Chapter 1756: Infiltrating the Ziggurat

Chapter 1756: Infiltrating the Ziggurat

They arrived in a room. Nathan and the others immediately looked around to see if there were any undead.

"There’s nothing here." Jinwu scanned the area. The room looked like an office. It had been covered in dust, showing that this place had never been occupied for years.

Fenrir narrowed his eyes. "There are many mummies outside. We can’t go out like this."

"I’m working on it." Mae was using her ability to erase their presence completely. She didn’t have time to even think about the response.

Nathan took a deep breath. "It looks like we need to make another jump. Is there any place we can use? A place that can lead us to the rest of the ziggurat."

"I can probably find it. I think it’s better to show it to you directly." Fenrir glanced at Nathan.

Nathan nodded and used Crystal Fusion with Fenrir. His senses became sharpened, allowing him to sense the movement of the mummies.

"I see. That’s the place." Nathan immediately sensed an empty space where he didn’t feel a single presence.

"Wait a minute." Mae asked them to wait. "Your power is too strong right now, so I need time to prepare so that the mummies won’t notice the space element fluctuation."

"Oh." After reaching this far, their power had improved significantly. Anubis needed more power to heal them, so was Mae.

That was why Nathan didn’t say anything more and waited until she gave the signal.

"We’re good!"

"Ready." Nathan snapped his fingers, teleporting them diagonally up.

They arrived in another small room. "Hmm?"

"Where is this?" Jinwu narrowed his eyes, unable to discern what this room was.

When he looked to the right, he could see many tables and chairs like a classroom. When he turned the other way, the only thing he could see was an empty space.

"A storage?" Nathan asked.

"Most likely." Fenrir returned to his normal form, leaving Nathan’s body. "Well, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t look like there’s anyone here."

Jinwu nodded. "According to them, the battle started from the throne room, right? How about the other mummies?"

"We don’t know that. In fact, what are we planning to do here? I know you want to go inside, but I still don’t know the exact goal you have in mind." Fenrir looked at Nathan.

"There are several goals. First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to help everyone improve. Without me there, they can’t rely on me, especially in such a situation."

Fenrir nodded in understanding. "Well, you usually took over the command whenever the situation went bad. So, it’s understandable that you want them to be more self-reliant."

"What about the other goals?" Jinwu asked.

"The second goal is to infiltrate the ziggurat and find any information we can. That’s obviously important. The office down there might be nice, but if possible, I want something that contains more important information. Maybe the place where Asura worked, or even more important people."

"Do we know where those places are?"

"Of course not. That’s what we’re going to find. If we can’t find any other rooms, we will go back to that room and see what we can find." Nathan nodded.

"Fair point." Jinwu looked down. "In that case, we should go down. A place like this will usually have underground rooms."

"Most likely." Nathan continued with his explanation. "The third goal is to figure out about this domain. From the looks of it, this ziggurat is where the domain originated. Maybe Fenrir can absorb the energy once we find it. If we can destroy this domain, we will be able to weaken those mummies."

"Well, those mummies are annoying, especially since we can’t destroy this place." Fenrir harrumphed.

"Yes. The fourth goal is to find a treasury."

"A treasury?!" Fenrir and Jinwu looked surprised.

"We’re in this kind of place, so isn’t it good to find some treasures? There is no information about the treasury, but considering this is the place where a man who conquered half of the continent in the past lived, he should have a stash somewhere.

"This place is the prime suspect, so we’ll have to explore it. We can do it later, but doing it now has its own benefits. We don’t know what’s going to happen during the battle, so if we can find and secure it first, we don’t have to worry about it being destroyed anymore."

That was true.

"In that case, shouldn’t you store everything in that office first?" Jinwu asked. "We could check their information later."

"That’s what I want to do, but..." Nathan glanced at Mae.

Mae shook her head. "It’s unstable, but I should manage."

"So, should we go back?" Nathan asked.

"I can go back." Jinwu nodded. "Just give me the ring. As long as I maintain this form, they shouldn’t notice me. Even if they notice, I can escape easily."

Nathan handed over the space ring right away. "Anyway, the fifth goal is the origin of those mummies. We need to find out where they came from so we can seal them or do something. The number is no joke."

"True. I can sense at least tens of thousands. They’re being boosted by the domain, so it makes them trickier. Those girls will have a hard time handling them." Fenrir nodded. "So, that means we’re going to split up?"

"The domain is weird. I have managed to stabilize our presence here so that no one will detect us, but you can’t get too far from me. Jinwu is special, but a big wolf like you surely needs to stay within five meters, or I can’t guarantee that you remain invisible." Mae shook her head. "Give me two more minutes before I’m ready to go out."

Fenrir couldn’t exactly say anything since Mae was in charge. Her illusion was truly powerful since it could hide their overwhelming presence.

"In that case, Jinwu, I need you to scout the area first. If possible, check the throne room and see if we can go there. If we can’t, try to find any hidden rooms or important rooms linked to that room. When it’s possible, try to enter the first office and get everything you can from that place."

"Got it." Jinwu flew to the door.
