Chapter 1167: Arabel's Extremes

Chapter 1167: Arabel’s Extremes

Arabel lowered her head and saw her protruding belly. Then she looked up and noticed a frozen two-story wooden house.

She realized where she was, but she couldn’t figure out what had happened.

A strong cold wind blew with snow, and only then did she feel how cold she was.

She began to tremble, and steam escaped from her lungs with every exhalation.

Covering her belly with her hands, she carefully moved towards the house, where, as she noticed, the door was not completely iced over.

Arabel was wearing a Guild uniform, her casual clothes. And here, in this place, she couldn’t give her a different style.

When she reached the door, she grabbed the cold handle, turned it, and to her delight, found that the door had given way and opened.

Arabel crossed the threshold and saw that the inside of the house was also covered with ice.

Before she could take a step, a thick white mist began to descend from the stairs leading to the second floor, heading straight for her.

A rift suddenly opened behind her, with several arms sticking out. They picked her up and pulled her inside, preventing the fog from touching her.

Arabel was taken by surprise and very scared. But she was most concerned about her child’s safety. She fell to her knees and instinctively hunched over, protecting her stomach and covering it with her hands.

“Big sister.”

Hearing that familiar voice, Arabel raised her head and looked around, trying to figure out where and who had dragged her.

There was a small dark space in front of her, where a little girl with long silver hair was standing, hugging a dark fox cub with a smile. The fox cub, noticing Arabel’s gaze, grinned.

Of course, it was Silver, a small version of Arabel herself, embodying her connection with the element of space. Behind the girl in this cramped room were three more versions of her.

Pink Arabel looked at her resentfully and angrily.

Black Arabel was in a gloomy mood.

And Blue Arabel seemed sad.

Arabel knew where she was right away. This was the place where Silver usually hid and spent most of her time.

With a sigh, she straightened up, sat down, and looked at all her versions.

“So, can someone explain to me what the hell is going on?”

Instead of a calm explanation, she heard a chuckle from Pink.

“Heh, look, she still has the nerve to ask about it, ugh,” Pink said with displeasure.

“That’s… big sister, there’s a White senior outside who’s gone crazy,” Silver blurted out.

“Has the White one gone crazy?” — Arabel asked, frowning.

She was well acquainted with White, the most reasonable and calm of all her versions. Therefore, it was a complete surprise for her to hear that she had lost her mind.

“No, Silver, the White One hasn’t gone crazy,” the Blue One intervened. “She’s just really scared.”

“Scared? Whom? Us?” the Pink One growled. “The fact that she is carrying a child does not mean that the child is hers alone. It’s ours too.”

“And what did she do in the end?”

“She considered us a threat to the safety of OUR child! US!”

There was no limit to Pink One’s indignation.

But for some reason, her anger was directed at Arabel herself.

The black one, surprisingly, remained quiet and silent. But it was the silence that bothered Arabel the most.

Blue sighed sadly.

There was silence, which Silver broke by asking Arabel with a light innocent look, “Big sister… He’s mine too, right?”

Despite the gravity of the situation, Arabel couldn’t help but smile.

She didn’t answer Silver’s question, still seeing her as a little girl.

Lowering her head, she gently stroked her stomach, and then looked up and, wanting to know the details, asked:

“Tell us exactly what happened and how White came to such drastic measures.”

“This White one…” the Pink One began, but the Blue One stopped her.

The woman looked at her with displeasure, but did not argue and gave in.

“Everything was fine until recently. We talked a lot, and one of us was always by her side, but everything changed dramatically a few days ago.”

Blue began to explain.

“At first, she started avoiding us and asked us not to approach her. Then she suddenly tried to completely isolate us in our rooms by freezing the entrance.”

“If it wasn’t for Silver, we would have stayed in her ice prison.”

“And that’s because someone gave her too much power,” Pink added, boring Arabel with her pink eyes.

Arabel frowned and quickly realized that this moment coincided with the time when she stopped restraining herself and began using the element of ice to suppress the attacks of flashes of the element of fire.

By her action, she unwittingly triggered a chain of events that led to the current situation.

As she understood it, White became overprotective of the child and is doing everything possible to ensure his safety. At first, she distanced herself from the other versions, but then, out of fear, her protection turned into control.

White, being cold, determined and calculating, took her task to the extreme: she came to the conclusion that if everything around was potentially dangerous, then everyone needed to be isolated.

As a result, all the other versions could not openly conflict with her, so as not to harm the child, and fled to Silver’s small space. Silver is weaker in direct conflict, but her space is the perfect refuge.

This, of course, affected Arabel herself, making her cold and overly cautious. As a result, she even refused to meet with Idan and go out for a walk, which was not typical of her, but typical of a White.

“I’ve been feeling like something’s wrong with me lately. And the whole point, it turns out, is in the actions of the White…” she thought, but quickly shook her head. “No, it’s all about me. White is not a separate person, she is me.”

Arabel couldn’t shake the fear that her and Idan’s child might suffer because of her own mental problems.

“System should have noticed my strange behavior,” she frowned. “Why didn’t it warn me?”

Suddenly, she remembered the barrier, and a shocking realization dawned on her.

“What if this barrier that prevents me from seeing my child was set up by System itself?” she thought.

“To protect our child.”

“To protect not from potential threats, but to protect the child from myself?”
