Chapter 790: Reason? Does That Matter?
Chapter 790: Reason? Does That Matter?
"You don't get to talk like that to my sister," Valentina said as she grabbed his collar and pushed him till his back was up against the wall.
Gon was startled and became angry that he was getting manhandled and tried to get her hands off him, "You dare touch me? Do you have any idea who I am? Just one word from me, and I can have you off duty for months!" Still, he was caught off guard by her bewitching beauty. But the viciousness in her blood-red eyes only sent chills down his spine.
"I don't care. You will answer her question, or you won't get out of here. Now, which will it be?" Valentina asked as she began to apply more pressure on his chest, making him feel like she might crush his ribs if she pressed on.
"H-Hey, easy…" Linda was annoyed by Gon's attitude as well, but she didn't expect Valentina to actually corner him like this. Was it because she had yet to understand the rules around here, or did she really not care?
"Valentina, it's fine. You can let go of him. I don't want you getting in trouble because of someone like him," Lily mentally said to Valentina.
"No, Lily. He will tell you what you need to know. Watch," Valentina said as her hand formed a claw shape, making Gon feel like she might tear out his heart.
"Okay, okay! I will tell…." Gon said with a grimace as he couldn't dare to risk it any longer. This beautiful woman seemed quite crazy, and he wasn't ready to dance with death again.
"You don't have to now. I already got information that you purposefully abandoned your people to save yourself. Isn't that what you did?" Lily asked as she just got information from Reva that the people of this station weren't even given a chance to enter the bunker.
Apparently, Gon had locked off the underground floor after getting in so that he could have all the resources in the bunker to himself just in case he was going to be trapped for months.
"So? I am the Station Master of this station. I have been protecting and looking after these people for years. It is only right that they repay by sacrificing for me. For the sake of humanity, it's better they die rather than me. But you all don't need to know that. Which station are you all from? Once I speak to your Station Master, we will see," Gon said with a snort as he patted his suit with a disgruntled look. He can't believe he was forced to explain himself.
But suddenly, a fist closed in on his face, "Ugh!" Gon felt his head spinning as he crashed onto the wall behind his back.
"Scum…" Linda mumbled with a disgusted look. She tried to resist punching him, but in the end, she felt like she had to.
Lily sighed, feeling bad for the people who died in vain here. Even if not all, almost all of them could have lived if only their Station Master wasn't so selfish. Thinking about how horribly they died in the hands of those monsters, she felt her chest ache.
"Forget it. There is no point in talking to him. We will just bring him back as instructed," Lily said with a helpless shake of her head as the other two nodded.

Not too long after, all twelve of them, along with a disgruntled Gon, had reached the Blackthorn Station.
"You people were from Kena's station?" Gon mumbled with a gulp, making Linda harden her voice and say, "It's Station Master Kena. Just because you are one doesn't mean you get to address her casually."
Gon was about to say something, but then he swallowed his words as things weren't going as he expected.
In the Station Master's tower, Kena smiled subtly upon seeing these twelve enter the meeting room, "Impressive. You all have exceeded my expectations. I never thought this mission would be completed by you all so fast."
Gunner and the others saluted her as they said, "Leader, the main reason we are alive is because of Valentina. Otherwise…" Gunner didn't have to finish for Kena to realize that this beautiful woman with rosy pink hair must have saved the lives of the others somehow.
Thinking about it, she also wasn't wearing her suit, making Kena wonder if she took it off or it got destroyed?
Alex came in through the door as well. She had come here after hearing their return, and with a glint of astonishment in her eyes, she stood to the side.
"Enough! As the Station Master, you should punish all of them, especially these three women, for insubordination. They not only disrespected me by manhandling me but refused to listen to my orders. As a fellow Station Master, I am disappointed to see that you can't keep your soldiers in check," Gon said as he threw his helmet off.
Alex clenched her fists but hearing Kena's voice in her head, she continued to remain still.
Kena's expression didn't change as she crossed her arms and walked over, "Really? They bullied you? For what reason?"
Gon had a displeased look, "Reason? Does that fucking matter? All that matters is they lay a hand on me."
Linda coldly snorted from the side, hearing his accusations.
"The reason fucking matters. But since you know, then I am sure there is nothing to cry about here. Alex, show him to his waiting room till the men from HQ come to pick him up," Kena said as she walked back to her chair, making Gon clench his jaw in annoyance.
"Come with me," Alex said with an inexpressive look as she gestured with her hand.
"You…you…" Gon wanted to vent but realizing that their Station Master was fully supporting him, he had no choice but to give up and silently follow Alex with a black face.
"I apologize, leader. If it were not for my questioning, they—"
"Relax, Lily. I am not angry at all. In fact, he was let off easy considering what he did," Kena said with a light smile.
"But are we really going to let him go like that? After what he did?" Reva asked with a narrowed gaze. She believed that someone like him deserved death a thousand times.
"But what can we do…He is a Station Master, after all, and only the HQ can decide his fate. Apparently, they need him, so he probably wouldn't face any punishment for his actions. That is the harsh fact," Kena said with a disappointed sigh.
Reva and her sisters were glad to see that their leader was so understanding. This made them admire her even more. However, they were also disappointed knowing that Gon would get off scot-free despite what he did. They realized one thing common with their world was that those with influence or power still had the ability to make things work as they wanted to.
"But let's not let that issue distract us from moving forward. Since you all completed your mission spectacularly, the rewards would be distributed accordingly, and Valentina would be receiving a little extra bonus," Kena said with a look of appreciation.
