Chapter 4 – What Happened?
On my way to meet the ancient earth dragon to take care of the task from the Creator God-sama, I stopped at a desert fortress city and bought some dancer’s clothes. Then the ladies, who understood my unconfessed desires, put on the dancer’s clothes and gave a fascinating dance show on the stage of a luxury liner. It’s too much happiness, and it’s frightening.
“I was careless.”
I really was careless. The women’s mesmerizing dance show may have further degenerated my already somewhat peaceful brain.
“Well… what are we going to do, Wataru?”
“Even if you ask me what to do, I guess we have no choice but to go and ask. I’m sorry, but let’s go back to the Chateau.”
I apologize to the confused Alessia-san and the others and move the Lutto. My destination is the church attached to the Chateau.
While enjoying the afterglow of the dance show, the peaceful journey continues on the Chateau to the island where the ancient earth dragon lives.
It’s undeniable that I wanted to distract myself from the troubles ahead.
As a result, when we arrived on the island, prepared our equipment, and were about to leave, we were prevented from entering by the barrier that had been erected on the dragon island.
I had completely forgotten about the barrier. To be honest, I’m very embarrassed.
I had thought of various countermeasures, such as how to restore the ancient earth dragon’s good mood or what words not to say to the distressed dragon, but this was a problem beyond that.
But there’s nothing I can do about it. If I could make an excuse, it would be that I am a messenger of Creator God-sama, so shouldn’t I be able to pass through the barrier, or shouldn’t Creator God-sama be able to allow me to pass through?
I don’t have a way to contact him to make an appointment, so I need Creator God-sama to follow up on this.
…Well, it’s very likely that Creator God-sama has forgotten about the existence of the barrier, so it would be useless to expect him to look into it.
Ines, Felicia, and Alessia-san, who are walking behind me, also seem to be in a bad mood.
It’s no wonder they’re feeling so down after having their adventure cut short in such an embarrassing way.
“I’m sorry. Could you wait here for a moment?”
I leave Rimu with Felicia and ask her not to look at me as I go into the church alone.
I kneel down in front of the statue, which has somehow been replaced with a statue of Creator God-sama since I bought the castle, and pray.
“Hey, Wataru-kun, what a disaster.”
I hear the voice of Creator God-sama above me. The words seem to take our situation into account, but the half-smiling voice ruins everything.
He must have watched as we prepared to enter the dragon island, but then we were stopped by the barrier and had to retreat in defeat.
I want to punch him.
But I calmed down and stood up anyway because it’s Creator God-sama.
“Creator God-sama… You knew about the barrier, didn’t you? Isn’t that a little tasteless?”
Well, I know that Creator God-sama’s personality is twisted, but I have to say that it doesn’t feel good to be made fun of.
“Well, I knew about the barrier, and I wanted to follow up on it.”
“But you didn’t, did you?”
“That’s your fault, Wataru-kun.”
Oh, come on, you’re blaming me for that? It’s not like I’m completely blameless. No, I admit that it’s also my fault that I forgot since I’ve touched the barrier before.
But I had no countermeasures, and Creator God-sama knew that I had no countermeasures, so I think the responsibility is fifty-fifty.
“I understand how you feel, Wataru-san, and of course, there are parts of the situation that are my fault and parts that are the fault of Creator God-sama, who was also present. But what Creator God-sama says is not wrong either.”
God of Light-sama joins the conversation with a troubled expression. Even the God of Light-sama, with a troubled expression, is beautiful. And the God of Light-sama does not favor the Creator God-sama.
Rather, it is a God who cares about me, who is in a weak position, so maybe there are some things about me that are wrong, as Creator God-sama says.
I should calmly listen to what they have to say.
“What is going on?”
“Yes, I had prepared a way to get through the barrier. But when you came to negotiate the reward, and then you wasted time worrying and worrying, and then you tried to get the God of Light to dress up as a dancer, things got so confusing that I ran out of time and sent you back to the lower world. It’s true, though, that I forgot about the barrier at the end.”
…Wait, I can’t help but feel that I know what’s going on here.
I remember that it took a long time to get the reward I wanted, and I also remember that I asked the God of Light-sama to dance in a dancer’s costume.
“If you had prayed at the church at least once before you reached the ancient earth dragon island, I would have made a new deal with you. I know you’re not in the habit of praying to God, but since I gave you the ability, I think it would be okay if you prayed a little more.”
“…I apologize.”
I bowed deeply.
For a moment, I thought about getting down on my knees, but then I thought that Creator God-sama was also to blame for about 10% of it, so I stopped myself. But I was responsible for about 90% of it, so I apologized from the bottom of my heart.
“It was kind of funny, so I’ll forgive you. From now on, even if you don’t have a goal, you should pray once in a while.”
“I can’t promise that, but thank you for forgiving me.
I am grateful for the ability, but the reason I don’t pray often is because Creator God-sama likes to force troublesome things on me.
Even if he didn’t force trouble on me, he would definitely tell me that he wants to go on a luxury liner or do something interesting.
If I could just see the goddesses, I would pray every morning, noon, and night, but as it is, I can’t avoid the Creator God-sama, so I’m afraid I’ll only continue to pray when I have a specific purpose.
“No, let’s promise that.”
“No, that’s impossible. Then please tell me how to get through the barrier.”
Because it’s impossible.
***
There was a little struggle about whether to pray or not, but then God of Light-sama said that we were running out of time again, so I was able to return without making a firm promise to pray.
The means of the Creator God-sama spoke of exists in the form of a bracelet on my right hand.
I’m not really sure, but it seems to be something that Creator God-sama has solidified, limiting his power to open barriers.
I was excited to have received such a powerful item, but I was disappointed when I was told that it was just a concentrated form of divine power and that it would return to Creator God-sama in about a month without me doing anything.
I asked if it could be made into a divine treasure, but I was told that it would have too much effect, so it was denied.
It looks like I won’t have a chance to use it, but it’s a shame that I didn’t get an item that would tickle my Chuunibyou heart by being able to open any kind of barrier.
By the way, I was warned not to use it on a Ship Summoning barrier because it would open, but the power would be consumed intensely.
Even the strongest Ship Summoning barrier apparently can’t withstand the power of Creator God-sama. But even so, it’s amazing that it would consume so much power.
So, I guess I can be sure that Creator God-sama is no ordinary deity.
As I left the church, deep in thought, the eyes of Ines, Felicia, and Alessia-san were all on me.
“I have received a means to safely cross the barrier.”
I caught Rimu, who had jumped up and reported to everyone.
“That’s great. Then let’s go. Let’s start again!”
At Alessia-san’s command, the mission began this time. Everyone felt a sense of futility at the word “fresh start,” but let’s not mention it.
We boarded the Lutto again and approached the island of the ancient earth dragon.
“Well, I think it should be enough just to get this close to the barrier… Oh!”
When I brought the bracelet on my right arm, which was a manifestation of the divine power of Creator God-sama, close to the barrier, the barrier, which had been firmly rejecting our intrusion, seemed to slightly resist and waver.
Gradually, the wavering of the barrier became more intense, and it turned into a fine vibrating movement. Still, the barrier didn’t open, probably because the dragon’s barrier was resisting.
“Um, Ilma, it’s too close.”
Ilma-san brings her face close to my right arm as if to ask if she can really see it and observes the bracelet intently.
It would be unnatural if Ilma-san wasn’t interested, but that doesn’t mean I want her to stop looking at it so closely that I can feel her breath.
“It’s amazing, Wataru. Even when I look at it right in front of me, I have no idea what’s going on.”
Ilma-san is very excited. It seems like she can hear me, but she doesn’t seem to pay any attention to what I’m saying.
When I finally give up and focus on the barrier, it finally seems to run out of power and disappears as if it’s melting.
When the area around the door, which was about the size of a large door, disappeared, the vibrations of the dragon barrier also subsided.
It seems that the effect of the bracelet is not to destroy the entire barrier but to create a hole in it.
“I’m going in for now.”
“Wait, Master. I’ll go first.”
When I tried to jump from the Lutto to the island, Ines stopped me. I thought the barrier would allow me to see what’s ahead so I would be safe, but it’s true that it would be wrong for me to go first.
I’m the least experienced in dealing with crisis situations, and if I die, won’t everyone else be stranded on the island?
I don’t know what will happen to the summoned ship if I die. I’ll ask the Creator God-sama next time.
Anyway, I need to be protected for the sake of my companions. I’ll remember that.
The women, except Felicia, jump over, then I jump over, and finally, Felicia crosses over to the island. Then, I am led to the center of the group. It’s like I’m a princess.
“I am pretty sure that the light we saw at night was in the direction of the mountain in the middle. I don’t feel any danger right now, but just in case, let’s send out a scout. Marina, please.”
At Alessia-san’s request, Marina-san goes on a scouting mission.
It’s probably a wise decision since it’s an island where the ancient earth dragon lives, which has been blocked by a barrier for a long time.
“I’m back.”
After waiting for about two hours, Marina-san returned. I was worried because she hadn’t come back for a long time, so I was relieved when she returned safely.
“Welcome back, Marina. It took you much longer than usual, but what happened?”
Alessia-san asks the question on behalf of everyone’s doubts.
Fuu-chan, who is usually kept in her chest in case of danger, was wiggling above Marina-san’s head, and even though she shouldn’t have been in any danger, it was strange that it took so long.
“…..It was cute.”
Marina-san looks away from us and replies awkwardly.
Cute, you say…? What really happened?
