Chapter 97
Chapter 97
Although their relationship had already been made public, both had their own schedules, and it wasn’t possible for them to be together every day. Compared to other couples in the entertainment industry who were often apart, they considered themselves lucky.
Zhuo Zhiwei was quickly sent off to shoot a web drama in seclusion, while He Qingqi still had classes at school, so she had to stay in City B. Reluctantly biting on a small handkerchief, she watched as Zhuo Zhiwei left to earn money.
As she gazed into Zhuo Zhiwei’s tender, almost overwhelming eyes, there was a moment when she truly wanted to follow her. But then, she realized that occasional separation was inevitable. Even for lovers, it wasn’t feasible to be together all the time. The impulse gradually faded, and she sighed softly.
Of course, despite this realization, He Qingqi still missed Zhuo Zhiwei dearly.
During this time, He Qingqi was also incredibly busy, barely touching the ground with all her engagements. She took on several endorsement deals, appeared as a guest on variety shows, and even occasionally livestreamed with Tao Jinghan, who stayed in the dormitory.
Ever since He Qingqi wore the “Little Lion” headband at a book signing event, a nickname that had once only circulated among couple-shippers began to spread widely. Even her solo fans found it endearing, with some even gifting her a little lion hat.
One day, during a livestream, He Qingqi was sticking out her tongue halfway, sitting cross-legged and fiddling with the little hat with great interest. Tao Jinghan glanced at her from the side, a few black lines appearing on her forehead.
“…Qingqi, the livestream has started.”
He Qingqi looked up, stopped what she was doing, blinked her large eyes innocently, and obediently responded, “Oh.”
“Hello, everyone.”
In an instant, her fans’ hearts were struck, showing expressions of adoration.
“Ahhh!! She’s so cute! She really is a little lion!”
“Too cute, thank you.”
“Sweetie, put the hat on for Mama to see!”
Tao Jinghan: “…”
Such a master of cuteness.
That night, she had heard everything loud and clear—how Zhuo Zhiwei had been “bullied” by He Qingqi…
But, well, it was none of her business; just their private bedroom fun.
Tao Jinghan sighed softly. She suddenly felt a bit envious but helplessly turned her head, with a hint of warmth in her eyes, giving up on trying to get He Qingqi to behave professionally. She glanced at the comments with gentle eyes and began answering fans’ questions.
“Hanhan is too indulgent!” One fan was clearly a fan of the Qinghan couple but didn’t dare to say anything more.
“Hanhan, do you have a better relationship with Qingqi or with Zhiwei?”
Tao Jinghan’s eyes widened slightly at the comment, her finger hovering over it, and she playfully furrowed her brows. “Oh, you little fan… Are you trying to stir up trouble?”
Just as she finished speaking, a straightforward fan chimed in, “Hanhan, you’re overthinking it. No one cares who you’re closer to. What we care about is how close those two are!”
As if something had been exposed.
Tao Jinghan pouted and was about to say something when the sound of a doorknob turning interrupted her. Accompanied by the soft noise of a lock being opened.
Who could it be?
He Qingqi looked up in boredom, still playing with the little hat in her hands. It couldn’t possibly be her Zhiwei; she had just asked Zhuo Zhiwei, who said her flight was delayed and she’d be back later.
Under He Qingqi’s gaze, the door slowly opened. The dim light from the corridor streamed through the open door, not too bright, but enough to dazzle He Qingqi’s face. Because the person stepping out of the shadows was Zhuo Zhiwei.
“Zhiwei!” He Qingqi’s eyes immediately sparkled, like fireworks bursting in the night sky—red, purple, blue—all flashing in her gaze.
“You’re back!” She stood up in a flash, tossing aside the beloved little hat, and ran to Zhuo Zhiwei in a few quick steps. She grabbed her luggage from Lin Xi, who had been following behind.
“I missed you so much!” She then asked in surprise, “Weren’t you delayed? How are you here so soon?”
Zhuo Zhiwei still had her usual calm demeanor, but the slight curve of her lips and her light footsteps clearly betrayed her joy. She normally exuded the aura of an untouchable goddess, but the moment she saw He Qingqi, she seemed to fall from the heavens.
Feigning a stern expression, Zhuo Zhiwei asked, “What? Not happy to see me?”
Lin Xi, watching the scene unfold, helplessly covered her face. No dignity at all.
“No,” He Qingqi quickly denied. “I’m just surprised.”
Zhuo Zhiwei, still in her high heels, stood a bit taller than He Qingqi, her chin slightly raised in a haughty manner. She was just short of letting out a cat-like “hmph.”
And then, as if to follow through, she let out a low “hmph” from her nose.
It sounded like she was holding a small grudge.
He Qingqi couldn’t help but burst out laughing, her starry eyes twinkling as she looked at her. How could her Zhiwei be so adorable?
Zhuo Zhiwei’s face reddened slightly, exposing the expression she reserved only for when they were alone, her lips pouting slightly. “What are you laughing at!”
Tao Jinghan, quick to react, immediately blocked the camera, raising her voice in case the two said anything inappropriate. “A little surprise—Zhiwei suddenly came back! Say hello to everyone, Zhiwei.”
Zhuo Zhiwei was momentarily stunned but soon realized they were still livestreaming. Tao Jinghan turned and warmly greeted her, “Welcome back, Zhiwei.”
Zhuo Zhiwei’s expression turned slightly colder, the warmth in her eyes fading as she returned to her composed and rational self. Pressing her lips together, she tried to appear kinder, “Yes, I’m back.”
“Hello, everyone.” She faced the camera, her demeanor serious.
Sensing her restraint, Tao Jinghan’s teeth ached from the sweetness, and she couldn’t help but pout.
Am I not good enough for you? Double standards at their finest, she thought, stealing a glance at He Qingqi—both of them were the same.
Dragging the luggage into the room, He Qingqi casually asked Lin Xi, “Sister Xi, how long will Zhiwei stay this time? My finals are almost over. Can we schedule something for both of us next time?”
Though she appeared calm, her heart was pounding with anxiety and a hint of fear. After all, Lin Xi now knew about their relationship, and she was a practical person who might separate them for the sake of the team.
To her surprise, Lin Xi simply nodded, “Sure.”
“Sure”? So, that meant she agreed.
He Qingqi’s eyes lit up immediately, eagerly seeking Zhuo Zhiwei’s captivating gaze.
Zhuo Zhiwei’s calm eyes rippled slightly as she gazed back, her gentleness almost overwhelming.
He Qingqi’s heart fluttered in response, but she quickly shifted her gaze, feigning indifference as she fixed her eyes on Lin Xi.
So, she was the third wheel now. Lin Xi was momentarily stunned but then chuckled helplessly. They hadn’t even crossed the bridge yet, and she was already dismantling it.
After a few seconds, Lin Xi stopped at the dorm room entrance, swung her arms, and sighed. “I won’t come in. I’m tired today, so I’m heading home to rest.”
With that, she turned away. “Qingqi, make sure to help tidy up.”
“No problem!” He Qingqi grinned brightly, winking mischievously at Zhuo Zhiwei, slightly bending her elbow as she tilted her head, giving a playful nod. “Let’s go.”
Zhuo Zhiwei indulged her with a fond smile, her gaze lingering as if memorizing every detail of He Qingqi’s face and lips. God knew how much she missed her—her dreams were filled with this mischievous smile… Finally, the corners of her lips curved into a faint smile, and she stepped forward to link her arm with He Qingqi’s.
He Qingqi swallowed, suppressing the rush of emotions, listening to her own unusually rapid heartbeat. Her limbs felt disconnected from her body as she mechanically walked into the room and gently closed the door behind them.
Once they were shut off from the outside world, He Qingqi could no longer restrain her desire for Zhuo Zhiwei.
Before Zhuo Zhiwei could react, she was pressed against the door.
What followed was the unmistakable sound of heavy breathing in her ear, and then she was engulfed in a burning kiss. The person blocked her slightly parted lips, their wet tongue dominantly sliding in, mingling with hers. There was a faint taste of sweetness, and in a daze, Zhuo Zhiwei realized it must be He Qingqi’s favorite brand.
She had tasted it before too, but it was too sweet, just like this person in front of her… She could hardly bear it.
Zhuo Zhiwei weakly hooked her arms around He Qingqi’s neck, gasping for breath. Despite having kissed many times, she still hadn’t quite mastered how to breathe duringkissing. He Qingqi, sensing her struggle, kindly released her lips, her fingers trailing down Zhuo Zhiwei’s back, her voice tinged with urgency, “Zhiwei, I missed you so much.”
Zhuo Zhiwei panted softly, her head slightly tilted back, her hands unconsciously squeezing He Qingqi’s waist. “Missed me… missed what about me?”
“Missed everything about you.” He Qingqi replied, her tongue lightly grazing Zhuo Zhiwei’s neck. “I missed your eyes, your nose…” Her hand teasingly brushed against the small bone at Zhuo Zhiwei’s throat. “And this little cutie.”
Burying her face in Zhuo Zhiwei’s neck, He Qingqi took a deep breath, inhaling the familiar fresh woodsy scent on her body. A sudden wave of peace washed over her, filling her chest with warmth.
After a long pause, He Qingqi’s throat moved, and she let out a sigh from the bottom of her heart, “I wish I could never be apart from you.”
Zhuo Zhiwei couldn’t help but chuckle softly. Her hand rested on He Qingqi’s head, gently playing with her hair, slowly threading her fingers in and out. Her voice was slow and laced with amusement, “Forever? You won’t get tired of me?”
“How could I!” He Qingqi raised her head, her black hair falling in elegant arcs around her neck. Her amber eyes sparkled with eagerness, as if desperate to prove something. “I love you, Zhiwei. I’ll always love you. You’re the dream I once missed, the one I’ve finally touched.”
“Then…” Zhuo Zhiwei’s gaze lingered on He Qingqi’s lips, still moist and carrying the traces of their kiss. She reached out with her fingers, brushing them lightly over He Qingqi’s lips, her eyes darkening. “If both I and that dream stood before you, who would you choose?”
“Huh?” He Qingqi was momentarily baffled, her eager expression faltering as she tried to process the question.
Seeing her reaction, Zhuo Zhiwei couldn’t help but smile, her eyes twinkling as she teased, “Just joking.”
Surely, she wouldn’t be jealous of her own dream… Well, she admitted to herself, maybe just a tiny bit, but only a little.
He Qingqi blinked her eyes, then without warning, caught Zhuo Zhiwei’s finger between her lips, gently sucking from the base to the tip, her tongue swirling lightly as she maintained eye contact. She watched for any changes in Zhuo Zhiwei’s expression and, seeing no immediate discomfort, finally let out a breath of relief.
Zhuo Zhiwei, caught off guard by the sensation, felt her entire body soften. Her cheeks flushed with a deep pink, and she couldn’t help but exchange several glances with He Qingqi, her face growing even redder. It was as if the air was thick with the scent of alcohol, turning everything around them a hazy, intoxicating shade of pink.
Noticing Zhuo Zhiwei’s reaction, He Qingqi smiled in satisfaction, but then suddenly remembered the question Zhuo Zhiwei had asked earlier.
Her expression shifted, and with a hint of wariness, she quickly asked, “Wait a second, Zhiwei, does that mean you’d get tired of me? If I stuck with you all day?”
Her gaze held a trace of vulnerability, as if she was half-joking but also seeking reassurance.
Zhuo Zhiwei’s eyes gradually cleared, her smile flickering as she observed He Qingqi’s expression—how it shifted from hopeful to anxious, her eyes glistening with a thin layer of moisture. Even though she knew He Qingqi was playing up the “pitiful” act, her heart couldn’t help but soften.
“Never,” Zhuo Zhiwei whispered, leaning into He Qingqi’s embrace. Her damp phone pressed lightly against He Qingqi’s clothes as she tilted her head, nibbling playfully on her chin. “I want to stay with you forever too.”
“Qingqi, I love you,” she murmured softly.
