Chapter 946: Exposed
Chapter 946: Exposed
After the disciplinary hall’s disciples took them away, Ivan muttered, a sinister, sadistic glint flashing in his eyes, “You want to play with me, huh little bastard? Too bad I’m not a retard like Isolde.”
Half an hour later…
Step! Step! Step!
Footsteps sounded in the hall and a white haired man, who looked no older than 25, appeared in front him. His posture was upright and a grim expression—that seemed strangely natural—was on his face.
“Young Lord.” The man greeted him.
Ivan looked at him for a moment, then raised his brows and said, “You look… excited, Elder Bismirch.”
“You’ll be excited too after you hear what I found out from that disciple.” Elder Bismirch, a notorious member of Grimheart Faction, said with a faint smile that seemed very eerie on his grim face.
“Oh?” Ivan sat up straight, “Tell me.”
“First let me apologize. During my investigation, that girl died. You shouldn’t have whipped her so much.” Elder Bismirch sighed, shaking his head in pity.
Ivan’s eyelids twitched. ‘You are blaming me for her death after killing her?’
“It’s alright. I’ll deal with the repercussions. Now, go on and tell me what you find out.” said Ivan impatiently.
“Okay,” nodded Elder Bismirch and revealed, his eyes glinting, “I found a strange energy in her body. It was extremely faint, even I had to utilize my secret techniques before I was able to notice it. Due to this, unfortunately, I couldn’t really find out its properties.”
Ivan’s brows furrowed. “Did you not say you found out something?”
Elder Bismirch gave him an odd look, “If you let me finish, I will.”
“Hng.” Ivan snorted in displeasure.
“While I couldn’t dissect it properly, I found out that it had nourishing effects and could replenish one’s bloodline source.” Saying this, he waved his hand and the projection of an oddly shaped, thumb-sized black print in the air.
He then zoomed in tenfold, hundredfold, thousandfold, ten-thousandfold and in the end, a millionfold.
Ivan watched it with utmost focus, then noticed a very small bright spot.
“This is the projection of my bloodline source that has been lifeless for 400 years now. When I absorbed that energy, it entered my blood, then my Bloodline Source and this was the result—though a tiny bit, it recovered made this small bit come back to life.” he explained, his eyes shining.
The look in Ivan’s eyes mirrored his. His heart was even beating with excitement.
‘If I can get my hands on its source, it’ll be a big achievement. Then father would have no choice but to favor me more and…’ he trembled in excitement.
But then he heard Elder Bismirch’s next words and all that excitement vanished and his face darkened.
“When I informed Lord Grimheart of this, he ordered me to tell you that you are to do everything possible to capture that boy.” Elder Bismirch said.
Ivan stared daggers at him and the faint mocking curl of his lips only enraged him further.
“You shouldn’t have done this, Birmirch.” he growled as his greenish eyes turned pitch black and his aura burst forth.
Elder Bismirch didn’t flinch. He was, after all, an Emperor Mage, though just an Early-Stage one. So, this much wasn’t enough to scare him.
He stared back at him, his smile widening, “Why? Do you think I don’t want to earn his favor and be granted… that power.”
“Hmph!” Ivan glared at him for a long moment before his eyes returned to normal and he hurrumphed coldly. “Get lost.”
Elder Bismirch shook his head. “That I can’t do. I need to make sure you don’t slack off and put your best efforts to complete this task.”
…
‘Hm?’ Max had arrived at the Resource Hall of the Talisman Hall with Nia and was about to approach the exchange window when he suddenly felt his Bloodline Sense tingle faintly and paused.
His mind churned with thoughts as he tried to find the reason behind it and several possibilities appeared before him which he eliminated one by one because his intuition told him they weren’t the true reason.
In the end…
His eyes flashed, ‘My Bloodline Energy was detected? How? Hadn’t I dispersed it completely after removing the palm print?’
He was right. He had indeed dispersed it to make sure no one found it, but he had forgotten that the tiny bit that was used to heal the redness of the female disciple’s cheek had assimilated into her body.
If anyone else was in his place, they would have forgotten it too because finding out such assimilated energy was incredibly difficult, almost impossible because it would practically cease to exist.
However, he didn’t know the Grimheart Faction had someone who was an expert at studying different energies and things related to souls and Ivan was recently granted authority to utilize his services whenever necessary. And this person had found out the practically non-existent trace of his Bloodline Energy in the female disciple’s body by sacrificing her life.
After a moment, he took a deep breath.
It didn’t matter how it was detected and wasn’t he already expecting something like this to happen when he used it, not once but twice?
His lips curved upwards into an almost villainous grin, ‘Go ahead. Give me the valid reasons to destroy you.’
Nia and several of the people in the Hall who saw his smile shuddered.
As for some of those Elders who had made things difficult for him last time, he cried out in their hearts, ‘Damn it. We haven’t done anything yet and you are already thinking about making things difficult for us.’
At the same time, they made a decision that even without their superior’s direct order, they would let him buy or sell his things as he liked.
“Y-Young Lord?” Nia hesitantly called out which snapped Max back to his senses.
“Yeah?” he glanced at her.
“N-Nothing.” she hurriedly shook her head.
Max nodded, then went ahead and took out the two Thunder Talisman he had created and placed them on the exchange window.
“I want to sell them. Appraise them and offer me a price.” he told the man behind the window.
“Sure.” The man nodded and took the talismans. He was the same man who had bought his talismans last time.
When he saw them, his eyes flashed with surprise. ‘A Tier 5 Thunder Talisman?’
