Chapter 1075: Amanda
Chapter 1075: Amanda
“Aunt?” Amanda repeated, eyeing Idan suspiciously and scrutinizing him from head to toe.
She couldn’t remember ever having a nephew like that.
“Is it really someone’s illegitimate child?” — She thought irritably.
“Ah, I’m sorry,” Idan realized that he had said it out loud out of surprise.
“I got it wrong. You just look a lot like my aunt,” Idan apologized.
“Hmm…” — Amanda could feel the vibrations of the Golden Rank, and she liked the way Idan apologized to her. He behaved calmly and without excessive pomposity, as if the world revolved around him.
In response, Idan stared at her intently.
He expected to see his father’s family, but he did not expect it to happen so soon and so unexpectedly.
His aunt looked very attractive. She seemed to have become younger and prettier, becoming a Golden-ranked being.
For some reason, looking at her, Idan felt neither anger nor dislike.
Just curiosity.
Looking at her, Idan couldn’t help but think of his “mother” Ivette, who was actually his aunt and at the same time became his foster mother, who raised him.
“So, “nephew,” who are you and where are you from?” Amanda decided to play along.
Idan’s right eye twitched.
“Ignis,” — Idan introduced himself. “As for where I’m from… ‘Auntie,’ would you believe me if I said I’m not from this continent?”
“Ahahaha,” — Amanda laughed.
The guards exchanged glances. It’s not often they get to see her in such a happy mood.
“Okay, stop playing, don’t call me ‘auntie,’ just Amanda,” she said. It was strange for her to hear such an address from a strange man.
Then she added: “Actually, you know… I believe in you. I believe that you are not from this continent.”
“Oh?” Idan was pleasantly surprised.
Like all the guards.
“As far as I know, all the Awakened Ones of this Continent are currently on the border between the factions of the Scarlet Fire and the White Fire,” Amanda said, noticing Idan’s surprise.
“Ah, the dungeon,” — Idan remembered.
“That’s right,” Amanda nodded. “All the Awakened Ones from the cities went there. Considering that you said yourself that you are an Awakened One, and besides, you don’t know who the Contractors are, then we can conclude that you are not from this Continent.”
“She seems to be very perceptive,” Idan thought, and his impression of Amanda became even more positive.
“Mr. Ignis, I’ve been informed that you’re looking for some people and claiming that they’re behind these gates?” asked Amanda.
“Yes, Miss Amanda, you’re absolutely right,” Idan confirmed. To prove his words, he raised his hand, and a round disk appeared on it.
“Hmm… a spatial artifact?” asked Amanda, as did the guards, who noticed the disk appearing out of nowhere.
“It’s an artifact called {Threads of One Blood},” Idan explained. “If you drop blood on a crystal, it can indicate the location of close blood relatives.”
With these words, Idan, under the close attention of Amanda and the guards, made an incision on his finger and dripped blood onto the crystal.
The crystal shone, and seven red threads appeared in front of Amanda’s astonished eyes. She saw with her own eyes how two thick red threads pointed to a closed area.
“The threads indicate the direction, and their thickness indicates the distance. The thicker they are, the closer they are,” Idan explained. “As you can see, the two I’m looking for are here, within this area.”
In Amanda’s eyes, everything looked plausible.
She saw Idan drip his blood from a fresh wound.
Coupled with the pleasant impression Idan had made on her, she decided to believe him.
“Hmm…okay, follow me,” she said, turning around and heading back to her SUV. On the way, she glanced at the guards at the gate and nodded.
The security guard, who was waiting by the SUV, kindly opened the door. She went inside, and before the door could close, she called Idan.
“Come in, sit down.”
Feeling no trick, Idan glanced at the stone-faced guard, entered and sat inside.
The other guards also took their places. At the same time, those who were outside began to open the gates, and the convoy moved off, heading inside the closed area.
“What continent are you from, Ignis?” asked Amanda.
“From Central,” — Idan did not hide it.
The expressions on the faces of Amanda and the guards sitting in the front seat became less welcoming.
“What’s it like to live under the Federation?” Despite her dislike of the Federation, Amanda couldn’t help but ask this question.
“I don’t know,” Idan shrugged. “You’d better ask the ordinary residents about it.”
“I do not obey the Federation Council and the Awakened Association.”
“My loyalty belongs exclusively to the Guild I belong to.”
“Oh,” — Amanda’s interest was piqued by Idan’s confident response. She didn’t notice any lies in his voice, but rather pride, which made her ask the following question: “What is the name of this guild?”
Idan turned to Amanda, taking his time with the answer. He wasn’t sure if the rumors about the Kingdom had reached this place.
“You probably haven’t heard of the name of this guild,” Idan evaded, not wanting to reveal the name.
Before Amanda could insist or ask another question, he pulled out the {Threads of One Blood} and dripped his blood onto the crystal again.
The crystal shone and red threads appeared.
Following the two of them, Idan noticed that they were almost there.
Meanwhile, Amanda, also observing the direction these two threads were pointing at, changed her face again.
“We’re going there,” — Idan told the driver, and soon all three SUVs stopped at one of the luxury mansions, which was located a little apart from the others.
Amanda rolled down the window and looked at the familiar mansion. Then she turned to Idan and asked with some doubt:
“Are you sure they’re here?”
Idan nodded, pointing to the still-active artifact and the two strands that pointed directly at the mansion. “At least it’s never let me down.”
“But… but that’s impossible,” — Amanda tried to protest.
Idan just smiled in response and, without waiting for her to realize the truth, opened the door of the SUV and left it.
“Thank you for helping with security and giving me a lift,” he said, closing the door and heading for the mansion.
“Mr. Ignis, wait!”—before Idan had taken five steps, Amanda stopped him.
She got out of the SUV and stood next to him.
“I’ll go with you,” she said firmly. “I want to make sure with my own eyes.”
Idan saw the doubt in her eyes.
“As you wish,” he replied with a slight smile, continuing on his way to the mansion.
Her reaction made it clear to him that she knew who he was looking for, and of course, it also raised doubts about his identity.
