Chapter 787: A Bloody Explosion

The Ghoul Chief couldn't even let out a whimper before Valentina tore off his head as a fountain of blood gushed out of his decapitated body.

Lily, Reva, and Yuria had blinking expressions upon seeing Valentina tear off his head like paper.

They were almost cornered to death by this ghoul, and yet Valentina was able to deal with him so easily. They wished they should have given her some blood earlier and let her fight in her ethereal beast form.

Being under the suit didn't seem to really suit her, which would get destroyed whenever she transformed, just like now.

All three of them felt the muddy water disappating rapidly till the floor was back to normal.

"Good job, Valentina!" Yuria said with a wide smile as she hugged one of Valentine's furry legs.

"Thank the heavens. You saved us all," Lily said with a relieved smile as she caressed one of Valentine's limbs.

"Damien would be proud of you if he had seen you destroy that Ghoul Chief like it was nothing," Reva said with a subtle smile.

Prrrr…." Valentina let out a soft sound to express how happy she was to hear that.

"Oh no. They seem to be in trouble. Let's go and help them," Lily said upon seeing that Jake and Gunner's team were getting suppressed by the four ghouls, who weren't easy at all to deal with.

A minute ago,

Gunner and Jake's team were finding it quite tough to deal with three-four ghouls, especially since the Ghoul Chief had activated his domain which was making them sluggish as well.

Ana had deployed a few poison orbs, but all they did was buy them more time since killing them was harder than they expected, especially since they had to deal with four of them.

It was 8 v 4, but the strength difference made more difference than their numbers.

Jake and his team were barely managing to suppress two of the ghouls and had their hands full.

Gunner and his team were getting wrecked by the other two ghouls. But the main reason for this was that two of his team members weren't giving the support he required, namely Lita and Becca.

These two were trying to play safe while he and Milo were doing all the hard work.

Gunner was making use of the metal needles in his hand to target the weak points of these ghouls and cripple them slowly. His metal needles were made from a unique metal that caused corrosion in the blood of ghouls.

These metal needles were already infused with powerful ethereal energy beforehand since infusing them on the spot would be time-consuming and not feasible.

However, once they were used by someone like Gunner, who knew how to target the weak points or a ghoul, they could even eventually subdue ghouls stronger than them.

But of course, it required considerable time, and Gunner would never survive on his own without the help of his team.

Milo, Lita, and Linda were supposed to keep the ghouls distracted while he continued to wear them down.

But now, only Milo was distracting them while Lita and Becca were playing it safe.

Because of this, one of the ghouls managed to break off since Lita left an opening. And this ghoul was heading straight for Jake's team, who were completely busy holding off the other two ghouls.

None of them had the luxury to deal with a third one, and if they became distracted now, then the two ghouls they were suppressing would escape as well.

"Lita, distract it!" Gunner shouted with an angry look upon seeing what happened because of Lita's cowardice. The ghoul was heading straight for Ana, who was busy charging her poison orb. She was too focused that she wouldn't be able to defend herself in time, and even if she did, how could she possibly have the strength to deal with this ghoul alone?

Despite Gunner's order to stop it, Lita didn't dare to draw the aggression of that ghoul toward her. If that thing focuses on Ana, she and her team will get more time to deal with the fourth ghoul and maybe even kill it off by the time Ana dies.

Gunner only realized too late that Lita was planning to sacrifice Ana to survive at all costs. Even if her plan might work, he hated sacrificing one of his people through such lowly means.

Ana opened her eyes upon feeling a heavy pressure locking her body. Her expression turned horrified upon seeing one of the ghouls about to slash at her with a wild expression.

Berret had his eyes shaken upon seeing the ghoul getting near Ana, "Ana!!" He was about to leave everything and run towards her, but then he realized if he left, the metal shield around the two ghouls would come down, and the two ghouls inside might even kill his team.

He was in such a huge dilemma he didn't know what to do but watched helplessly.

"Growll!!"

Suddenly, a ferocious growl sounded from the side as a huge ethereal beast looking like a tigress stomped down on the ghoul that was about to attack Ana.

Before the ghoul could even flail his limbs, Valentina crushed his head into a bloody paste without even putting much effort.

Gunner and Jake's team had their eyes widened at what they were seeing. Where did this terrifying ethereal beast come from, and why did it look so otherworldly?

Before they could even process their thoughts, they saw this ethereal beast, not feeling satisfied with just one kill, and proceeded to tear off the head of the ghoul Milo and Gunner were trying to kill.

Everyone had their jaws slack upon seeing how easily this beast got rid of the ghouls that were giving them a tough time.

Since Jake's team was distracted, the two ghouls they had trapped barged out. But before they could even attack anyone, the ruby red gem on Valentina's forehead shone, and the ghouls exploded the next moment as their blood splashed everywhere.
