multiple presences of monsters nearby.

She quickly called for the soldiers and her members to prepare for battle.

The other players also assumed a battle stance and obeyed Hazel’s command.

They had all received a sudden emergency quest from the NPCs in Bardmon City.

As long as they obey Hazel’s command and defend the civilians, they would be rewarded generously.

Most importantly, there was the allure of recognition by the Emperor Aether himself.

Any players who were under the rule of the Aetherion Empire knew how significant a figure the emperor was.

Even just a glimpse of him could immediately propel their value to a new height.

After all, with that kind of connection, things would become easier for their guild to get things done.

As the players and NPC soldiers surrounded the perimeter, keeping the regular civilians safe, the monsters finally appeared.

"Hounds?" Hazel’s eyes narrowed slightly. As someone who had resided in Bardmon City for a long time, she knew hounds didn’t exist in the wild.

Not to mention, these hounds didn’t behave naturally like the wild monsters.

Instead, they seemed to be acting on an order.

"There should be a Summoner Enemy nearby. Remain alert." She highly doubted these kinds of high-level hounds were summoned by a player. If anything, this could very well be an enemy whom they were evacuating from.

’Don’t tell me the Vanguard Guild Leader has fallen?’ She wondered silently. The explosion at the defense border was resounding and even spread to their area.

One could easily imagine just how chaotic and intense the battle was at the site.

While Hazel was wondering who their enemies were, the hounds growled furiously and leapt toward them.

"Defend the civilians!" Hazel quickly shouted and fired multiple attacks toward the hounds.

Sparks of clashes immediately consumed their field, whereas the civilians could only cower in fear.

Some couldn’t resist screaming and crying as they hid behind cover.

"Mommy, I’m scared."

"Don’t be scared. These people will defend us."

"We’re all going to die!"

SLAP!

As soon as another person screamed those words, the mother of a child immediately slapped their face without hesitation.

Was he blind or deaf?

She was just pacifying her child that everything would be fine, and he had the nerve to shout that they were going to die?

You will be the first to sacrifice if anyone has to die today!

At this moment, a member wearing the Blue Wolves emblem approached them nervously.

"Hello, our leader said the position we’re in is difficult to defend for everyone. We will break open a path, so make sure to hang on tight to your loved ones to escape during the opening."

The player didn’t dare to sound too authoritative either because the NPC mother sounded exactly like his mother when they were enraged. And no way in hell would he dare to challenge them or offend that kind of person.

Sure enough, the NPC mother changed face and tone. "Thank you, we’ll be in your care."

"No worries, it’s our duty." The player patted their chest and proceeded to inform the rest.

While they tried their best to evacuate them, Hazel and the other combatants were busy fighting the hounds.

"How are these hounds so strong?"

"My gawd, they’re like mini elite bosses in dungeons!"

The tanks were in a struggle. The hounds’ paws and magical attack pierced through their shields, causing their health point to continuously drop.

As if that wasn’t sad enough, the hounds also inflicted bleed, which further reduced their healing recovery.

The healers on their side had their healing cut and were forced to use more heals than normal just to maintain the tank’s health points.

"Tanks, can you stop taking so much damage?" A healer exclaimed in annoyance.

Almost half their mana had been depleted from healing so many tanks at once. The battle had just barely started, and they were already forced to drink mana recovery potions.

"Stop whining and maintain your position." Hazel’s voice resounded. Unlike the others, she was prepared for a difficult fight.

If even the well-known stubborn Vanguard Guild Leader called for a retreat, you know damn well that shit was about to go down.

Just when Hazel was about to make another command, she suddenly sensed an immediate danger.

Without hesitation, she cast all her defensive skills.

CLANK!

Her body was knocked back by the impact. She crashed into a nearby stone; her health dropped by more than 30%.

"Captain!" Blue Wolves members were startled by the scene.

Some of them hurriedly rushed to her aid, whereas the tanks began to stand in front of her. Their eyes glared fiercely at the culprit.

"Wow, the sense of alertness is quite something." Cedric clicked his tongue and wondered where these ants got such a fast reaction from.

But then again, if it wasn’t for his injuries, Cedric could have instantly killed Hazel already.

"A Tier 4 Summoner..."

Nobody knew who said it, but as soon as they did, nearly every player trembled slightly.

They dreaded Tier 3 NPCs, and now they were told that their ambusher was a Tier 4 caliber?

Despair quickly overwhelmed the weaker-minded players.

No wonder this kind of mission would get the emperor’s attention.

Who in their right mind would pick a fight with a Tier 4 enemy at this moment?

"Don’t be scared." Hazel patted off the dust and stared at Cedric. "The enemy is injured, most likely snuck away from the battle and discovered us by accident."

"Ah, so it’s a defeated opponent!" Those who understood Hazel the most knew she was deliberating on demeaning the enemy to ruin their mentality.

Sure enough, Cedric was ticked off when he encountered another similar copy of Xu Feng.

’Just who are these fuckers??!’ Cedric was starting to wonder if it was the right choice to come here. None of them in hell were trained for this.

"Look at his silence. I’m right. He definitely lost miserably at the defense border."
