Chapter 1210: The second one who should stay.

“One must stay voluntarily so that the others can continue on their way.”

That’s exactly what Nemo was afraid of.

What happened to Ned wasn’t the only case.

The ice caves demanded another victim, and, worst of all, there were no clues about what would happen to the remaining one.

“This time, the requirement is ‘voluntary,'” Milena noted, frowning.

Hailey cautiously walked to the edge of the chasm and peered down.

All she could see was a dark abyss.

As she looked down, she was overcome by an irresistible urge to jump. But her dragon instincts took over, and she hurried away from the edge of the abyss.

She felt a slight fright and, turning to the others, saw Irene step forward and say:

“I’ll stay.”

“No, I’ll stay, and you go on,” Arslan objected, and Irene didn’t like that he was interfering again.

Noticing the tension between them, Milena hastened to propose her candidacy.:

“That’s enough, both of you. I’ll stay.”

Nemo, Lina, and Lucinda looked at the trio carefully and then turned their gaze to the Ice Wall. They saw that all three of them were really willing to take the risk and stay voluntarily.

They could no longer turn back after reaching this place. Now all they had to do was move forward, and so they had to choose the one who would stay.

“Nemo, as the leader and the one who initiated the Conquest, cannot stay,” Milena said, looking around at the others.

“So are Lina and Lucinda.”

No one was surprised by her words, as they were already aware of it.

“I agree,” Irene nodded. “Therefore…”

She looked at Milena, Arslan, and Hailey.

“If anyone should stay, it’s one of the four of us.”

There was silence in the air.

If they wanted Nemo to succeed, this was the best option.

Soon, a voice broke the silence.:

“I’ll stay.”

Everyone turned around and saw a determined Hailey.

“I’ll stay,” she repeated, looking apprehensively at the abyss.

The others exchanged glances.

“I originally came here to find the Ice Dragon, but as it turns out, you have a completely different goal,” Hailey continued. “Of course, I understand that your goal is more important than finding the Ice Dragon. Besides, if you succeed, I’ll get what I want too.”

She looked at each of them and said with a slight smile:

“I’ll be happy to stay if it helps you succeed.”

Nemo, Lina, and Lucinda didn’t communicate with Hailey very often, but they realized that she wasn’t just a member of their team, but also one of Idan and Arabel’s most loyal followers.

Looking into Hailey’s dragon eyes, Lucinda saw her determination and understood that it would not be easy to convince a dragon who had already made a decision. Of course, it’s not impossible, but now that one of them has to stay anyway, she wasn’t going to stop her, but accepted her decision.

Nemo clenched his fist tighter, but then sighed. The ignorance of what awaits the others weighed on him more and more.

Especially him, as a leader who abandoned his colleagues in order to achieve his goal.

“Okay,” — Nemo nodded, accepting Hailey’s decision.

“Don’t you dare die, okay?” Irene said in a commanding tone, looking into Hailey’s eyes.

“Heh. I’m not going to die,” she grinned.

“Heh. I’m not going to die,” she said with a grin, but her smile disappeared as soon as she noticed the inscription that appeared on the icy wall.

“The choice is made.”

At that moment, a strong gust of wind burst out of the abyss, followed by a snowstorm, enveloping the group again.

When the storm subsided, Hailey disappeared with it.

Crackling. Crackling. Crackling.

While the group was looking at the place where Hailey had been standing, an ice bridge began to appear over the abyss towards the other side.

The second member of the team has already disappeared.

And everyone has already begun to realize that, most likely, this will not be the end of it.

Nemo looked around at everyone present and stopped at the ice bridge.

When he looked at the bridge, he had a feeling of foreboding.

The bridge was not only unfinished, but also looked rather fragile and unreliable.

“Is this a joke?” asked Arslan, looking at the unfinished bridge in disbelief.

Everyone had doubts about the reliability of this structure, but they had no other way.

“Who’s willing to bet that the bridge won’t hold up and collapse?”

“Who’s willing to bet that the bridge will collapse?” said Arslan jokingly. However, when Irene gave him a stern, cold look, his smile disappeared, and he hurried to add, “Forget what I just said.”

Everyone cautiously approached the edge of the abyss, looked down and at the same time jumped back.

“Anyone interested?”

Before Arslan could ask his question, Irene stepped forward and stepped onto the ice bridge.

Arslan’s heart began to beat faster, and he wanted to curse, but he restrained himself.

No one followed her. Everyone watched with bated breath as she slowly made her way across the bridge.

When she reached the edge, the bridge began to lengthen.

But it stopped lengthening pretty quickly.

When Irene reached this side of the bridge, it did not lengthen.

She looked down, and then shifted her gaze to the other side.

She wasn’t even halfway there.

Irene turned to the others and, seeing that they were standing and looking at her, called out:

“Milena, come here.”

Arslan sighed and looked at Milena. She looked at him and, shrugging her shoulders, stepped onto the bridge.

Milena focused on Irene, trying not to look down.

As she walked, the bridge remained motionless.

It wasn’t until she got closer to Irene that the bridge began to lengthen again.

And then suddenly the ice wall towering behind Arslan and the others began to move and rushed towards them, threatening to throw them into the abyss.

“Everyone to the bridge!” — Lucinda shouted, and without hesitation, everyone rushed to the bridge, trying to make it before the ice wall threw them into the abyss.

Everyone made it in time, and the ice wall stopped, leaving no free space at the edge of the abyss, leaving the team with only one way to move forward.

“Don’t look down, don’t look down,” — Arslan repeated, trembling slightly.

One by one, everyone began to approach Irene and Milena, and as they approached, the bridge lengthened more and more.

The group began their slow progress.

When they were halfway across, the bridge finally reached the opposite side, and Irene and the others had smiles of relief on their faces.

But suddenly they heard the most terrifying sound.

The crackle of ice.

Crackling. Crackling. Crackling.

Looking down, they were horrified to discover that the bridge beneath them was rapidly collapsing.

“Hurry up!” — Lucinda shouted, but it was already too late.

The bridge collapsed before they could even take a step, and they all fell down into the abyss.
