Chapter 1544: Legacy Era Part 14

CLANK!

The collision between their swords erupted with a violent shockwave.

The nearby grass flattened instantly, and the surrounding players were forced to take several steps back.

For a brief moment, everyone thought they had witnessed a simple exchange.

But the shockwave and damage caused by the two made them realize something.

"Were swordsman players always this powerful?"

"Damn, I got a cut just from their shockwave."

"No wonder Serene Paragon told us not to interfere. If we make any accidental move, the collision between powers could easily cause massive damage on our sides."

Many had thought Serene Paragon was being willful and doing as she pleased in such a major battle.

However, reality had shown that she was simply being concerned about their group’s overall safety.

It wasn’t uncommon for the current players to know that a bad combination of spells could easily backfire and deal massive damage to their own teammates.

Swoosh!

The small exchange ended, and the two swordsmen players kept their distance at a fixed interval.

Not too far but not too close either.

"Not bad," Serene Paragon complimented.

"You too." Lightning Blade smiled lightly.

The two were basically sparring earlier without the intent of killing, but rather with the intent of learning from their opponent.

Despite this, their destruction had nearly caused the others to perceive them as monsters.

An unlucky Summoner who failed to keep their distance in time ended up being flayed around like a dead fly.

Their expression was pale as they got traumatized by the sword slashing crescent light.

With the battle temporarily paused, the Summoner quickly scurried away from these two demon-like swordsmen.

Time seemed to have paused between the two, who were analyzing each other.

’She’s rivaling me in techniques to control the battlefield.’ As someone who trained like hell in the Training Hall, Lightning Blade found it hard to believe someone else could be on par with him.

She didn’t receive any training, but what if she did?

A shiver ran down his spine when he could imagine their terrifying combat prowess rising to a new height.

’His technique is similar to that of the demon slayers. Each slash is stacked up on the attack buff. I’ll have to disrupt his stacks if I want to win.’ Serene Paragon thought to herself.

The two once again raised their swords up—this time for real.

"Hopefully you don’t disappoint me, Lightning Blade!"

"Same to you!"

The instant their short conversation ended, both disappeared on the spot.

SWISH!

Lightning Blade’s figure blurred as he activated his Swordsman movement technique.

His body moved like a phantom, leaving behind several afterimages as he approached from Serene Paragon’s blind spot.

A normal player wouldn’t even notice the attack.

But Serene Paragon wasn’t normal.

CLANG!

She turned around at the exact moment his blade descended and blocked. Her lips curled up into a devilish smile.

"So a parry does stop your stacking." She mused.

Lightning Blade flinched slightly, clearly not expecting her to figure out his stacks only count when the attack landed. A parry was a deflection, which meant that his attack failed.

It was different from a block because a block still meant that the attack had occurred, as opposed to a parry.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about." Lightning Blade snickered. As if he would admit or confirm her suspicions. That would be a noob move!

"Suit yourself," she smiled and retaliated.

Soon, their swords slid against each other, sparks scattering across the battlefield.

Amidst the clash, Lightning Blade suddenly twisted his wrist, and the blade changed direction.

’Hmm?’ Serene Paragon instantly realized what he was going after.

A horizontal slash.

Then another.

And another.

Three strikes.

Five strikes.

Nine strikes.

His swordsmanship was like a storm.

Unfortunately, each of them was deflected and parried by Serene Paragon.

"Is that all you got?" She then asked curiously, beads of sweat formed around her forehead. It was easier said than done to parry Lightning Blade’s strike, which came in all forms and directions.

The same goes for Lightning Blade, who was somewhat panting for breath.

"Looks like—"

Just when Serene Paragon was about to say something, a gust of wind suddenly blew past her.

Her complexion quickly turned ugly when she realized the situation.

Someone was firing a spell at Lightning Blade.

Simultaneously, Lightning Blade also noticed the attack and quickly drew a crescent with his sword.

BOOOM!

The impact of the collusion sent Lightning Blade flying away.

THUD!

He crashed into a nearby tree and coughed up a mouthful of blood. The spell was a high Tier 2 attack, and he didn’t have ample time to prepare for an abrupt attack.

"WHO WAS IT!"

Needless to say, Serene Paragon was infuriated by the dishonorable move. She turned around and tried to search for the culprit.

The culprit wasn’t hard to find when her own guild members all glared at one specific Sorcerer.

A sorcerer who belonged to Nocturnal.

The Sorcerer in question tried to avoid their gazes and glanced at his leader.

"This isn’t a one-versus-one battle. We’re in a time crunch and in a war. Vanguard already learned of our location, so we must make haste." The Nocturnal Leader, Lionfield, exclaimed.

He was justifying his action as necessary.

And truth be told, he wasn’t incorrect. If this was indeed a proper spar, then that action was considered foul and underhanded.

However, that clearly wasn’t the case here.

"You’ve lost my respect." Serene Paragon simply shook her head and sheathed her sword. "I no longer have any interest in continuing here."

As a swordsman class, it was hard for her to find someone with whom she could spar without holding back.

Not to mention, her appearance here was suggested by the Vanguard Guild Leader to test his subordinate. She was indeed impressed, but the fun was also spoiled because of these capitalists.

She turned to Lightning Blade, who had recomposed himself.

"We shall spar the next time." She calmly stated.

"Very well, I’ll be eager to fight a fellow swordsman player any time." Lightning Blade nodded. He held no hostility toward her because he knew she wasn’t at fault.
