Chapter 1757: Hidden Corridor
Chapter 1757: Hidden Corridor
Jinwu first exited the room, scanning the area. Fortunately, there was no mummy on the top floor. So, he didn’t have to worry about Nathan and the others.
He then flew around, searching for a way to go down.
"Is this it?" Jinwu looked down. The staircase was narrow, but he thought it was wide enough to bring all those tables up.
He carefully flew down, making sure that he wasn’t visible.
Once he made sure no one was even looking, Jinwu flew as high as the ceiling would allow. Fortunately, the ziggurat was huge, so the ceiling was also high.
It looked like there were three and a half meters from the floor to the ceiling. It was a perfect place for him to disappear.
As long as he flew at this height while erasing his presence, there should be nothing that could spot him.
Jinwu first flew around, trying to find the mummies. It didn’t take too long for him to reach them because of their numbers.
But after finding them, Jinwu couldn’t help but think, ’Should I go to the office first? No, that can wait. Should I go to the throne room then? But I feel like following this mummy stream is better because I will be able to find where they come from...
’Still, my summoner’s luck sucks. If I follow this stream, there’s a high chance I will be discovered because of his luck.’ Jinwu believed that would fulfill the condition of his jinx. No one had jinxed him yet, but after following Nathan all this time, he knew that anything could happen.
Jinwu carefully considered the two options. In the end, Jinwu took a left turn, heading to the throne room. He carefully went inside from the wall that formed after Luna and Flora were blown away from this room.
After ensuring there was no presence inside this room, he entered the throne room. The hall expanded further. Just like before, everything was enveloped in darkness. If not for their high strength, everyone would be blind here.
Still, beasts like him and Fenrir could easily see in the dark.
Jinwu examined the entire room while muttering inwardly, ’There doesn’t seem to be anything special. And no one seems to be here...’
Jinwu went around one more time just to make sure there was no mummy here. After that, he released a portion of his energy and spread it across the room.
He flapped his wings, causing the heat to fill the entire room.
Jinwu could feel a big heat loss coming from four directions. Two of them were on the left. These two sources came from the main door of this throne room as well as the hole the fight caused.
The third loss came from a wooden door on the left side of the room.
Jinwu approached it carefully before opening the door and taking a peek inside. "Another corridor. I will check it later. For now..."
Jinwu turned his head to the throne where he felt the fourth source.
This time, the source was actually behind the throne.
"Hmm? Nothing is here." Jinwu squinted his eyes. "I can’t find anything..."
Jinwu flapped his wings again, spreading the heat. As expected, there was a loss in front of him.
"A hidden room?" Jinwu frowned. He knocked on the wall, causing the sound to echo. "Ah, it’s truly a hidden room."
Jinwu was sure there was a hidden door or a hidden mechanism that controlled this door. He thought about destroying it, but it might produce too much noise.
So, Jinwu did the best thing. He used the summoning link to send a message to Nathan. "Summoner. I’ve found a hidden door in the throne room. You may want to come here."
"There is no one in the throne room?" Nathan asked.
"Yes. The throne room itself is empty. The stream of mummies originated from another place."
"I see, I’ll be coming."
"Let me send you the signal so that you know my location." Jinwu flew to the middle of the room and sent a small energy through the summoning link to send a signal to Nathan about his exact position.
It only took Nathan a few seconds before he activated his teleportation ability, bringing Fenrir and Mae to the throne room.
Mae, just like before, was fully focused on maintaining her illusion so that no one would notice the energy fluctuation from them. Fenrir, on the other hand, turned to Jinwu. "Where is the hidden door?"
"There! I can destroy it, but it might alert them. We have to either use the illusion to make it disappear or melt it down. Maybe your space element can teleport us through the door?" Jinwu gave the options.
"It’s better to teleport. Destroying it will create an airflow, which can be picked up. We just have to assume the worst in this place, since we don’t want the ziggurat destroyed," answered Mae.
"You’re the boss here." Jinwu nodded in agreement. Without Mae, they would have been found the moment they appeared in the first office after all.
Nathan then walked toward the wall and closed his eyes. He could feel the space expanding behind the wall. "I see. It looks like there’s a mechanism that operates this door. The easiest way is to destroy the door, but I will teleport us. Are you ready, Mae?"
Mae raised both hands, gently releasing her power. "We’re good now."
Nathan then snapped his fingers, using the teleportation to bypass the hidden door.
They came to yet another corridor. It didn’t look any different from other corridors so far.
However, they noticed the energy filling this corridor.
"Hmm?" Nathan raised his eyebrows.
"Energy? Is this the place to the domain’s core?" Jinwu frowned.
"No. This is not the core." Fenrir’s eyes brightened. His eyes brightened as though he were able to recognize the source of this energy.
"Fenrir?" Nathan and Jinwu were confused why Fenrir would fall silent. What kind of item would make Fenrir look so excited?
Fenrir suddenly smiled. Without explaining further, he simply ran forward. "Follow me!"
