Chapter 1063: Recovering
Chapter 1063: Recovering
The Overseer stood in front of a silver wall on the eastern edge of Ayuvar. This was the place where the last survivors of the last purge had died.
She had just comprehended the Minor Law of Death. Finally, she had a way to escape from this world!
Yet, for just a moment, she hesitated.
Fierce Breaker's words and demeanor shot through her head.
Even though she had destroyed the entire world, Fierce Breaker had still seemed surprisingly calm. When she had comprehended the Minor Law of Death, she had assumed that he would show some signs of shock.
Instead, he had seemed quite calm. It was almost like he had expected it.
The desire to kill Fierce Breaker once more shot through the Overseer's existence, but she pushed it down. While she wanted to kill him, she wanted to see him despair even more. She was stronger and more experienced than him! There was no way that he could beat her with all of the advantages she had!
And yet, his confident demeanor still made her a bit nervous. She felt like she wasn't battling with a random Spirit Lord but with an equal.
She looked at the World Wall. 'I've come this far. I've resisted for so long. Now that I finally have a shot at freedom, I have to be especially careful. I've prepared for this moment for over a billion years. I can't mess this up now!'
She looked at her hand, and a black ball appeared on it.The attributes of False Death shot through her mind. 'This is just Energy mimicking Death. It has a corrosive and weakening effect on all other kinds of Energy. It can infect normal Energy and turn it into more of itself.'
'Nonetheless, it's still Energy. Reality works with Energy, and this is also just Energy. There are bound to be safeguards for this kind of Energy.'
The Overseer closed her eyes as she did something she hadn't done in an eternity.
She was trying to suppress her human self.
Despite everything, she was still a beast. Acting and thinking like a human came with a lot of advantages, but sometimes, being a beast proved more useful.
'I can't outthink the creator of this World Wall. Their power eclipses mine by a factor approaching infinity. Only humans have the mental capacity to understand the Law of Minor Death, which means only humans might try to destroy the world.'
'I need to think like a beast.'
The Overseer dispersed the black ball, and her hand moved forward to touch the World Wall.
Countless transformations and permutations of Energy washed over her senses. As a Supreme Existence herself, the Overseer could also feel the emotions of the World Wall's existence.
They were as beautiful as they were terrifying and complex. In a way, the World Wall felt like a gigantic Formation Array. Yet, even the most complex Formation Array the Overseer knew was like the spark in front of the World Wall's sun.
The Overseer remained in this position for thousands of years, simply experiencing the endless emotions.
She didn't understand any of them. Their complexity had not lowered even a single bit. She felt like an ant that was trying to understand and visualize the true size of the Supreme World.
No matter how hard she tried, it just seemed impossible.
Even after 20,000 years, she hadn't made any progress.
Yet, her conviction hadn't faltered in the slightest. She had known from the very beginning that she couldn't understand the World Wall's complexity.
That had never been her goal.
Finally, she opened her eyes. She didn't think of anything. She wasn't following any kind of plan.
She simply gathered some False Death and moved it forward. While she didn't understand the World Wall, her instincts had gotten somewhat familiar with it.
She simply did what her beast instincts told her to do and synchronized her False Death with some of the World Wall's emotions.
The False Death ent-
The Overseer jumped back, her right arm exploding into black mist.
For the first time in a long while, she breathed heavily as her eyes watched the World Wall in horror.
None of the False Death had touched it. Just when she had pushed it forward, her instincts had warned her of her imminent death. They told her that she would die if she went through with it!
She didn't know why it was dangerous. She didn't know what was dangerous. She didn't know what was safe.
But her instincts told her to stop, and she had done just that. The False Death had been so close to the World Wall that she could only stop it by ordering her arm to absorb it. This destroyed her arm and caused significant damage to her Energy, but it also stopped the False Death.
The Overseer had barely avoided death, and she needed a moment to calm down.
'This was too close,' she thought. 'I've only managed to survive due to luck. If the False Death had moved just a bit more erratically, I would have died.'
'I can't do it yet. I need to become more familiar with the World Wall. The warnings need to arrive sooner!'
'Inaction is acceptable as long as it prevents failure.'
'I need to prepare more.'
The Overseer took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
During that moment, she decided to peek at the world.
As expected, it had changed dramatically. Over the years, many Ascenders had appeared. Seeing such an empty and lifeless world, many of the Ascenders had gotten together to find a way to revitalize it. That was also in their own interest. After all, they needed a world full of life so that the Elemental Energies would flow in the Main Dimension. The livelier the world was, the more stable the Elemental Dimension would become and the more Law Wells there would be.
The Ascenders couldn't create artificial life, but they could do other things. For example, they could scatter natural treasures, which might multiply.
They could also gather all the Elements in a place and force them to interact with each other. This would put all of the ingredients for life in one place, and eventually, small specks of life would emerge. The vast majority of them would immediately die, but some would find a way to make more of themselves.
On Earth, life was seen as delicate. Any global catastrophe could destroy the flora and fauna. Yet, that was not true. Yes, a sufficiently powerful catastrophe would destroy 99% of all the life humans knew, but as long as the planet was still in one piece and had liquid water, life wouldn't vanish.
Some single-celled or multi-celled organisms would survive somewhere, and with enough time, they would spread. They would grow, adapt to their new surroundings, change, and eventually, thousands or millions of years later, the world would once again be filled with life.
In a Primary World, it was even more extreme. Cells were a concept that only existed on Earth and some Experimental Worlds. Here, everything worked with different forms of Energy. This removed many barriers and limits, allowing life to evolve even faster.
Plants and small animals had already returned to a big part of the world. It would still require a long time for life to spread through the entire world, but it had already started.
Additionally, several Ascenders had already found love, and with the incentive of revitalizing the world, they had already birthed countless children.
There were already over a billion humans in Ayuvar.
After glancing at the world for just a couple of seconds, the Overseer looked back at the World Wall.
She closed her eyes, and once again, she listened to the emotions of its existence.
