Chapter 1501: Defense Border Part 16
Chapter 1501: Defense Border Part 16
"Guild Leader!" In a rush, Carmen quickly approached Xu Feng.
"Huh?" Xu Feng’s eyes remained hazy as he tried to look up. When he saw Carmen, he thought it was an illusion.
"Crap, I must be really losing it."
The cleansing process had barely reached 20% because of how slow his fanning speed was.
Moreover, the corruption seemed to have taken a turn for the worse when it realized it was being cleansed.
Rather than being relieved of the pain, his pain actually intensified as he kept fanning.
Despite this, Xu Feng didn’t stop at all because his mana was slowly coming back. And when it did, he would restore his health to avoid it dropping to a danger mark.
Because of how much concentration it required, he had lost his sense of time and his surroundings.
"Feng!!" While Xu Feng thought he was hallucinating, Carmen knelt on one knee and held his face. Tears seemed to be forming around the corners of her eyes.
Even though she knew this was a video game, the fact that he was in pain like this hurt her deeply.
"Who did this to you?" She nearly choked on her saliva when she asked this question.
From the physical touch, Xu Feng finally regained some clarity and glanced at Carmen properly.
"It’s not an illusion?" He asked weakly.
"Of course, it’s not you, big idiot!" Carmen scolded harshly. The harsh tone was laced with a mix of sorrow and grief. It was clear that she wasn’t really angry but was devastated to see his state.
"You mind helping me fan?" Xu Feng tried his best to smile and dropped the fan.
Carmen was naturally confused why he needed to be fanned but didn’t question. The fan clearly had some effect on his condition.
"Let’s get you to safety first." She wanted to first bring him to a safe spot because she could see an NPC battling a Demon at a distance.
"No..."
Alas, Xu Feng rejected her suggestion.
"We have to stay here, or else the Demon Lord would really flee the scene before reinforcements arrive."
Right now, Kong Ming was doing his best to keep Karoos in the defense border. If he were to move to another area, it might alert the Demon Lord and prompt them to escape the scene as well.
By then, it would really be a disaster for the people of the Divine World.
Carmen was rendered speechless by his words. And you still have the nerve to call yourself despicable?
Was this really the act of a despicable man?
She was positive that if Xu Feng really prioritized his own safety, then he wouldn’t have been in such a state.
Of course, he would definitely deny the claim and use other things to paint himself as the bad guy again and again.
After all, he had a fixated mindset to protect himself from being taken advantage of.
"Alright, fine." Carmen grabbed the fan and began fanning him. Once she held the fan, details of the item were displayed to her.
’Cleansing effect?’ She was startled and inspected him closely this time. Sure enough, she soon discovered him to be shrouded by some dark substance.
As she fanned him, she asked, "Was this done by that Demon Lord?"
"Demon Lord Karoos... Tier 4 expert." Xu Feng replied. He was no longer as fragile as before, now that he didn’t need to fan himself anymore.
"Why didn’t you call for me if you’re going to fight such a tough opponent?"
"Well, I didn’t expect an opponent like this. I called for you as soon as I discovered it."
Carmen felt her heart soften slightly when she realized he had indeed requested her assistance at the first moment. Otherwise, she would have really given him an earful for being so reckless.
"Then who is the NPC battling the Demon Lord Karoos?"
"Our newly recruited strategist, Kong Ming."
"Kong Ming? No clue who that is, but okay." As someone who wasn’t interested in history, Carmen had little to no reaction to the name.
It wasn’t that she didn’t know the historical figure Kong Ming, but more like she had no energy to care for them.
Her only concern was to get rid of the dark substance around Xu Feng.
Of course, that didn’t mean Carmen wasn’t paying attention to the battle.
"Kong Ming doesn’t seem to be faring well." She made a judgment when she could tell the Demon Lord Karoos was gradually gaining the advantage.
Although Kong Ming was doing his best, the corruption inevitably landed on him, causing his movement and reaction speed to decrease.
"Judge Olivia and the others are coming." Xu Feng also shifted his sight at the battle.
Once they arrived, the battle would reverse its tide, or at least change for the better.
"Oh, by the way, I’ve encountered that pest Summoner." Carmen suddenly mentioned the scene of Cedric trying to kill the civilians.
’Hah, so he really did flee from Kong Ming.’ He wasn’t surprised that Cedric was heavily injured.
But what really surprised him was that he fled so far and stumbled across the evacuation group. If he had to guess, the motive behind his attack was probably to seek redemption from Karoos.
At the end of the day, Cedric was an elite rank, whereas Karoos was a Demon Lord. In terms of hierarchy, Cedric was beneath Karoos. If Karoos intended to pursue his mistakes, then Cedric’s life would be very miserable.
This type of situation was no different than having your useless boss assign you difficult work as a lowly employee, and you failed the assignment, resulting in the boss’s retaliation for giving you overtime with no pay.
"Did you think I was wrong to not capture him?" Carmen asked. Now that she confirmed Xu Feng’s safety, she finally recalled her previous interaction with Hazel.
"No need to be overly worried." Xu Feng understood her predicament and explained. "Even though Cedric was injured by Kong Ming, he was still at the Tier 4 level. You won’t even be able to capture him once he is determined to escape."
