Chapter 26 – Usual
I gave the letter from the God of Light-sama and the others to Claretta-san, Carla-san, and Felicia. Carla-san got a gourmet report-style letter from the God of Gastronomy-sama, and she is happy to actually eat the food, but the other two are… Well, as expected, they are so moved that they are in tears.
Two beautiful women with tears in their eyes… I thought the same about Her Majesty Queen Adelheid, but their faith in God is amazing.
It seems bizarre to modern Japanese, who are not so deeply involved in religion, but I guess it is normal in this world where people can actually feel God’s presence close to them.
It would not be surprising if I had awakened a strong sense of faith since I had actually met God, but that did not happen because when I first met Creator God-sama, I was awakened more by suspicion than by faith because of the difference between him and the images of God in the lower realms.
If I had met the God of Light-sama first, I would at least have gone to church more often.
“So, may I ask what was written?”
I ask after Claretta-san and Felicia have calmed down.
It seems distasteful to ask about the contents of the letter, but my curiosity is piqued when they are so moved.
“Of course! Listen to me, Wataru-san!”
My tingling curiosity is extinguished by Claretta-san’s strong gaze.
Those eyes are the eyes of a hardcore fanatic when she gets a chance to talk about her hobbies at full throttle. I seem to have stepped on a landmine.
“First of all, the God of Light-sama praised me for my daily, humble faith!”
Do you mean she praised you for cleaning the church and praying frequently?
But it makes you happy to know that God knows about your daily efforts.
“Next, she also praised our activities as adventurers! They say that what we do in Girasole is a balanced action that helps people’s lives and doesn’t cause unnecessary destruction!”
…I don’t understand much about adventurers since the only thing I remember fighting properly was the Horned Rabbit, but did she praise them for defeating dangerous monsters and not doing anything reckless?
“And she told me that working with Wataru-san was in accordance with God’s will. I will continue to do my best to help Wataru-san!”
Oh, that makes me happy. Maybe she knows I’ll be in trouble if everyone at Girasole is gone, so she’s just paying lip service. Thank you, God of Light-sama.
…Claretta-san’s excitement continues, and now that she has strayed from the content of the letter and is talking about the greatness and splendor of the God of Light-sama, all I can do is nod my head.
When I heard the content of God of Light-sama’s letter from Claretta-san, all I could think was, “It’s just the usual stuff, isn’t it?”
Instead of God praising the followers as God, it seems to me that the content of the letter is very ordinary, like a school teacher praising the students on a report card.
It’s just like a grade school report card, like, “You’re great because you work hard every day,” or something like that.
…Oh, is that normal enough?
You know, when I talked to God of Light-sama and the others, they said that they would warn me not to let Claretta-san go to a deeper faith.
This is the kind of reaction I get even from a letter with content like a notification sheet, and if God of Light-sama had written to ask her to devote herself to faith, there’s definitely a danger that Claretta-san might seriously drop everything and live only by faith.
Good work, God of Light-sama. Thank you for warning me when I tried to get Claretta-san to meet you.
“So, Wataru…”
“What is it?”
Claretta-san’s appearance changed. The honorific was removed, and she seemed to have cooled down while we were talking.
I don’t know why her cheeks are flushed, and she’s fidgeting, but…
Is it possible that because God of Light-sama praised her for cooperating with me, she is planning to increase the level of cooperation even more and offer her body and soul to cooperate with me? If so, I would welcome it!
“This letter I received from the God of Light-sama came from Wataru-san’s ship, didn’t it?”
“Yes, that’s right, but…?”
Then what is it?
“How can I keep it without the slightest deterioration? This letter is my, no, humanity’s treasure!”
You wanted to ask me how to preserve paper that does not exist in this world. I doubt there was any need to be shy, but you’re not wrong to ask me how.
I put documents in a transparent case or something like that to preserve them, but if you want to keep them from deteriorating even a little bit, it’s hard to do that with a transparent case, isn’t it?
I have heard that Japanese paper and ink can last more than 1,000 years, but they will deteriorate…
“I think it’s hard to prevent deterioration even if you preserve them carefully. Wouldn’t it be best to use my Ship Summoning to store them or to use state preservation magic like the ones sometimes found in the heritage of ancient civilizations?”
I remember hearing that the reason magic ships can still be used today is because of the state preservation magic applied to them.
“Ugh… the state preservation magic has already been lost. I would like to make an altar in my room to celebrate this, but it would be best to have Wataru-san take care of it, right? Dedicating it to the church would cause an uproar, and…”
Claretta-san seems to have sunk into a sea of thoughts.
The word “altar” in this room is a bit tricky, but I’ll let her do what she wants.
“Ah, what did Felicia’s letter say?”
“It contained the details of how she always watches over the dark elves, the importance of serving the Master, her concern for our brethren who are in a difficult situation, her apologies for not being able to help them, and her joy at the development of the Dark Elf Island.”
Felicia gave me a brief summary of her letter. After all those tears of emotion, she suddenly became very calm.
Perhaps sensing my doubt, Felicia looked at Claretta-san and smiled bitterly. I see; she must have cooled down after seeing Claretta-san’s outburst.
“Master. Could you please take care of the letter from the Goddess of the Forest-sama?”
“Yes. That’s fine, but don’t you want to show it to the people on the Dark Elf Island?”
The Goddess of the Forest-sama didn’t ask for it to be a secret, and if it’s about all the dark elves, I think she’d be happy to let people see it.
Sure, there are a lot of secrets, but since the dark elves are isolated on the island, and I’m going to invite them to the Chris, I think it would be more beneficial from a morale standpoint to make it public than to keep it a secret.
After all, they will know that the Goddess of the Forest-sama, whom the dark elves worship, is watching over them with proof. I’m sure everyone’s motivation will be at its peak.
“I would like to publish the letter when everyone on the island comes to the Chris. At that time I will take a photograph of the letter. After that, I will give the letter back to Master, and I will place the photo on the altar on Dark Elf Island.”
Ah, so both Claretta-san and Felicia are thinking of offering it on the altar.
I can understand a thankful stone tablet with God’s words written on it, but what about worshipping everyday writings? A letter from the God of Gastronomy-sama is a gourmet’s report, you know?
“Photographs! I hadn’t thought of that! That would allow me to feel the mercy of the God of Light-sama close at hand while Wataru takes care of the letters from the God of Light-sama. Felicia, that is a wonderful idea!”
It’s hard to understand the story, but I think seeing two beautiful women having fun while holding hands is wonderful.
But please don’t use strong words like ‘God’s mercy’ or anything like that because it scares me.
“Um, what about Carla’s letter?”
I call out to Carla-san, who is staring ruefully at the plate of food she has just finished eating.
“Hmm. Wataru is taking care of it.”
“I understand.”
Carla-san’s reaction is indifferent. It seems that the level of faith varies from person to person, just like on Earth.
“I can’t stay like this. First of all, a digital camera? I have to buy one. I have to find the best one! Wataru, please give me some advice. No, I had to say a prayer of gratitude at church first! Wataru, please excuse me.”
“You can go too, Felicia.”
“Thank you.”
I said goodbye to Claretta-san, who was running out of the room, and gave permission to Felicia, who was looking at Claretta-san with a bit of envy. And Felicia also left the room at a fast pace.
“…Do you think they’ll be okay?”
I was a bit worried and called Carla-san, who was left behind. I know this isn’t normal, at least not in the usual sense of the word, because there’s no way Claretta-san would have forgotten Carla-san.
“Maybe she won’t come out of church today.”
Will Felicia not come out, either? Four days with God of Light-sama and the others, and another four days entertaining Creator God-sama and the gods. I’m a little sad that I won’t see Felicia after eight days of being away.
“…I see. …Shall we meet with Alessia-san and the others and Ines for now?”
“Yes.”
I’m sad, but it’s hard to stop because they know that their prayers really reach the gods.
After we meet them, let’s have a lot of fun with Rimu and Pent because it’s been a while. So in the evening, soaking in love with Ines…

“God of light. I think that was a little overstimulating.”
“I guess that’s a normal reaction when you receive a letter from a God you believe in. But your letter, God of Gastronomy, is more subtle. Why are you in the form of exchanging gourmet reports with the people of the lower realms? I am concerned about your dignity as a God.”
“It’s not like I’m giving out oracles, so that’s about right.”
“My child was relatively calm.
“Isn’t it just that the children of believers of the Goddess of the Forest have trouble expressing their emotions? Oh, God of Light, may I ask you something?”
“What is it?”
“When you saw Creator God-sama, didn’t your light disappear in an instant?”
“Yes, it disappeared.”
“Did it disappear by itself, or did the God of Light do it by will?”
“I thought it would be troublesome if he saw it…”
