Chapter 1543: Legacy Era Part 13
"Damn it!"
"How dare the Vanguard Guild play such dirty tricks!"
"Guerrilla warfare. That’s the strategy of a weakling!"
Despite a successful initiative, the Vanguard Elite Teams were soon overwhelmed by the retaliation from their opponents.
After all, their opponents’ numbers were superior.
Even though they had mini bosses after them, as long as their tanks just did their best to survive and retain the aggro, the rest of the team could just focus their firepower on the Vanguard members.
"Use the Ragged Scrolls! No need to save them since our main enemies have arrived!"
"Kill them all and try to resurrect Helen once she can be revived!"
Helen was the name of their female shotcaller. Her importance was quite heavy as she made numerous good calls and judgments during their navigation in the new Twilight Glades.
Therefore, they needed to revive her as soon as possible.
Of course, that was only viable if they had the time and opportunity to do so.
While the group was pursuing Benson and Dark Night’s Team, they failed to notice a flank from the far right.
"Intruders from the right!" By the time one of them noticed their presence, it was already too late.
SLASH!
Lightning Blade’s eyes flared up in killing intent as he effectively killed off the DPS classes in one shot.
The terrible thing about being a glass cannon was that they failed to understand their positioning.
To expose themselves was equivalent to courting death.
Hence, it would be rude of Lightning Blade if he didn’t comply with their courting death moment.
He was a gentleman who loved to fulfill people’s dreams and wishes.
Absolutely no scam or deceit here.
"Get that swordsman!" Someone shouted and hurriedly called for people to halt Lightning Blade’s killing spree.
’Get me?’ Lightning Blade mused and quickly used his swordsman’s cloud-shifting movement speed to avoid the tankers.
While changing his position, he made sure to hack a few slashes to a nearby Arcane Mage, giving them a new look.
"Ahhhh!" The Arcane Mage cried in agony when their tendons were slashed precisely by Lightning Blade.
Despite their health points being relatively healthy from the protection buffs, they were rendered useless in battle unless they recovered their damaged tendons.
Since the new update dropped, players must be cautious of the injuries they sustained.
It didn’t even matter if a player was at full health or not.
If they were injured somewhere that rendered them incapable of moving, they wouldn’t be able to participate.
The feeling was akin to real life, where if one injured their legs, their mobility would rapidly decrease.
Just when Lightning Blade was about to lock onto his next target, his eyes suddenly narrowed when he sensed danger.
CLANK!
He immediately swung his sword to the right and managed to block a sword attack on time.
"Who are you?" Lightning Blade could feel his hand turning somewhat numb, which meant this swordsman was strong.
In the meantime, members of Paragon’s eyes lit up in excitement.
"It’s Serene Paragon! We’re saved!"
"Haha, these Vanguard members are screwed!"
"Serene Paragon?" This was the first time Lightning Blade had heard of the name.
He glanced at the woman in wary.
Someone who could deflect his sword strike with such ease proved that they were no easy opponent.
’When did they have such a swordsman class?’ He pursed his lips.
His strike had been devil-trained in the Training Hall and honed further with his hidden class, Sword Revenant.
"Nice to meet you, Lightning Blade." Serene Paragon mused.
"I originally wasn’t going to participate. But seeing your swordsmanship, I couldn’t help but join in for the fun."
"We can have a spar next time, so why don’t we make the appointment by then? I gladly spar with you no matter how long you want." Lightning Blade suggested cheekily.
"Hmm, but I want to spar now." Serene Paragon shook her head and refused his suggestion.
"Oh well, it was worth a try." Lightning Blade no longer joked around. He stared intensely at her, but also made sure to glance at her teammates from behind.
This wasn’t a 1v1 duel, but a war.
He wasn’t going to be dumb enough to believe that they wouldn’t intervene.
"Nobody intervenes in this battle. I don’t want others to think our Paragon can’t handle a tiny elite team leader from an upstart guild." Serene Paragon suddenly exclaimed. Her words practically made it impossible for anyone to back her up.
If they did so, it was equivalent to admitting that they were inferior to the Vanguard Guild.
Needless to say, the other guilds weren’t quite happy with her statement.
"Are we here for a picnic or a war?"
"What’s with her stubbornness to refuse help? Does she not trust us?"
At a glance, it seemed like Serene Paragon was going to handle Lightning Blade alone.
But on a deeper inspection, it could possibly be Serene Paragon protecting Lightning Blade.
After all, if they simply clashed with their swords without the intent of killing the others, and the rest were barred from interfering, that would mean his survival chance increased.
Of course, only a minority harbored such thoughts. They didn’t dare to actually voice it aloud when they saw how members of Paragon adhered to the command without any hesitation.
Their alliance couldn’t be disrupted at this juncture. Anyone who dares to ruin the alliance was destined to be condemned heavily.
"Now that no one would interfere, would you be able to focus on our spar?" Serene Paragon stared at Lightning Blade and asked.
"Very well, Serene Paragon." Lightning Blade raised his sword and smiled confidently. "I, elite team leader of Vanguard, Lightning Blade, shall face your sword. May the best swordsman win!"
"May the best swordsman win!" This was the greeting between fellow swordsman players. Serene Paragon assumed her battle stance.
As their eyes met, a nearby small leaf gradually swayed left and right.
Once the leaf landed on the ground, the two movements’ speed increased substantially.
CLANK!
Others could only see a flash go by, followed by an additional sound of sword clanking and the aftershock wave caused by their collision.
