Chapter 1027: Becoming Aware; Earning Kill Points
Chapter 1027: Becoming Aware; Earning Kill Points
Growl!
Max hadn’t travelled even 500 meters when he heard a beastly growl from ahead. He glanced behind him and saw they had yet to come down, so he pushed his speed to the limits while making sure his footsteps weren’t making too much noise. He circled the area where the beast was, then came on the same route he was before.
A few moments later, he once again heard the beast growl along with the sound of something rushing toward him.
Max relaxed a bit because they would surely enter the beast’s territory and it would give him a few more moments of time to increase the distance between them.
However, right as this thought crossed his mind…
“Grrr!”
Thud!
A pained growl sounded from behind him along with the sound of a heavy object falling. He immediately knew the beast had been killed.
‘Was it a Tier 3 Beast?’ He thought and felt like a fool.
Suddenly, the thought of hiding somewhere and killing the ones lagging behind crossed his mind. Hiding would be easy because the visibility was extremely bad in the valley but then he looked behind him and saw a figure rushing toward him like a bullet train.
Since he was already locked onto, he dropped the idea and continued running.
‘Patriarch Mi…’ He thought and his expression became solemn. This man was the reason he had to flee inside the valley.
With his cultivation at the Fourth Layer of Bone Tempering, he wouldn’t be at a disadvantage against those in the Fifth Layer as long as he didn’t let them use their combat techniques.
Patriarch Mi, however, was at the Seventh Layer of Bone Tempering. Though he was rumored to have broken through just recently, he was way too strong for him.
‘This motherfucker… How did Song and Liu manage to invite someone like him?’ He thought, feeling the urge to curse.
Then his attention shifted to the Garfield Bloodline stirring in resistance within him, clearly not liking the fact that he was fleeing.
“Calm down, damn it!” He growled and pressed down on it with his will. His eyes lit up the next moment because it had significantly calmed down.
“Stop, boy. If you rouse some Late Tier 4 Beast, you would die without a doubt.” Suddenly Patriarch Mi, who was rapidly closing the distance between them shouted.
Max’s eyes flashed and he pushed his speed to the peak as he shouted back, “Wouldn’t I die even if I stop?”
“No, I won’t kill you as long as you tell me how you reached the Bone Tempering realm so quickly and hand over the Golden Book you got from that Nie family’s kid.”
Max’s pupils constricted when he heard this and his heart felt heavy.
He wouldn’t have reacted like this if Patriarch Mi was just after his secret because it was natural for everyone to covet it. However, the Golden Book… he shouldn’t even know—
Suddenly he remembered the three guys who were chasing Nie Haolong had claimed to be from the Mi family.
‘No wonder he knows about it.’ He immediately relaxed because this indicated that Patriarch Mi, unlike what he had just speculated, wasn’t the underling of the powers the system had told him had noticed him when he had inherited the [Imperial Sovereign Sutra].
After all, if those powers had people even in the lower city, they certainly had people in the middle and upper city and perhaps even the City Lord would be their person. If it was so, it would have been extremely difficult for him to survive. So it was a really good thing Patriarch Mi wasn’t related to them.
Growl!
Right then he heard a growl in his front-left. When he focused his gaze, he saw an around three-meter tall, horse-like beast slowly standing up, its predatory eyes fixed on him.
Though it had a horse’s body, its legs ended in large, gleaming claws and four wolf-like fangs were on its mouth.
‘What abomination is that?!’ He thought, aware that this type of beasts weren’t common.
Swoosh!
Right then, the beast rushed towards him.
Max tightened his grip on the saber. After suddenly becoming aware of the danger of those powers, he had already stopped thinking about taking it easy or letting Patriarch Mi and others get tangled with the beast so he could escape.
No, he was going to slay them, earn the Kill Points and hopefully become strong enough to face, if not kill, Patriarch Mi.
Behind him, Patriarch Mi also noticed the beast.
‘A Tier four beast.’ His eyes lit up and he relaxed, no longer rushing as fast as before.
However, the next moment, his expression froze because he saw Max directly rush up to the beast, narrowly dodge the claw strike that could have easily torn his jugular, and slice off the Horse-like beast’s neck in a single swing.
Thud!
The beast thudded to the ground, followed by its neck.
[You have killed an early-stage Tier 4 Dark Attributed Beast.]
[You have gained +400,000 Kill Points.]
‘This… is amazing!’ Max was caught off guard when he saw how many Kill Points he got. If he remembered correctly, killing an early stage Four Star mage or a demon usually only gave him around 40,000 to 50,000 Kill Points. But now, he got 400,000 by killing a beast of the similar realm.
Swoosh!
The moment he finished swinging the saber, he began rushing away once again. At the same time, he asked the system, “System, have you recovered?”
[No, host. The system is as it was before it went dormant.] answered the system and Max’s eyes flickered.
‘Indeed, this is happening because I’m within the Chaos Dream Realm. Also, its Dark Attribute must have something to do with it too.’ He thought, taking note of how the system mentioned its attribute.
Since the points, be it the Lust Points or the Kill Points, he was getting in this realm were inconsistent with the number he got back in the Magic World, he stopped comparing them.
…
Just a short bit later, he came across another horse-like beast but it was just over two meters tall.
Swoosh!
His eyes blazing, he rushed at it…
Shing~!
